  • Patent number: 6947978
Abstract: Method for geolocating logical network addresses on electronically switched dynamic communications networks, such as the Internet, using the time latency of communications to and from the logical network address to determine its location. Minimum round-trip communications latency is measured between numerous stations on the network and known network addressed equipment to form a network latency topology map. Minimum round-trip communications latency is also measured between the stations and the logical network address to be geolocated. The resulting set of minimum round-trip communications latencies is then correlated with the network latency topology map to determine the location of the network address to be geolocated.

  • Patent number: 6904137
Abstract: A system and a method store, display and report outgoing call log data associated with telephone calls from a subscriber's telephone. The system includes a switch in one network that receives a telephone call from the subscriber's telephone and launches a query in response to an AIN trigger to a service control point. In response, the service control point forwards associated call data to an interface server in another network via a generic data interface. The interface server obtains additional information from a directory database and sends the call data and the additional information to an outgoing call log database, which stores the call data and the additional information as the outgoing call log data. A web server retrieves the outgoing call log data and displays it to the subscriber at a web client.

  • Patent number: 6891940
Abstract: A system and method are provided for reviewing and updating a subscriber's telecommunications services, including a Caller ID service, using a graphical user interface via multiple data networks. The method includes presenting service data to the subscriber via the data networks and transmitting a data message from the subscriber to an intelligent peripheral via at least one of the data networks. The data message indicates a subscriber's desired update to a selected telecommunications service. The method also includes converting the data message into a protocol compatible with an integrated service control point. The converted data message is identical to a data message that the intelligent peripheral would create if the subscriber had entered the desired update via an interactive voice response system.

  • Patent number: 6870359
Abstract: A self-calibrating test probe system of the present invention does not require probing head removal and replacement. Using the system of the present invention, the test probe and/or the entire system (including a testing instrument) may be calibrated or may self-calibrate while the probing head remains connected to an electrical component under test. The self-calibrating electrical testing probe system includes calibration circuitry including at least one input resistor, at least one relay, and at least one known calibration reference signal. If the test probe is an active test probe, the calibration circuitry may also include at least one amplifier. Each relay has a first position that provides signal access to a testing signal from an electrical component under test and a second position that provides signal access to the known calibration reference signal. Using the present invention, the error of the test probe and/or system is determined and compensated.

  • Patent number: 6850894
Abstract: An electronic shopping system for selling vehicle devices stores, in a database, installation kit information indicating an installation kit required to install a vehicle device, for each combination of the vehicle device and a vehicle type and also stores information about installation dealers which are to install sold vehicle devices. On the basis of the location of a consumer input via a consumer terminal device, possible installation dates/times given by the consumer, and the dealer information stored in the database, a web server determines the installation dealer and the installation date/time and sends information about the determined installation dealer and installation date/time to the consumer terminal device.

  • Publication number: 20040218333
Abstract: A system to protect electrical circuits from rapid changes of voltage associated with a fault in an electrical load comprises an inductor placed in series between a drive circuit and load. The inductor is designed to be inefficient or lossy when the inductor core is magnetised. Magnetisation of the core only occurs when a rapid change in voltage is applied across the inductor coils. Because the inductor is inefficient, the induced impedance in the inductor increases rapidly during a fault event. The overall impedance of the circuit increases rapidly and the rapid change in voltage is dissipated at a rate associated with the CR constant of the circuit.
