  • Publication number: 20170174252
Abstract: A steering assistance actuator for a vehicle includes a actuator shaft, a torque sensor, a motor, a drive mechanism and a drive housing. The actuator shaft is rotatable about a first axis. The actuator shaft includes an integral torque sensor. The motor has an output shaft rotatable about a second axis. The second axis is substantially parallel to the first axis. The drive mechanism is disposed between and drivingly connects the motor and the steering column. The drive mechanism provides a speed reduction from the motor to the actuator shaft. The drive housing encloses the torque sensor and the drive mechanism and is separate from a steering gear. The drive housing also has a mounting feature to which a housing of the motor is fixed. The drive housing also has a first bearing and a second bearing rotatably supporting the actuator shaft in the drive housing.

  • Publication number: 20170174558
Abstract: A photochromic glass that includes a base glass and a photochromic agent is described. The base glass is a modified boroaluminosilicate glass and the photochromic agent is a nanocrystalline cuprous halide phase. The photochromic glass exhibits a sharp cutoff in the UV or short wavelength visible portion of the spectrum along with an absorption band at longer wavelengths in the visible. The nanocrystalline cuprous halide phase includes Cu2+, which provides states within the bandgap of the cuprous halide that permit the glass to absorb visible light. Absorption of visible light drives a photochromic transition without compromising the sharp cutoff. The nanocrystalline cuprous halide phase may optionally include Ag.

  • Publication number: 20170090508
Abstract: The clock frequency of a processor is reduced in response to a dispatch stall due to a cache miss. In an embodiment, the processor clock frequency is reduced for a load instruction that causes a last level cache miss, provided that the load instruction is the oldest load instruction and the number of consecutive processor cycles in which there is a dispatch stall exceeds a threshold, and provided that the total number of processor cycles since the last level cache miss does not exceed some specified number.

  • Patent number: 9594713
Abstract: Bridging strongly ordered write transactions to devices in weakly ordered domains, and related apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed. In one aspect, a host bridge device is configured to receive strongly ordered write transactions from one or more strongly ordered producer devices. The host bridge device issues the strongly ordered write transactions to one or more consumer devices within a weakly ordered domain. The host bridge device detects a first write transaction that is not accepted by a first consumer device of the one or more consumer devices. For each of one or more write transactions issued subsequent to the first write transaction and accepted by a respective consumer device, the host bridge device sends a cancellation message to the respective consumer device. The host bridge device replays the first write transaction and the one or more write transactions that were issued subsequent to the first write transaction.

  • Publication number: 20170046158
Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying candidate load instructions for prefetch operations based on at least instruction encoding of the load instructions, include an identifier based on a function of at least one or more fields of a load instruction and optionally, a subset of bits of the PC value of the load instruction, wherein the one or more fields exclude a full address or program counter (PC) value of the load instruction. Prefetch mechanisms, including a prefetch table indexed by the identifier, can determine whether the load instruction is a candidate load instruction for prefetching load data, based on the identifier. The function may be a hash, a concatenation, or a combination thereof, of one or more bits of the one or more fields. The fields include one or more of a base register, a destination register, an immediate offset, an offset register, or other bits of instruction encoding of the load instruction.

  • Publication number: 20160253451
Abstract: A method for producing a template of a binding site of a target protein is provided. A target protein is modeled in silico. A binding site is hydrated with water molecules by finding areas within the binding site where water molecules remain localized during a molecular dynamic simulation. Interactions of the water molecules with the hydration sites are classified as a hydrogen bond acceptor interaction (A) or a hydrogen bond donor interaction (D). The classified interactions are mapped to provide a template of hydrogen bond interactions with the protein.

  • Patent number: 9329930
Abstract: Aspects disclosed herein include cache memory error detection circuits for detecting bit flips in valid indicators (e.g., valid bits) in cache memory following invalidate operations. Related methods and processor-based systems are also disclosed. If a cache hit results from access to a cache entry following an invalidate operation, a bit flip(s) has occurred in a valid indicator of the cache entry. This is because the valid indicator should indicate an invalid state following the invalidate operation of the cache entry, as opposed to a valid state. Thus, a cache memory error detection circuit is configured to determine if an invalidate operation was performed on the cache entry. The cache memory error detection circuit can cause a cache miss or an error for the accessed cache entry to be generated as a result, even though the valid indicator for the cache entry indicates a valid state due to the bit flip(s).

  • Publication number: 20160102245
Abstract: Methods include providing an aqueous slurry of ceramic forming raw materials, where at least a portion of the ceramic forming raw materials are enhanced particulates, and flowing the slurry through at least one extrusion die face to form slurry bodies while the slurry is under a hypotensive condition which is less than about 30 kPa, or otherwise pressure lower than conventional extrusion pressures using unenhanced raw materials. The slurry bodies may then be received in a collecting hopper, and thereafter sintering to form particles, such as ceramic proppant particles. Enhanced particulates may be raw material particulates that are coated, selectively shaped, of particular size(s), or any combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 9292442
Abstract: Techniques are described for a multi-processor having two or more processors that increases the opportunity for a load-exclusive command to take a cache line in an Exclusive state, which results in increased performance when a store-exclusive is executed. A new bus operation read prefer exclusive is used as a hint to other caches that a requesting master is likely to store to the cache line, and, if possible, the other cache should give the line up. In most cases, this will result in the other master giving the line up and the requesting master taking the line Exclusive. In most cases, two or more processors are not performing a semaphore management sequence to the same address at the same time. Thus, a requesting master's load-exclusive is able to take a cache line in the Exclusive state an increased number of times.
