  • Publication number: 20080124512
Abstract: A ceramic matrix composite (CMC) component for gas turbine engines, the component having fine features such as thin edges with thicknesses of less than about 0.030 inches and small radii of less that about 0.030 inches formed using the combination of prepreg plies layed up with non-ply ceramic inserts. The CMC components of the present invention replace small ply inserts cut to size to fit into areas of contour change or thickness change, and replace the small ply inserts with a fabricated single piece discontinuously reinforced composite insert, resulting in fewer defects, such as wrinkles, and better dimensional control.

  • Patent number: 7369651
Abstract: Outgoing call log data associated with a call from a subscriber's terminal is provided by a system including a switch, which receives the call from the subscriber's terminal and launches a query in response to the call, and a service controller, which receives the query and forwards call data to an interface server in response to the query. The switch continues to process the telephone call after querying the service controller. The interface server obtains additional information from a directory database based on at least the received call data. An outgoing call log database receives and stores the call data and the additional information from the interface server as the outgoing call log data. A web server retrieves the outgoing call log data from the outgoing call log database, in response to a query from a web client, and displays the outgoing call log data at the web client.

  • Publication number: 20080076321
Abstract: The present invention includes a nozzle for creating and controlling geysers erupting from carbonated soda bottles. The present invention also includes methods of starting and controlling soda geyser fountains including remote triggering and chain reaction geysers. The nozzle of the invention is used for combining ordinary carbonated soda and small objects. The small objects are typically candies, such as MENTOS. The combination of soda and small objects creates a reaction that rapidly releases carbon dioxide causing tall, geyser-like fountains of soda. The nozzle includes a base section for securing to a bottle of soda, a pin and chamber section for holding small objects, and a nozzle orifice for controlling fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 7332049
Abstract: A method for fabricating a reinforced matrix composite comprising the step of providing a composite preform having a fibrous structure and applying matrix material onto the preform in locations along the preform. A barrier material is applied to at least a portion of the coated preform to direct the flow of matrix material into the preform. The composite preform is heated to a temperature sufficient to render the matrix material viscous and insufficient to cure the matrix material. The pressure to the interior of the composite preform is reduced, while the pressure to the barrier material is increased. The temperature is maintained to flow the matrix material into the composite preform and to force gases from the fibrous structure. The composite preform is then cured and cooled to form a reinforced matrix composite having a low void content and a substantially uniform matrix distribution.

  • Patent number: 7268991
Abstract: A system to protect electrical circuits from rapid changes of voltage associated with a fault in an electrical load comprises an inductor placed in series between a drive circuit and load. The inductor is designed to be inefficient or lossy when the inductor core is magnetised. Magnetisation of the core only occurs when a rapid change in voltage is applied across the inductor coils. Because the inductor is inefficient, the induced impedance in the inductor increases rapidly during a fault event. The overall impedance of the circuit increases rapidly and the rapid change in voltage is dissipated at a rate associated with the CR constant of the circuit.

  • Patent number: 7233658
Abstract: A subscriber associates a ring-tone media selection based on a media genre, author, or title to a calling number. When an incoming call is detected, a particular ring-tone media selection, based on the subscriber's association, may be streamed from a central server to the subscriber's customer premises equipment and then played. Alternatively, when an incoming call is detected, a particular ring-tone selection indicator, based on the subscriber's association, may be sent from a central server to the subscriber's customer premises equipment which then plays a pre-stored ring-tone selection media associated with the indicator.
