  • Patent number: 11497048
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards operating a user equipment node as a scheduler user equipment (e.g., which can be a local manager of other nodes in a group). The scheduler user equipment receives a scheduling request for the scheduling of the resources for transmission of data by a transmitter user equipment, and based on the traffic type requested, schedules the transmitter user equipment and receiver user equipment(s) with scheduling data/allocated radio resources. The transmitter user equipment can directly transmit to the receiver user equipment(s) on the allocated radio resources, e.g., without further involvement of the scheduler user equipment/local manager. For cellular data, the scheduler user equipment can schedule the transmitter user equipment to transmit to the scheduler user equipment as a receiver node.

  • Publication number: 20220303867
Abstract: In a 5G network, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network can experience radio link failures or radio blockage conditions in mmWave frequency bands. Local IAB nodes that experience such conditions can make route changes in response to such situations to prevent packet loss or significant packet delay. Thus, in an IAB network, local IAB nodes can also utilize a routing function that monitors local conditions of IAB links to determine whether a change in route is required or not. Additionally, the local IAB nodes can receive external routing updates that can preempt a local IAB node routing function. Consequently, the IAB node can consider local routing preferences and external routing preferences prior to updating a routing table of the IAB node.

  • Patent number: 11451342
Abstract: The disclosed subject matter is directed towards scheduling and Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) operations by which nodes in a three party communication system can communicate. To schedule a data transmission from a transmitter node to receiver node(s), a local manager/scheduler node sends common downlink control information to the transmitter and receiver nodes. Via a scheduling request, the transmitting node can request the scheduling of the data transmission by the local manager node. The technology facilitates unicast and broadcast/multicast data transmissions; for a unicast data transmission, the scheduling request identifies the receiving node. The transmitting node can explicitly acknowledge reception of the downlink control information to the local manager node, or the local manager node can detect the data transmission, when it occurs, as an implicit acknowledgment that the common downlink control information was successfully received.

  • Patent number: 11445573
Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for the provisioning of backhaul links over a 5G N R (New Radio) integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network for access nodes using non-5G radio access technologies. In this way, the IAB network can service devices that are connected to the core network via older 3GPP technologies, or even non-3GPP technologies such as Wi-Fi. An IAB mobile terminal can be provided at the end point access node to make the access node an IAB node. Using an existing internet protocol (IP) routing in the IAB network, or providing for an IP tunnel between the endpoint access node and the core network can then facilitate providing backhaul services for the non-5G access node.

  • Publication number: 20220264567
Abstract: Integrate access and backhaul (IAB) nodes can multiplex access and backhaul links in time, frequency, or space, which includes the transmission of signals and/or channels utilized as part of initial access and measurements used for radio resource management (RRM). The same physical layer signals and channels used for these purposes by access a user equipment device can be reused for performing similar procedures at the IAB node. Consequently, the IAB node can leverage various muting patterns to employ the use of half-duplex and full-duplex synchronization signal block radio resource management such that mobile terminal functionality and distributed unit functionality of the IAB node can receive and transmit signals simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20220166498
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards dynamic resource coordination that supports multi-hop based relaying for integrated access and backhaul (IAB) in New Radio (5G). Described is a technology in which an IAB node and a serving parent node use wireless signaling to dynamically adapt downlink and uplink resources used for access and backhaul links. An IAB node receives scheduling data from a parent node, configures a frame structure comprising mobile termination function subframes and distributed unit component subframes, and communicates data based on the frame structure. The parent node explicitly or implicitly indicates that a portion of the scheduling data is adaptable, e.g., sends a dynamic frame structure coordination message. In response, the IAB node can adapt the frame structure into a modified frame structure and can communicate further data based on the modified frame structure.
