  • Patent number: 6735626
Abstract: A network managing method which divides a network to be managed into a plurality of virtual closed area networks, and defines management information on the virtual closed area networks separately in a plurality of logical hierarchies. A virtual LAN/network space defines a connection state among closed area networks, a closed area space defines attribute information on nodes within a closed area network, and a virtual service defines logical arrangement information on nodes in the overall network. The management information is distributively stored in each node and utilized for MAC control. When the configuration of the network is changed due to movements of nodes, an administrator inputs the contents of the change from the manager of each layer, so that the manager communicates with a node containing corresponding management information to instruct the node to update management information.

  • Patent number: 6732170
Abstract: For realizing a system for uniformly operating and managing a network system capable of managing a plurality of types of logical networks for one network entity composed of a plurality of objects, information on network topologies is collected from each of the plurality of objects. Display data is created for each of a plurality of types of logical network topologies for each object in accordance with the collected information on network topologies. A control is conducted in accordance with the created display data so as to display a physical connection relationship, a logical connection relationship, and a virtual connection relationship on a virtual screen.

  • Patent number: 6704504
Abstract: The present invention relates to a zoom lens position control device. An encoding pattern, which shows a shift between a focal length changing region and a focal point adjusting region by turns, is provided for a rotary frame in which a lens group of a step zoom lens capable of setting a plurality of focal lengths is arranged. Electrical conduction/non-conduction based on the pattern is detected as an ON/OFF state. The present position of the zoom lens is determined on the basis of the ON/OFF state. When the zoom lens is shifted from the stopping position due to the application of an external force, the stopping position of the zoom lens is initialized. The operation of the zoom lens is subsequently shifted to exposure in a focal length position, where the zoom lens is originally stopped, without unnecessarily increasing release time lag.

  • Patent number: 6665716
Abstract: A delay factor in a processing in a job system in which an ordered series of jobs are executed in computers assigned to respective jobs, is efficiently detected, and the delay factor is analyzed in detail by associating it with load information of the computers and a network. An administrative manager computer 201 collects a history of executing a job from each job executing computer 202, and refers to a history of each job, one by one from a job executed later to a job executed earlier, until no delay is detected in a job, for judging a cause of delay in each job. Further, with respect to a job in which delay is detected, load statuses of the other jobs or applications in the computer in which said job is in execution are compared with said job and displayed.

  • Publication number: 20030197722
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program for displaying partial information related to network equipment connected to a network being managed by a network management system. The partial information is required for network management to be conducted from the network equipment. A managed terminal is included in each network equipment. The network management system collects management information from each network equipment and stores management information therein. When conducting network management, the managed terminal sends a request for network management. The network management system in response transfers a program for managing the network to the managed terminal. The transferred program informs the network management system of the identification of the managed terminal. Partial information is transferred to the managed terminal based on the identification. The managed terminal then displays the transferred partial information.

  • Publication number: 20030085914
Abstract: In a storage network, two access restriction methods, i.e., zoning and LUN security are available. These functions must be set for each units of the storage network. This disadvantageously takes a long period time and manpower. Since the setting is independently conducted for each unit, inconsistent setting cannot be prevented. A utility program having a management console screen using integrated representation of the zoning and the LUN security is provided. The program removes the user's setting operation for each unit and detects any inconsistent user's operation for the screen. Therefore, the inconsistent setting can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6557122
Abstract: When a problem occurs in communication carried out by a user, information concerning the problem is notified to the user. A network management system transfers a problem notification program to a network device adjacent to a place experiencing the problem. The problem notification program notifies “communication impossible” to a terminal of a transmission source of data output from an output port of the network device.

  • Patent number: 6529690
Abstract: A camera uses a film cartridge having a light-shielding door for opening/closing a film inlet and outlet opening. A cartridge chamber accommodates the film cartridge. A cartridge chamber lid is provided at the opening of the cartridge chamber. A first driving mechanism drives the cartridge chamber lid. A second driving mechanism drives the light-shielding door. A control section controls the second driving mechanism to maintain the light-shielding door in an opened state when it is not possible to take out the film cartridge from the cartridge chamber.

  • Patent number: 6518891
Abstract: The first codec-based dummy string generator 132 generates a first code-cbased dummy string in a first code string conforming to a first format based on the first coding method. The second codec encoder 131 generates a second code string having been encoded with a higher efficiency than the first code string and conforming to a second format different from the first format. The code string generator 133 generates a synthetic code string by embedding the second codec-based code string generated by the second codec encode block 131 in a blank area formed in the first code string based on the first codec-based dummy string generated by the first code dummy string generator 132.
