  • Publication number: 20190071107
Abstract: A locomotive communication system includes a wireless communication device and a controller that controls operation of the wireless communication device. The controller directs the wireless communication device to switch between operating in an off-board communication mode and operating in an onboard communication mode. The wireless communication device communicates a remote data signal with an off-board location while the wireless communication device is operating in the off-board communication mode and the wireless communication device communicates a local data signal between the propulsion-generating vehicles of the vehicle system while the wireless communication device is operating in the onboard communication mode.

  • Patent number: 10225627
Abstract: A narrative includes a number of serially connected narrative segments combined by a director or editor in a defined sequence to tell a story. Quite frequently a number of different narrative segments are available to the director or editor. A content delivery editor provides editors and directors with the ability to augment a standard with additional narrative segments that provide alternate perspectives, view, or insights to the narrative consumer. Such provides the ability to convey the same narrative to the narrative consumer using a number of plots, storylines, or perspectives. Branch points in the narrative, defined by the editor or director, provide the narrative consumer the opportunity to follow a storyline they find interesting. Each narrative consumer follows a “personalized” path through the narrative. Through social media, narrative consumers are able to discuss the narrative path with other narrative consumers who have taken a different path through the narrative.

  • Patent number: 10209977
Abstract: In various embodiments, methods and systems for implementing a device management system with a restore prevention utility are provided. A request is received, at a control server, for an installation file for a restore prevention application. Based on receiving the request, the control server circumvents communication of the installation file based on transmitting a response code. The response code is an informational code that operates as an indicator to wait for a final response. Transmitting the response code triggers maintaining a pending state for the restore prevention application at the controlled device.

  • Patent number: 10189522
Abstract: An inner tube moves axially between an outer tube and a support, all of which are concentrically arranged, to a desired telescopic position, relative to the outer tube and the support, and can be locked in the desired telescopic position by applying radial force between the support and the inner surface of the inner tube. The radial force generates a frictional force acting on the inner surface of the inner tube, which resists longitudinal movement of the inner tube. A bicycle actuator cable is coupled to an actuator connector for a tension-controlled actuator by a bicycle cable connector which has a fixed longitudinal position on the bicycle actuator cable. The bicycle cable connector is longitudinally consistently removably repeatably interengageable with the actuator connector to maintain longitudinal alignment of the bicycle actuator cable with the actuator through repeated engagement and disengagement of the bicycle cable connector and the actuation connector.

  • Publication number: 20190026791
Abstract: Examples provide a system for pre-staging items for coordinated charitable aid. The system predicts aid opportunities associated with predicted future events in a selected geographic area. The system assembles a list of items predicted to be requested for relief aid if the predicted future event occurs. The identified items are pre-staged within the selected geographic area or within a predetermined distance of a location of the predicted event prior to occurrence of the event. If the event occurs, the list of pre-staged items is provided in response to verified aid request associated with a charitable aid opportunity using data gathered from a plurality of sources and aid request rules or made available on an aid request website for donation to the aid opportunity. The aid request generator updates the list of pre-staged items and generates notifications to the requesting charity when pre-staged items are ready for pick-up or delivery.

  • Patent number: 10086261
Abstract: An online game is provided to players where players may participate in individual episodes of the online racing game. The individual episodes may include individual races within the racing game in which players control game entities through racecourses. User accounts comprising an indication of game entities associated with the players of the online game, an indication of a status of the player, and a game play metric associated with the player may be managed. Races in the online game may be synthesized by simulating participation by game entities of a player in individual synthetic episodes of the online game while the player is absent from the online game. A change in the game play metric of the player may be determined based on the performance of the first game entity in the race of the first synthetic episode.

  • Patent number: 10034119
Abstract: Communication methods and systems wirelessly communicate onboard messages between communication devices onboard the same vehicle. The communication devices can wirelessly communicate with other communication devices onboard other vehicles in a vehicle system for remote control of the vehicles. Receipt of the onboard messages at the communication devices is determined, and operative states of the communication devices are determined based at least in part on the receipt of the onboard messages at the communication devices. Determining these operative states in this manner can allow for an operator to identify communication faults with the communication devices prior to departing the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20180191213
Abstract: The invention describes an electrical machine comprising a stator and a rotor which is separated from the stator by an air gap and has a plurality of shell-like magnet segments which are fastened to a magnetic return path element. In this case, the magnet segments are arranged opposite one another in pairs in each case and each have a plurality of magnetically differently polarized sections in the circumferential direction, said sections each forming a magnetic pole of the rotor. In this case, recesses which each serve as outer detached pole portions are provided on that side which faces the stator in the edge zones of the magnet segments which are arranged in the circumferential direction. Furthermore, further recesses are provided on that side which faces the stator in the transition zones between the magnetically differently polarized sections of the magnet segments, said recesses serving as inner detached pole portions.
