Abstract: A mechanism to enable multiple message threads management in the context of the Converged IP Messaging (CPM) service and in the context of CPM inter-working with SMS is provided. A CPM user can simply start a message-based conversation with another CPM or Short Message Service (SMS) user without explicitly establishing a session beforehand. All messages that belong to a given conversation are displayed in the corresponding conversational view (i.e. window) in the CPM user device, even if the conversation is stopped and restarted at a later time, and even if there are multiple message threads available (currently active or stored) in the CPM device. Message structures and behavior of the CPM system elements to enable the functionalities above as well as a mechanism makes the message threads management possible even between a CPM user and an SMS user are also provided.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for selecting a location platform for a user equipment to roam and a method for determining the location of the user equipment using the same. The method for selecting a location platform includes: checking a visiting network of the UE in response to a location request message transmitted from the UE which is roaming; and selecting a location platform to calculate a location of the UE by comparing positioning capability information of the checked visiting network and positioning capability information of a home network of the UE. According to such a method, it is possible to efficiently perform the positioning of the UE, regardless of the location of the UE, thereby improving the quality of the positioning service.

Abstract: A system and method of a multimedia Push-To-Talk (PTT) over Cellular (PoC) box service is provided which can reflect dynamic requests of a user using a function for interworking with a PoC server and an Extensible Markup Language (XML) Document Management Server (XDMS) in a PoC system. In a method for providing the PoC box service, the PoC XDMS stores various information about a type of media to be stored by a PoC user, a PoC box type, and a connection address after a service request expires. An associated service is implemented by Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) technology between the PoC server and a PoC client and by interworking with the PoC server and the XDMS.

According to the method, Universal Resource Indicator (URI) information regarding invitation and Information Reservation Service (IRS) parameters are set up in a PoC eXtensible markup language Document Management Server (XDMS), and a PoC server is requested to provide an IRS so that a session is established.

Abstract: Provided are a system for establishing and managing a Push To Talk (PTT) over Cellular (PoC) session between PoC clients supporting various media types, a method thereof, and a User Equipment (UE) therefor. When a PoC client performing an Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) PoC multimedia call service supports a plurality of media types, and media types supported by PoC clients are not common, a PoC session can be established to support only media types set to be transmitted in a first response message after the session is established. In addition, a method of efficiently managing a session by updating the session when a newly supported media type is provided or when a recipient of an existing media type is changed is suggested.

Abstract: A method for locating mobile terminals is provided. First, information of a home Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) of a target mobile terminal, the location of which is to be determined, is checked in response to a location service request from a client. Then, information of a visited PLMN, where the target mobile terminal is currently located, is checked based on the checked information of the home PLMN. The home PLMN calculates location assistance information of the visited PLMN using specific location information of the visited PLMN. The location assistance information is transferred to the target mobile terminal. This allows location information of a mobile terminal to be obtained irrespective of the area or communication network where the mobile terminal is located. It is thus possible to locate a mobile terminal in an area where no location assistance information is provided.

Abstract: A converged IP messaging client transmits a session establishment request for interactive message communication. When a converged IP messaging server receives the request, it determines whether a target client of the interactive message communication uses a converged IP messaging service. If not, the converged IP messaging server transmits the session establishment request to an IWF. If it is determined that the target client is an SM client, the IWF generates an interactive message communication request by transforming a format of the session establishment request into an SMS format and transmits the interactive message communication request to the SM client. If the IWF receives an acceptance response from the SM client in response to the interactive message communication request within an effective response time, a session for the interactive message communication can be established between the converged IP messaging client and the SM client.

The method includes requesting, at a PoC client, session division to a participating PoC function (PF) of a PoC server that manages a PoC session to which the PoC client belongs; requesting, at the PF of the PoC server, the session division to a controlling PoC function (CF) of a PoC server; transmitting, at the CF of the PoC server, information necessary for a new PoC session to at least one PoC client that desires to participate in the new PoC session while requesting the session division; and connecting, at the PoC client which is to participate in the new PoC session, to a CF of a PoC server which manages the new PoC session through a CF of an existing PoC server to thereby participate in the new PoC session.

First, information of a home Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) of a target mobile terminal, the location of which is to be determined, is checked in response to a location service request from a client. Then, information of a visited PLMN, where the target mobile terminal is currently located, is checked based on the checked information of the home PLMN. The home PLMN calculates location assistance information of the visited PLMN using specific location information of the visited PLMN. The location assistance information is transferred to the target mobile terminal. Abstract: Provided is a method and system for requesting and granting a media transmission right of a PoC user. The method includes a PoC client transmitting an MBCP Request message to a PoC server, the PoC server receiving the MBCP Request message, determining whether a current state corresponds to a media transmission denial condition, and if it is determined that the current state corresponds to a media transmission denial condition, transmitting an MBCP Deny message containing at least one of time information of a media transmission timer and time information of a retry-after timer to the PoC client, and the PoC client receiving the MBCP Deny message, activating the media transmission timer and the retry-after timer using the respective time information, and re-transmitting the MBCP Request message to the PoC server if one of the media transmission timer and the retry-after timer, the retry-after timer having a longer time value, expires.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for establishing a group session requested by the transmitting-side PoC client. Register of a service setting for receiving invitee information in the receiving-side PoC server is requested. A RTCP connection message is received from the receiving-side PoC server. The invitee information in the RTCP connection message is identified and the invitee information is provided to a user. An input of whether or not establishment of the group session has been accepted is received from the user. An RTCP response comprising the input of whether or not establishment of the group session has been accepted is created, and the RTCP response is transmitted to the receiving-side PoC server.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for managing multimedia messages. If receiving a request to set a retrieval reminder for a specific multimedia message from an MS, an MMS relay/server sets a reminder time for the specific multimedia message to a reminder time included in the request to set the retrieval reminder. If a current time corresponds to the reminder time, the MMS relay/server notifies the MS of retrieving the specific multimedia message. If receiving a request to extend an expiry time of the specific multimedia message from the MS, the MMS relay/server sets the expiry time of the specific multimedia message to an expiry time included in the request to extend the expiry time.
