  • Patent number: 9898360
Abstract: A method that prevents unnecessary data recovery includes receiving, at a data processing device, a status of a resource of a distributed system. When the status of the resource indicates a resource failure, the method includes executing instructions on the data processing device to determine whether the resource failure is correlated to any other resource failures within the distributed system. When the resource failure is correlated to other resource failures within the distributed system, the method includes delaying execution on the data processing device of a remedial action associated with the resource. However, when the resource failure is uncorrelated to other resource failures within the distributed system, the method includes initiating execution on the data processing device of the remedial action associated with the resource.

  • Patent number: 9869036
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a composite fabric having internal axial tows includes a support member configured to engage the fabric substantially up to a composite component form. The support member includes a nonslip portion directly engaging a first outer surface of the fabric. The apparatus further includes a primary securing member engaging and applying pressure on the fabric at a second outer surface of the fabric opposite the first outer surface. Upon displacement of the axial tows of the fabric relative to the first and second outer surfaces, the support member and the primary securing member substantially maintain original configurations of the first and second outer surfaces of the fabric engaged between the support member and the primary securing member.

  • Patent number: 9859763
Abstract: The disclosure relates to printed circuit board motors and specifically to printed circuit boards used in motors and generators. Windings formed from copper on printed circuit boards have been used for purposes of forming antennas, inductors, transformers, and stators that can be incorporated in permanent magnet brushless DC (permanent magnet synchronous) machines. For energy conversion devices using modern permanent magnet materials and PCB stators, the magnetic field is not strongly confined by magnetically susceptible materials. Thus, the interaction between fields from adjacent turns in a winding, and/or windings on adjacent layers (for a multilayer configuration) may be significant. The structures disclosed hereinafter reduce the effective resistance in the windings, and therefore reduce the associated losses to achieve a reduced current density in portions of the rotating energy conversion devices.

  • Publication number: 20170364895
Abstract: A payment processing method involves a server receiving a payee identifier, and linking the payee identifier to a device identifier identifying a payee device. The server receives from a payor device a payment initiation request identifying a specified payment amount and a payor identifier, links a unique token to the specified payment amount and to the payor identifier, and provides the payor device with the token. The token excludes the payor identifier and particulars of the associated payor. The server receives a payment completion request including the payee identifier and the token, and excluding the payment amount, the payor identifier and payor particulars. The server uses the payee identifier to confirm that the payment completion request was signed with the device identifier, uses the payee identifier to locate a payee account, and uses the token to determine the specified payment amount and a payor account associated with the payor identifier.
