  • Publication number: 20170203470
Abstract: A process for separating a mixture of materials using a segregation media within a vessel having a central baffle structure which shuggles the mixture by oscillating the baffle structure at a frequency and amplitude. The mixture of materials may have overlapping densities with the segregation media having a density within the overlapping region. Polymers PE and PP may be separated in flake form. For a mixture of materials of differing densities, water may be the segregation media. Shuggling is combined with controlling the flow of water through the vessel at a set velocity. Embodiments are described for separating plastics and mineral ore.

  • Publication number: 20160355198
Abstract: A vehicle control system includes a controller that communicates between a first vehicle and a second vehicle and/or a monitoring device in a vehicle system. The controller determines a communication loss and, responsive to determining the communication loss, switches to communicating via a different communication path. The controller also determines an operational restriction on movement of the vehicle system based on the communication loss that is determined, obtains a transitional plan that designates operational settings of the vehicle system at one or more different locations along a route being traveled by the vehicle system, different distances along the route being traveled by the vehicle system, and/or different times. The controller automatically changes the movement of the vehicle system according to the operational settings designated by the transitional plan to reduce the movement of the vehicle system to or below the operational restriction.

  • Patent number: 9503203
Abstract: Interference cancellation circuitry is provided for reconstructing a wirelessly transmitted modulated signal in a receiver using output of a decoder for calculating per-bit probabilities corresponding to bit-by-bit estimates of a coded message from which one bit hard decisions and multi-bit soft decision can be derived. A soft modulator reconstructs the transmitted modulated signal by calculating a weighted superposition depending upon the hard decisions and at least one combined value computed by combining two or more of the multi-bit soft decisions corresponding to different bits of the coded message. A soft modulation method using combined value(s) in a weighted superposition of hard decisions and computer program code for calculating the combined values and regenerated modulated signal are also provided.
