  • Publication number: 20190276055
Abstract: A system includes one or more processors, a communication device, and a positive train control (PTC) system. The one or more processors and communication device are onboard a lead vehicle of a vehicle system that includes the lead vehicle and a first remote vehicle. The PTC system is configured to restrict movement of the vehicle system based on a location of the vehicle system. The PTC system communicates a list of vehicle identifiers to the one or more processors. The communication device communicates a wireless linking message, which includes a vehicle identifier associated with the first remote vehicle, to the first remote vehicle. The communication device establishes a communication link between the lead vehicle and the first remote vehicle responsive to receipt of the wireless linking message at the first remote vehicle. The one or more processors remotely control movement of the first remote vehicle via the communication link.

  • Patent number: 10411339
Abstract: An adjustor configured to position an antenna coupled to a mounting element includes an adjustor nut having a bore extending along a longitudinal axis of the adjustor nut. At least a portion of the bore has inner threads configured to engage corresponding threads on a first portion of the mounting element positioned within the bore. A tool interface is positioned near a proximal end region of the adjustor nut and an external fastening mechanism positioned near a distal end region of the adjustor nut. A preload nut configured to engage the external fastening mechanism and configured to apply a load onto a second portion of the mounting element is positioned between a portion of the adjustor nut and the preload nut. Rotation of the adjustor nut around the longitudinal axis causes movement of the first portion along the longitudinal axis while the load is applied onto the second portion.

Abstract: An interactive narrative presentation includes a plurality of narrative segments, with a variety of available media content consumer selectable paths or directions, typically specified by a director or editor. The content consumer can select a path or path segment at each of a number of points, e.g., decision points, in the narrative presentation via user interface elements or narrative prompts, providing the consumer the opportunity to follow a storyline they find interesting. Each consumer follows a “personalized” path through the narrative. The narrative prompts can include images from subsequent segments, may be generated to stylistically resemble the underlying narrative presentation, may be animated to move with or with respect to the underlying narrative presentation, and, or may be presented in overlaid with a presentation of the underlying narrative while the underlying narrative continues play.

  • Publication number: 20190200102
Abstract: A narrative includes a number of serially connected narrative segments combined by a director or editor in a defined sequence to tell a story. Quite frequently a number of different narrative segments are available to the director or editor. A content delivery editor provides editors and directors with the ability to augment a standard with additional narrative segments that provide alternate perspectives, view, or insights to the narrative consumer. Such provides the ability to convey the same narrative to the narrative consumer using a number of plots, storylines, or perspectives. Branch points in the narrative, defined by the editor or director, provide the narrative consumer the opportunity to follow a storyline they find interesting. Each narrative consumer follows a “personalized” path through the narrative. Through social media, narrative consumers are able to discuss the narrative path with other narrative consumers who have taken a different path through the narrative.

  • Publication number: 20190179623
Abstract: In various embodiments, methods and systems for implementing a device management system with a restore prevention utility are provided. A request is received, at a control server, for an installation file for a restore prevention application. Based on receiving the request, the control server circumvents communication of the installation file based on transmitting a response code. The response code is an informational code that operates as an indicator to wait for a final response. Transmitting the response code triggers maintaining a pending state for the restore prevention application at the controlled device.

  • Patent number: 10319381
Abstract: An interaction assistant conducts multiple turn interaction dialogs with a user in which context is maintained between turns, and the system manages the dialog to achieve an inferred goal for the user. The system includes a linguistic interface to a user and a parser for processing linguistic events from the user. A dialog manager of the system is configured to receive alternative outputs from the parser, and selecting an action and causing the action to be performed based on the received alternative outputs. The system further includes a dialog state for an interaction with the user, and the alternative outputs represent alternative transitions from a current dialog state to a next dialog state. The system further includes a storage for a plurality of templates, and wherein each dialog state is defined in terms of an interrelationship of one or more instances of the templates.

  • Publication number: 20190156247
Abstract: Techniques for dynamic accuracy-based experimentation and deployment of machine learning (ML) models are described. Inference traffic flowing to ML models and the accuracy of the models is analyzed and used to ensure that better performing models are executed more often via model selection. A predictive component can evaluate which model is more likely to be accurate for certain input data elements. Ensemble techniques can combine inference results of multiple ML models to aim to achieve a better overall result than any individual model could on its own.

  • Publication number: 20190131814
Abstract: The wireless management system for energy storage systems includes a plurality of smart cells arranged into a two-dimensional array and a plurality of distributed management units. The smart cells and management units communicate with each other wirelessly via capacitive coupling (not radio). The communication links have extremely short range (typically under 3 mm), are relatively directional, and are electronically-steerable in the plane of the array. The smart cells may also include at least one power resistor and switch for passive cell balancing. The circuitry in the smart cells is typically incorporated into a flexible sheet that wraps around the energy storage device like a label. This system is extremely reliable because it is massively redundant, fault tolerant, and eliminates the wires used in conventional monitoring systems.

  • Publication number: 20190131802
Abstract: A method of managing an energy storage system that includes a plurality of smart energy storage cells, and a related method of operation for said smart cells. The cells are arranged into a two-dimensional array, and at least one management unit for controlling and monitoring the smart cells is coupled to the array. The smart cells and management units engage in wireless communication that has relatively short range and is relatively directional, with the direction being electronically-steerable in the plane of the array. The management method assigns direction codes to each smart cell which the cells utilize to steer the directions of their communication links, thereby organizing the smart cells into a plurality of serially-linked communication networks. The methods include steps for automatically determining the size and arrangement of the array, including the orientation of each smart cell.

  • Publication number: 20190111986
Abstract: An inner tube moves axially between an outer tube and a support, all of which are concentrically arranged, to a desired telescopic position, relative to the outer tube and the support, and can be locked in the desired telescopic position by applying radial force between the support and the inner surface of the inner tube. The radial force generates a frictional force acting on the inner surface of the inner tube, which resists longitudinal movement of the inner tube. A bicycle actuator cable is coupled to an actuation connector for a tension-controlled actuator by a bicycle cable connector which has a fixed longitudinal position on the bicycle actuator cable. The bicycle cable connector is longitudinally consistently removably repeatably interengageable with the actuation connector to maintain longitudinal alignment of the bicycle actuator cable with the actuator through repeated engagement and disengagement of the bicycle cable connector and the actuation connector.
