  • Publication number: 20170211993
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring body core temperature includes a light guide with an internally reflective tube. The light guide is coupled to an earpiece, and has a lens or an aperture positioned at one of its ends. A sensor is positioned at the other end of the light guide, and a processor is coupled to the sensor. The sensor senses infrared radiation from an infrared source at the end of the light guide, and the processor determines a temperature of the infrared source at the end of the light guide via a transfer function that correlates a measure of the infrared radiation observed by the sensor and an effect of radiation of the light guide.

  • Publication number: 20170082496
Abstract: A device for measuring body core temperature includes a light guide. The light guide is coupled to an earpiece. A first sensor is positioned at a first end of the light guide, and a second sensor is positioned at a second end of the light guide. A processor is coupled to the first sensor and the second sensor. The first sensor senses infrared radiation from an infrared source at the second end of the light guide, and the second sensor measures a temperature of the light guide at the second end of the light guide. The processor determines a temperature of the infrared source at the second end of the light guide by compensating for infrared radiation due to a thermal gradient of the light guide via a regression analysis across a range of ambient temperatures of the light guide.

  • Publication number: 20170079532
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring body core temperature includes a light guide. The light guide can be coupled to an earpiece, or it can be a standalone device. The apparatus also includes a sensor positioned at one end of the light guide, and a processor coupled to the sensor. The sensor is operable to sense infrared radiation from an infrared source at the opposite end of the light guide. The processor is operable to determine a temperature of the infrared source at the opposite end of the light guide via a transfer function that correlates a measurement of the infrared radiation observed by the sensor and an effect of radiation of the light guide.

  • Patent number: 9587987
Abstract: A flame detector includes an infrared detector and a first window covering the infrared detector. A second window is positioned in front of the first window. The flame detector is adapted to reject light having a wavelength below approximately 2 ?m and to reject light having a wavelength above approximately 6 ?m, allowing detection of flame from multiple sources. In variations, the windows in combination with the infrared detector may provide the rejection or a band pass filter provides the rejection. Still further variations utilize notch filters or a band reject filter to provide notches of light to the infrared detector corresponding to the wavelength of different flame sources to be detected.

  • Publication number: 20160287391
Abstract: A device for containing bone graft material includes a mesh outer sleeve extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end and sized and shaped to correspond to a profile of an outer surface of a target bone. The outer sleeve includes a longitudinal slot extending along a length thereof. The device also includes a mesh inner sleeve connected to an interior surface of the outer sleeve via at least one strut so that a bone graft collecting space is defined therebetween. The inner sleeve is sized and shaped to correspond to a profile of a medullary canal of the target bone. In addition, the device includes an interstitial mesh extending radially away from an exterior surface of the inner sleeve toward an interior surface of the outer sleeve to hold graft material in the bone graft collecting space.

  • Publication number: 20160287390
Abstract: A device for containing a graft material includes an outer member formed via an outer mesh sheet biased toward a coiled configuration in which the outer mesh sheet is coiled about a longitudinal axis thereof so that, when the outer member is positioned about separated portions of a target bone in an operative position, the outer member reverts to the coiled configuration and contracts about and engages the separated portions. The device also includes an inner member formed via an inner mesh sheet coiled about a longitudinal axis thereof. The inner member is movable between a first biased coiled configuration and a second coiled configuration. A diameter of the inner member in the first coiled configuration is larger than a diameter of the inner member in the second coiled configuration.

  • Patent number: 9365581
Abstract: Provided herein is technology relating to deuterated amiexanox and particularly, but not exclusively, to compositions comprising deuterated amiexanox, methods of producing deuterated amiexanox, and uses of deuterated amiexanox. Provided herein are deuteratecl amiexanox compounds for the treatment of obesity, insulin resistance, diabetes, and steatosis. In addition, the deuterated compounds are anti-inflammatory antiallergic immunomodulators. e.g., for the treatment of diseases associated with inflammation. The deuterium kinetic isotope effect associated with placing deuterium at the site of metabolic derivatization slows metabolic derivatization and thus increases the lifetime of the active drug in vivo.
