  • Publication number: 20050071089
Abstract: It is intended to support a unique design of a primer. To calculate an indication showing the occurrence frequency of a sequence in a genome sequence, the occurrence frequencies of partial sequences having a definite length in the genome sequences are calculated. Then the occurrence of frequency of each partial sequence of the definite length is stored in an incidence/isolation degree table (16). Concerning each partial sequence of the definite length, a degree of isolation i, which means that j mutation indicating the conversion of j bases (j=<i?1) does not occur in the genome sequence but i mutation indicating the conversion of i bases occurs in the genome sequence, is calculated. Then the degrees of isolation of the partial sequences of the definite length are stored in the incidence/isolation degree table (16).

  • Publication number: 20010033759
Abstract: There is provided an image forming method and apparatus in which plural identical images are formed on an intermediate transfer member without using a large capacity memory and output efficiency can be improved. Image data read by a reading portion is stored in a memoryportion, and on the basis of the image data stored in the printing portion, two identical images are formed on the intermediate transfer member in a period in which the intermediate transfer member makes one rotation.

  • Patent number: 5973797
Abstract: The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus in which a structure is simple and in which the size of a document can be detected in a short time, wherein the levels of signals, which are outputted from photoelectric elements within a plurality of sensing regions on a light-receiving portion of a line sensor correspond to a pair of nearby regions (#1 and #2, #3 and #4, #5 and #6, and #7 and #8) which hold each edge (e.g., edges 64A, 64B, 64C in FIG. 5) of the plurality of documents of different sizes disposed on a platen glass, are compared to a threshold value, or alternatively, the change in the levels of signals which are outputted from the photoelectric elements within a plurality of sensing regions (e.g., #1, #2 and #3 in FIG. 11) continuously cross each edge of the plurality documents of different sizes is obtained in order to determine the size of the document.

  • Patent number: 5332558
Abstract: An improved method is proposed for the preparation of a powder of rare earth oxide of which the particles have a predominantly polyhedral configuration with a relatively large particle size to be suitable, for example, as a host of phosphors. The method comprises the steps of (a) precipitating a rare earth ammonium oxalate by the admixture of an aqueous solution of a rare earth salt and ammonium oxalate, (b) separating the precipitates from the aqueous medium, (c) washing the same with deionized water to be freed from electrolytes, (d) dispersing and keeping the precipitates in a hot water bath at 50.degree. C. or higher for at least 15 minutes, (e) collecting the precipitates and (f) calcining the precipitates of the rare earth ammonium oxalate into oxide. It is essential that the steps (a) to (c) are conducted at a temperature of 40.degree. C. or below or, preferably, 30.degree. C. or below.

  • Patent number: 5252548
Abstract: In a method of forming an oxide superconductor/semiconductor junction between an oxide superconductor and a semiconductor containing bismuth or thallium, an atomic layer of silver of no more than 3 atoms thickness is formed by vapor deposition of silver on the surface of the semiconductor, an atomic layer of bismuth or thallium of no more than 3 atoms thickness is formed by vapor deposition of bismuth or thallium on the silver layer, the double atomic layer consisting of silver and bismuth or of silver and thallium are heated to form a layer wherein the atoms of silver and bismuth or silver and thallium are arranged regularly on the surface of the semiconductor, and the oxide superconductor is formed to a specified thickness on the regularly arranged layer.

  • Patent number: 5230081
Abstract: A location method and system for a mobile communication system having a plurality of zones and a plurality of sectors in each zone. The location method and system locate a zone and sector in a zone where a mobile station is located. In the location system a base station associated with each zone transmits a control channel signal and transmits a sector signal for each sector in the zone. Each control signal of a zone differs from control channel signals of other zones. Each sector signal differs from other sector signal and control channel signals. A mobile station controller associated with each mobile station receives the control channel signals, determines which zone the mobile station is in as a location zone based on the received control channel signals, receives sector signals for sectors within the location zone, and determines which sector of the location zone the mobile station is in as a location sector based on the received sector signals.

  • Patent number: 5146214
Abstract: Mobile stations are classified into a first grouped station which is portable, and a second ungrouped station which is carried by a vehicle. A grouped station receives a part of the time slots of a paging channel relating to the group which the station belongs, and an ungrouped station receives all the time slots of a paging channel. A base station having a plurality of buffer cells (1-n) relating to each group, stores the queue of the paging signals in each buffer cell, and broadcasts the content of each buffer cell in the related time slot of the paging channel. A paging signal for a grouped station is stored in the related buffer cell, and a paging signal for an ungrouped station is stored in the buffer cell which has the shortest queue. Thus, a grouped station saves battery power because of intermittently receiving a paging signal, while keeping a short waiting time for an ungrouped station, and small call loss ratio.

  • Patent number: 5087817
Abstract: The invention relates to an infrared ray moisture meter which measures moisture of paper using absorption of infrared rays, and in which infrared rays being penetrated and scattered by the paper are sufficiently independent of whether the paper is thin or thick, in which sensitivity is high, in which attenuation of rays is small and error due to misalignment in the XY direction is small. Also, concurrently, in the invention, adverse influence due to quality of the paper is reduced by applying infrared rays which are absorbed by moisture, infrared rays which are absorbed by cellulose, and infrared rays which are not absorbed by moisture or cellulose, and by computing the value of moisture from signals detected from the application of the different infrared rays. In one embodiment a device is provided with a shielding plate having two mirrored surfaces disposed between the paper being measured and a lower one of a pair of reflectors.
