  • Patent number: 11569834
Abstract: Analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with a high sampling rate and larger spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) in the spectral domain are used in many applications, including, but not limited to, range finders, meteorology, spectroscopy, and/or coherent medical imaging. Circuit techniques for time-interleaving a set of low-sampling-rate sub-ADCs into a higher sampling-rate ADC with a larger SFDR than existing approaches are described. In one embodiment, the circuit techniques add a small number of additional units or sub-ADCs. This change in architecture enables a dynamic-selection procedure to time-interleave the set of sub-ADCs in such a way that mismatch-related non-idealities of the constituent sub-ADCs are spread in the frequency domain into a noise-like spectral shape in order to prevent the creation of spurious tones, which would otherwise deleteriously impact the SFDR.

  • Publication number: 20230017531
Abstract: Described are systems and methods to provide agnostic sensor data obtained from a sensor and transmitted to a central database by a transmitter device. In one aspect, a value sensed by a sensor component is converted at the transmitter device to an agnostic value defined by a dimensionless universal scale and offset. The agnostic value is then sent to a data acquisition database where it is converted back to the original value. This is accomplished by first providing the data acquisition database with a sensor definition of a scale and offset used to convert the sensor values in addition to any sensor indicia and other parameters to display the data acquired at the data acquisition database. The wireless sensors database and user interface are also automatically updated when a new sensor type is attached to the network utilizing configuration data that resides in the new sensor that is sent to the database on its first connection.

  • Patent number: 11552673
Abstract: A method is provided for use in a cooperative broadcast multi-hop network that employs broadcast flood routing and multi-hop transmission using a direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DSSS) waveform. DSSS signals are received from other nodes on different channels. ASSW is performed to detect and remove interference signals received on the different channels. MDFT analysis banks each receive a beam in the spectral domain that can be channelized to generate a channelized beam that comprises multiple spectral channels. An adaptive interference mitigation space-frequency whitener module can then be applied to remove interference and generate interference-mitigated spatial-spectral domain channels. MDFT synthesis banks can each perform a MDFT synthesis operation on one of the spatial-spectral domain channels. A multi-user RAKE receiver can then combine the interference mitigated time-domain channelized signals to generate a subset (1 . . .

  • Patent number: 11553442
Abstract: A wireless communication method to alter RF regulatory channel hopping requirements (regulations) between a pair of transceivers is envisioned wherein an embedded transceiver embedded in an RF attenuating medium transmits signals at a lower hopping requirement than a paired open-air transceiver. The communication method adheres to these regulations, which define a threshold power for transmission above which require a high degree of frequency hopping. Because the attenuating medium attenuates the open-air RF signal from the embedded transceiver, channel hopping in the embedded transceiver is lowered however, the channel hopping in the open-air transceiver is not lowered. The two transceivers are essentially powered equally.

  • Patent number: 11538170
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for optimal segmentation of an image based on multiple segmentations. In particular, multiple segmentation methods can be combined by taking into account previous segmentations. For instance, an optimal segmentation can be generated by iteratively integrating a previous segmentation (e.g., using an image segmentation method) with a current segmentation (e.g., using the same or different image segmentation method). To allow for optimal segmentation of an image based on multiple segmentations, one or more neural networks can be used. For instance, a convolutional RNN can be used to maintain information related to one or more previous segmentations when transitioning from one segmentation method to the next. The convolutional RNN can combine the previous segmentation(s) with the current segmentation without requiring any information about the image segmentation method(s) used to generate the segmentations.

  • Publication number: 20220396358
Abstract: Methods and systems for efficiently loading cargo transports, such as cargo aircraft, are described. The methods and systems rely upon payload profiles for various payloads where the payloads include repeatable payloads that have the same characteristics. Based on the payload profile, the payload is positioned at a designated location in an interior cargo bay of the cargo transport. The designated location is denoted by one or more pre-formed markings in the interior cargo bay that establish where a payload having the respective payload profile should be positioned in the bay. The payload can then be secured in the bay. Because the designated location accounts for centers of gravity, the payload can be loaded and secured in the bay without having to run various calculations each time a payload is loaded. Systems and methods related to how the payloads are packaged in an efficient, expeditious manner are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20220397988
Abstract: Methods for pen-specific user interface controls are performed by systems and devices. Users activate pen-specific menus at user devices by activating controls of a touch pen such as a tail button. A communication is received by a device, from a touch pen, that indicates an activation control of the touch pen has been physically activated. The user device selects a touch pen menu that includes selectable menu options for respective launching of separate pen applications from among available menus based at least on the received communication. The device determines menu presentation information specifying a location within a user interface (UI) from a state of the UI at a time associated with the communication. The touch pen menu is displayed via the UI according to the menu presentation information. A detection for selection of a selectable menu option causes the device to launch a pen application associated therewith.

  • Patent number: 11514252
Abstract: A discriminative captioning system generates captions for digital images that can be used to tell two digital images apart. The discriminative captioning system includes a machine learning system that is trained by a discriminative captioning training system that includes a retrieval machine learning system. For training, a digital image is input to the caption generation machine learning system, which generates a caption for the digital image. The digital image and the generated caption, as well as a set of additional images, are input to the retrieval machine learning system. The retrieval machine learning system generates a discriminability loss that indicates how well the retrieval machine learning system is able to use the caption to discriminate between the digital image and each image in the set of additional digital images. This discriminability loss is used to train the caption generation machine learning system.
