  • Publication number: 20230125848
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, performing resource coordination to support integrated access and backhaul (IAB) link migration events in 5G new radio (NR) networks. Migration events may be a result of any factor including handovers, secondary cell changes, or radio link failures. • Publication number: 20230086079
Abstract: The technology is generally directed towards sending multiplexing capability data between integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes, such as for use in coordinating the communications of the nodes, including using multiplexed resources. In addition to different types of multiplexing capabilities, the technology facilitates sending condition data (e.g., measured interference, traffic, beam data and the like) by which a parent node can make determinations with respect to coordinating (e.g., scheduling and/or guard symbol usage) child node communications. Further, the technology provides for sending usage criterion data with the multiplexing capability indication data, such that, for example, any specified usage criterion needs to be satisfied before a particular type of multiplexing can be used.

  • Publication number: 20230086340
Abstract: A closed loop carrier sense multiple access multiuser request to send and clear to send handshaking system is provided to efficiently allocate licensed and unlicensed spectrum for a plurality of mobile devices and across different base stations and mobile network operators. A user equipment device can be connected to a base station device via a first frequency in licensed spectrum, and a second frequency in unlicensed spectrum. The air interface on the first frequency can then be used to coordinate physical and virtual carrier sensing on a second frequency among a plurality of user equipment devices. Moreover, carrier sensing results from a plurality of UEs can be reported a base station device via the first frequency in licensed spectrum. The base station device can then schedule multiple user multiple input, multiple output (MU-MIMO) transmissions to a plurality of UEs on the second frequency in unlicensed spectrum.

  • Publication number: 20230092424
Abstract: The technology is generally directed towards configuring, coordinating, and operating across multiple frequency carriers or bands on one or more access and backhaul links. An integrated access and backhaul (e.g., child) node, for example, determines first multiplexing capability data representative of a first multiplexing capability for a first frequency resource, and determines second multiplexing capability data representative of a second multiplexing capability for a second frequency resource. The first and second multiplexing capability data for the first and second resources are communicated to a second (e.g., parent) integrated access and backhaul node. Quality of service can be applied across multiple frequency carriers utilized by the integrated access and backhaul node for access and backhaul links. Also described is supporting multifrequency operation outside of the radio access network for non-new radio-based traffic backhauling.

  • Patent number: 11606248
Abstract: In a 5G network, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) deployment in a 5G network, can enable aggregation of multiple user equipment (UE) bearers into backhaul bearers based on factors such as route information of UE bearers and quality of service of UE bearers. Additionally, an adaptation layer can be configured to perform aggregation of data from UE bearers into backhaul bearers either above or below a radio link control layer. Thus, aggregation of data from UE bearers into backhaul bearers can be performed either above the RLC or below the RLC to take advantage of benefits from both options.

  • Patent number: 11576034
Abstract: One subscriber identity module (SIM) can transmit data in active mode while another SIM is in an idle mode. However, paging for the SIM in idle mode can occur based on a discontinuous reception configuration (DRX) cycle of the active SIM. For example, when the DRX of the active SIM indicates that the active SIM is in an idle state, then the SIM that is currently in an idle state can send messages and vice versa. The DRX cycle information can be exchanged between a first core network and a second core network. Each core network can belong to the same or different mobile network operator and can have separate radio access networks (RAN) or share the RAN. The DRX cycle information and/or a time-division multiplexing (TDM) pattern can be exchanged over the air via a system information broadcast message.

  • Patent number: 11576135
Abstract: An integrated access and backhaul network is provided with network nodes that can establish timing synchronization with any other network nodes. In an embodiment, network nodes in a multi-hop integrated access and backhaul network have a hop order of n, wherein n represents a number of hops from a node connected to the core network via a wired connection. In an embodiment, instead of using the network node with a hop order of 0 as the timing synchronization reference for over-the-air synchronization, any network node can use any other network node as a synchronization reference. A relay node can first establish a wireless link to said arbitrary node. Said wireless link is then used to synchronize the relay or IAB node using a Precision Time Protocol (PTP) implementation.

  • Publication number: 20230012517
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards operating a user equipment node as a scheduler user equipment (e.g., which can be a local manager of other nodes in a group). The scheduler user equipment receives a scheduling request for the scheduling of the resources for transmission of data by a transmitter user equipment, and based on the traffic type requested, schedules the transmitter user equipment and receiver user equipment(s) with scheduling data / allocated radio resources. The transmitter user equipment can directly transmit to the receiver user equipment(s) on the allocated radio resources, e.g., without further involvement of the scheduler user equipment / local manager. For cellular data, the scheduler user equipment can schedule the transmitter user equipment to transmit to the scheduler user equipment as a receiver node.

  • Patent number: 11558915
Abstract: The same or similar physical signals can be used for both user equipment (UE) and an integrated access backhaul (IAB) node. Different configurations of resources and/or transmission periods of the signals can be used for initial access for access UEs and IAB nodes. In addition, since the UE functionality for IAB nodes is not fully identical with access UEs, the network can identify which UEs performing initial access are normal access UEs or are IAB nodes with UE functionality. Furthermore, the parameters for configuring radio resource management operation at the IAB node gNode B function can consider a half-duplex constraint imposed by the UE function and can also analyze hop order and other topology/route management functionalities.

  • Publication number: 20220377846
Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for the provisioning of backhaul links over a 5G NR (New Radio) integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network for access nodes using non-5G radio access technologies. In this way, the IAB network can service devices that are connected to the core network via older 3GPP technologies, or even non-3GPP technologies such as Wi-Fi. An IAB mobile terminal can be provided at the end point access node to make the access node an IAB node. Using an existing internet protocol (IP) routing in the IAB network, or providing for an IP tunnel between the endpoint access node and the core network can then facilitate providing backhaul services for the non-5G access node.

  • Publication number: 20220369303
Abstract: To facilitate signal alignment for an integrated access backhaul (IAB) node, a system can determine a subset of beams that can be used for communication transmissions. Based on a signal quality associated with the subset of beams, the system can indicate that the subset of beams is to be used for the communication transmission. Consequently, the subset of the beams or another subset of the subset of the beams can be utilized for the communication transmission based on the signal quality of the beams.
