  • Patent number: 6037647
Abstract: A semiconductor device formed on an epitaxial substrate includes a high-resistance region in the vicinity of an interface between a doped semiconductor substrate and an epitaxial layer thereon. The high-resistance region is advantageously formed by an ion implantation process of a dopant opposite to a dopant contained in the doped semiconductor substrate such that there is formed a depletion of carriers in the vicinity of the foregoing interface.

  • Patent number: 5870224
Abstract: The present invention provides a lenticular sheet in which cylindrical lens parts including a radiation curable resin are formed on one side of a transparent support, and at least a light-diffusing layer and light-blocking stripes are formed on the flat surface located on the opposite side of said sheet. Cylindrical lens parts with a fine pitch of 0.3 mm or less can be obtained; furthermore, finely pitched light-blocking stripes can be accurately formed in the desired positions.A projection screen constructed by combining the aforementioned lenticular sheet with a Fresnel lens sheet is ideally suited for viewing a liquid crystal projection TV with a high image definition.

  • Patent number: 5724068
Abstract: A computer joystick capable of detecting the position of a control stick in the X and Y directions, as well as the rotational (R) position of the control stick to allow three positional measurements to be made. The joystick uses an optical position detection circuit with a pair of light sources mounted either on the control stick or a printed circuit board mounted beneath the control stick. A photodetector assemble is mounted opposite the pair of light sources to detect light from the light sources. The distribution of the light intensity is indicative of the position of the control stick in the X, Y, and R directions. A single coil spring is used to return the control stick to a resting position when released by the user. The single spring provides an even return force that is dependent on displacement from the resting position. The bottom portion of the control stick moves in a three dimensional arcuate path as the control stick is manipulated by the user.

  • Patent number: 5358289
Abstract: The present invention pertains to an improvement in buttress-threaded tubular connections. In particular, the connection is improved by controlling the tubular member thread pitch diameter tolerance to .+-.0.0015 inch, to provide a thread bearing contact pressure which is relatively constant over the entire length of the connection. In addition, the improved connection provides a reduction in hoop stress of about 20% over known buttress-threaded tubing connections. The present invention typically includes the use of variable make-up in combination with the control of the tubular member thread pitch diameter tolerance.

  • Patent number: 5090606
Abstract: A combustion gas powered fastener driving tool includes inlet and outlet openings through which the combustion gases are discharged from a combustion chamber. These openings are located above the uppermost driving position (top dead center) of a slidable piston, so that an air and fuel mixture is fully trapped in the combustion chamber until after it is combusted. Since an outflow of the unburnt air and fuel mixture is completely prevented, the rate of fuel consumption of the fastener driving tool is high and there is no danger of accidental explosion of unburned fuel even when the fastener driving tool is used in a badly ventilated working place or site. An electric fan for forcing fresh air into the combustion chamber is disposed outside the cylinder and isolated from high temperatures. The fan is durable in structure and reliable in operation.
