  • Publication number: 20100216528
Abstract: In a portable telephone having a television receiving function that can be opened and closed in a longitudinal direction and in a transverse direction, a television broadcast can be seen in a horizontally long screen, however, a representation of an operating portion such as a ten-key remains to be a representation of the portable telephone. A key sheet (13) of the operating portion is stuck to a frame (6) sliding in a first casing (1). A cam (12) is provided in association with a first rotational axis (9). When a second casing (2) is opened in the longitudinal direction, the rotation of the first rotational axis (9) together with the second casing (2) is used to shift the frame (6) by the movement of the cam (12). The representation of the operating portion such as the ten-key is changed from the arrangement of figures for selecting a channel to the arrangement of figures for a telephone and the direction of the representation is also changed to that of a representation rotated by 90 degrees.

  • Patent number: 7760615
Abstract: A rewritable phase-change optical recording medium is provided, which includes a substrate, a first information layer, a spacer layer, a second information layer, and a cover layer. The second information layer includes a recording film containing Sb as a main component and V or V and In as second components. When an amorphous mark formed in the recording film is irradiated with a reproduction beam, crystallization of the amorphous mark occurs only in a central portion in the width direction of the amorphous mark. The width direction is orthogonal to the scanning direction of the laser beam. The recording film is formed of a material that exhibits a change in degree of modulation of 5% or less when recorded information is repeatedly reproduced. The change in degree of modulation is a change from when the number of times of reproduction is 100,000 to when it is 400,000.

  • Patent number: 7742374
Abstract: A method of recording data on a double-layer optical recording medium having a recording layer with high light transmittance is provided. A laser beam is modulated to emit a pulse series of laser including a write pulse of a write power and a cooling pulse of a bottom power, so as to encode and write data to be recorded as recording marks of a length nT along a track of the recording layer, where n is an integer and T is one clock cycle. An nT recording mark is formed using (n?1) write pulse(s), and when forming a recording mark of 4 T or longer, a cooling pulse with a pulse width of 0.8 T to 2 T is inserted before the last write pulse. Recording marks are thereby accurately formed without heat interference between consecutive recording marks and cross erase between recording marks of adjacent tracks.

  • Patent number: 7738335
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a method of recording information to an optical recording medium that is suited to achieving high data transfer rates. The method of recording information according to the present invention is adapted for recording information to an optical recording medium by forming on the optical recording medium a plurality of recording marks selected from a group consisting of several types of recording marks each with different lengths, wherein a bottom power of a laser beam used for forming at least one recording mark contained in the group is set to be higher than a reproducing power of a laser beam used for reproducing information. According to the present invention, since the bottom power helps to erase a recording mark, it is possible to maintain a high erase efficiency even when information is recorded by setting a high data transfer rate.

  • Patent number: 7701838
Abstract: In an optical information medium having an information bearing surface having projections and depressions and/or capable of forming recorded marks, a functional layer is added. The information borne on the information bearing surface can be read by using reading light of a wavelength longer than 4NA·PL wherein PL is the minimum size of the projections and depressions or the recorded marks and NA is the numerical aperture of a reading optical system, setting the power of the reading light within such a range that the functional layer does not change its complex index of refraction, and irradiating the reading light to the information bearing surface constructed by the functional layer or to the information bearing surface through the functional layer or to the functional layer through the information bearing surface. The medium enables reading at a high resolution beyond the diffraction limit.
