Abstract: A mixed-reality system causes a magnetic transmission device to transmit a magnetic field signal. The mixed-reality system also causes a magnetic-field sensing device to determine a measurement of the magnetic field signal. The mixed-reality system then identifies, using one or more input devices, that a magnetically-interfering object is located within a same environment as both the magnetic transmission device and the magnetic-field sensing device. The mixed-reality system also determines one or more characteristics of magnetic field interference that the magnetically-interfering object is imparting on the magnetic transmission device or the magnetic-field sensing device. The mixed-reality system then computes an adjustment to a pose-estimation model based upon the one or more characteristics of magnetic field interference. The pose-estimation model is used to calculate a pose of at least one of the magnetic transmission device or the magnetic-field sensing device.

  • Publication number: 20180184166
Abstract: A processing device for generating a viewing data report is disclosed. The processing device may include a memory device and a processor. The memory device may store instructions. The processor may be operatively coupled to the memory device. The processor may execute the instructions to: determine first viewing data associated with a first ACR event; determine second viewing data associated with a second ACR event; determine that a data field of a plurality of data fields in the first viewing data is incomplete; derive new data for the data field using other data fields of the first viewing data; aggregate the first viewing data and the second viewing data into a single data model to obtain aggregated viewing data of viewing behavior of a first viewer and a second viewer; and create a viewing data report as a compilation of the aggregated viewing data.

  • Publication number: 20180179970
Abstract: A variety of methods and arrangements are described for controlling transitions between firing fractions during skip fire or other dynamic firing level modulation operation of an engine. In general, actuator first transition strategies are described in which an actuator position (e.g., cam phase, TCC slip, etc.) is changed to, or close to a target position before a corresponding firing fraction change is implemented. When the actuator change associated with a desired firing fraction change is relatively large, the firing fraction change is divided into a series of two or more firing fraction change steps. A number of intermediate target selection schemes are described as well.

Couplers include pins and bottom supports to engage apertures and bottom surfaces of corner fittings for intermodal cargo containers. The couplers may also include sidewall supports to engage forward facing side surfaces of the corner fittings. The pins, bottom supports, and sidewall supports hold an intermodal cargo container in place through a relatively large range of acceleration forces without damaging the corner fittings of the intermodal cargo containers. The couplers are selectively movable from a retracted position to an extended position to engage the corner fittings of the intermodal cargo containers.

  • Publication number: 20180178017
Abstract: A hermetically sealed feedthrough for attachment to an active implantable medical device includes a dielectric substrate configured to be hermetically sealed to a ferrule or an AIMD housing. A via hole is disposed through the dielectric substrate from a body fluid side to a device side. A conductive fill is disposed within the via hole forming a filled via electrically conductive between the body fluid side and the device side. A conductive insert is at least partially disposed within the conductive fill. Then, the conductive fill and the conductive insert are co-fired with the dielectric substrate to form a hermetically sealed and electrically conductive pathway through the dielectric substrate between the body fluid side and the device side.

  • Publication number: 20180183997
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to capturing panoramic images using a computing device. For example, the computing device may record a set of video frames and tracking features each including one or more features that appear in two or more video frames of the set of video frames within the set of video frames may be determined. A set of frame-based features based on the displacement of the tracking features between two or more video frames of the set of video frames may be determined by the computing device. A set of historical feature values based on the set of frame-based features may also be determined by the computing device. The computing device may determine then whether a user is attempting to capture a panoramic image based on the set of historical feature values. In response, the computing device may capture a panoramic image.

  • Publication number: 20180180599
Abstract: Various techniques are provided to determine the presence of trace chemicals corresponding to various materials of interest. In one example, a method includes providing a chemical reporter of a chemical detector. The chemical reporter includes protonated 2-[5-methoxy-2-(4-phenyl-quinoline-2yl)-phenyl]-ethanol. A vapor-phase amine compound is subsequently received at the chemical reporter. The chemical detector then detects a response of the chemical reporter to the amine compound to determine whether materials of interest are present. Additional methods and related devices are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20180178217
Abstract: Described herein are digital microfluidic (DMF) devices and corresponding methods for managing reagent solution evaporation during a reaction. Reactions on the DMF devices described here are performed in an air or gas matrix. The DMF devices include a means for performing reactions at different temperatures. To address the issue of evaporation of the reaction droplet especially when the reaction is performed at higher temperatures, a means for introducing a replenishing droplet has been incorporated into the DMF device. A replenishing droplet is introduced every time when it has been determined that the reaction droplet has fallen below a threshold volume. Detection and monitoring of the reaction droplet may be through visual, optical, fluorescence, colorimetric, and/or electrical means.

  • Publication number: 20180180168
Abstract: A transmission includes an input shaft coupled to a prime mover, a countershaft, main shaft, and an output shaft, with gears between the countershaft and the main shaft. A shift actuator selectively couples the input shaft to the main shaft by rotatably coupling gears between the countershaft and the main shaft. The shift actuator is mounted on an exterior wall of a housing including the countershaft and the main shaft. An integrated actuator housing includes a single external power access for the shift actuator. A controller interprets a shaft displacement angle, determines if the transmission is in an imminent zero or zero torque region, and performs a transmission operation in response to the transmission in the imminent zero or zero torque region.

  • Publication number: 20180178503
Abstract: The invention pertains to a printing form and a process for preparing a polymeric printing form from a curable composition that includes a multifunctional urethane in a specified reactive group equivalent weight range, and an initiator. The process includes coating the curable composition onto a supporting substrate, such as a print cylinder, to form a layer, curing the layer with heat or by exposure to actinic radiation, and engraving the resulting cured layer to form at least one printing cell in the cured layer. The process prepares novel polymeric printing forms, particularly novel polymeric gravure printing forms, having a cured polymer-based composition layer that is engravable, resistant to solvent inks, and capable of printing gravure-quality images. The present invention shortens the time to prepare gravure printing cylinders and removes the need for and disposal of toxic heavy metals such as copper and chrome associated with conventional gravure print cylinder preparation.

  • Publication number: 20180180424
Abstract: A method of in-vehicle tracking that may begin with establishing a communication link between a mobile device and a navigation system of a vehicle. The navigation system may present driving instructions leading to a destination. Each of a plurality of locations may be serially passed over the communication link from the mobile device to the navigation system. Additionally, each of the plurality of locations may be serially set, as it is communicated, as the destination within the navigation system. As the destination within the navigation system is updated, the driving instructions leading to that destination may be updated as well.
