  • Publication number: 20170341291
Abstract: A system and method are provided for implementing a process by which printed rolls of substrate material web have additional material layers interleaved between the rolled material web layers to substantially eliminate back transfer or roll offset of printed images on the back sides of the rolled material substrates. In a process for pre-printing thermoforming grade plastic materials to produce rolls of substrate material for use in a thermoforming process, ink compositions, particularly adapted for the thermoforming process, are deposited on substantially continuous webs of substrate material. The webs of substrate material are then re-rolled with separate layers of low surface energy substrate material interleaved between the layers of the printed substrate material in order to substantially eliminate imaging defects produced by back transfer of printed images on to the backs of layers of the printed substrate material stored in rolls.

  • Patent number: 9823948
Abstract: A method includes identifying high-availability jobs and low-availability jobs that demand usage of resources of a distributed system. The method includes determining a first quota of the resources available to low-availability jobs as a quantity of the resources available during normal operations, and determining a second quota of the resources available to high-availability jobs as a quantity of the resources available during normal operations minus a quantity of the resources lost due to a tolerated event. The method includes executing the jobs on the distributed system and constraining a total usage of the resources by both the high-availability jobs and the low-availability jobs to the quantity of the resources available during normal operations.

  • Patent number: 9823980
Abstract: A method of prioritizing data for recovery in a distributed storage system includes, for each stripe of a file having chunks, determining whether the stripe comprises high-availability chunks or low-availability chunks and determining an effective redundancy value for each stripe. The effective redundancy value is based on the chunks and any system domains associated with the corresponding stripe. The distributed storage system has a system hierarchy including system domains. Chunks of a stripe associated with a system domain in an active state are accessible, whereas chunks of a stripe associated with a system domain in an inactive state are inaccessible. The method also includes reconstructing substantially immediately inaccessible, high-availability chunks having an effective redundancy value less than a threshold effective redundancy value and reconstructing the inaccessible low-availability and other inaccessible high-availability chunks, after a threshold period of time.

  • Publication number: 20170326777
Abstract: A flexible die head for continuously extruding pipe may have a flexible ring mandrel (112). A second, open end (120) of the ring mandrel (112) near the die exit may be continuously and resiliently formed to a non-circular shape whilst extruding the pipe so as to provide an extrudate profile to counter slump in plastic pipe forming. Symmetric and asymmetric shapes may be formed by the ring mandrel (112). The second end (120) may be flexed or otherwise distorted by use of a flexing means (122). The ring mandrel (112) may also be necked in a circumferential portion to order to further improve the forming of non-circular shapes.

  • Publication number: 20170331843
Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for targeted attack protection using predictive sandboxing. In exemplary embodiments, a method includes retrieving a URL from a message of a user and performing a preliminary determination to see if the URL can be discarded if it is not a candidate for sandboxing. The exemplary method includes computing a plurality of selection criteria factors for the URL if the URL passes the preliminary determination, each selection criteria factor having a respective factor threshold. The method can further include determining if any of the selection criteria factors for the URL exceeds the respective factor threshold for the respective selection criteria factor. Based on the determining, if any of the selection criteria factors exceeds the factor threshold for the selection criteria factor, the exemplary method includes automatically placing the URL in a sandbox for analysis.

  • Patent number: 9796117
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a flange has a laminate component and a drum supporting the laminate component. A forming tool selectively engages the laminate component. A diaphragm member extends between the drum and the laminate component and selectively engages the forming tool. Movement of the diaphragm member deforms the laminate component away from the drum about an edge of the forming tool, and the laminate component maintains a substantially uniform thickness.

  • Patent number: 9800109
Abstract: The disclosure relates to printed circuit board motors and specifically to printed circuit boards used in motors and generators. Windings formed from copper on printed circuit boards have been used for purposes of forming antennas, inductors, transformers, and stators that can be incorporated in permanent magnet brushless DC (permanent magnet synchronous) machines. For energy conversion devices using modern permanent magnet materials and PCB stators, the magnetic field is not strongly confined by magnetically susceptible materials. Thus, the interaction between fields from adjacent turns in a winding, and/or windings on adjacent layers (for a multilayer configuration) may be significant. The structures disclosed hereinafter reduce the effective resistance in the windings, and therefore reduce the associated losses to achieve a reduced current density in portions of the rotating energy conversion devices.

  • Patent number: 9776205
Abstract: A method of texturing a wall or ceiling with non-acoustical joint compound by providing a collapsible bag having an opening at its top and is adapted to contain non-acoustical joint compound for forming a textured coating on the wall or ceiling and providing a spray nozzle having a low pressure input port, a joint compound suction port attached to the opening at the top of the collapsible bag, and an output port for spraying the non-acoustical joint compound. A low pressure stream of air from an air gun attached to the low pressure input port urges a small quantity of the non-acoustical joint compound to be sprayed out of the spray nozzle when the bottom of the collapsible disposable bag is raised above its top to either allow or force the joint compound to flow into the suction port and into the interior of the spray nozzle.

  • Publication number: 20170258511
Abstract: A method and system of providing therapy to a patient's uterus is provided, which can include any number of features. The method can include the steps of inserting a uterine device into the uterus and performing a uterine integrity test to determine that the uterus is intact and not perforated. If it is determined that the uterus is not perforated, a patency test can be performed to determine that the uterine device is not clogged or embedded in tissue. If the uterus is intact and the device is not clogged or embedded in tissue, the uterus can be treated with the uterine device, e.g., uterine ablation. Systems for performing these methods are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20170248481
Abstract: An apparatus for an imbalance test includes a strain measurement module that measures a strain voltage across terminals of a strain gauge. The strain voltage is representative of an amount of force on the strain gauge. The apparatus includes a test measurement module that measures a test voltage across the terminals of the strain gauge while a test resistor is connected in parallel with a resistor of the strain gauge. The test resistor is connected while the test measurement module measures the test voltage and is disconnected while the strain module measures strain voltage. The apparatus includes an average module that calculates an average strain voltage from two strain voltage measurements. The strain voltages are measured preceding and after the test voltage measurement. The apparatus includes a difference module that determines a difference voltage. The difference voltage is a difference between the average strain voltage and the test voltage.
