  • Publication number: 20150157210
Abstract: A two-photon imaging system capable of imaging of an image region in real time is presented. The imaging system comprises a source of excitation light that provides the excitation light as a plurality of laser beamlets. The plurality of laser beamlets is collectively scanned by a single-axis scanner along a first direction in the focal plane of the image region and oriented such that neither the rows nor columns are aligned with the first direction. As a result, each laser beamlet scans a different sub-region of the image region and the plurality of sub-regions are simultaneously scanned. As a result, the entirety of the image region is scanned in the same amount of time required to scan one image sub-region.

  • Patent number: 9054308
Abstract: A fabrication process for a resistance-switching memory cell uses metal oxide as a resistance-switching material. A metal oxide film having an initial stoichiometry is deposited on an electrode using atomic layer deposition. A changed stoichiometry is provided for a portion of the metal oxide film using a plasma reduction process, separate from the atomic layer deposition, and another electrode is formed adjacent to the changed stoichiometry portion. The film deposition and the plasma reduction can be performed in separate chambers where conditions such as temperature are optimized. The metal oxide film may be deposited on a vertical sidewall in a vertical bit line 3d memory device. Optionally, the mean free path of hydrogen ions during the plasma reduction process is adjusted to increase the uniformity of the vertical metal oxide film. The adjustment can involve factors such as RF power, pressure and a bias of the wafer.

  • Patent number: 9020212
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of automatically determining a name of a person appearing in an image includes receiving a collection of web pages containing a plurality of images. For each of the images, a set of names associated with the image is identified based on a text analysis of at least one of the web pages. Face detection and clustering is performed on the plurality of images to generate a plurality of face clusters. For each of the face clusters, a label for the face cluster is identified based on the set of names associated with each image in the face cluster. A name of a first person appearing in at least one of the images is determined based on the identified label for one of the face clusters associated with the first person.

  • Publication number: 20150053870
Abstract: A multi-foci laser scanning microscope generates a set of time-multiplexed beams that are simultaneously scanned over multiple scan areas of the sample to be observed. A photodetector array associated with the beams detect fluorescence signals from the sample. A processor processes output signals from the photodetector array based on the time-multiplexing of the beams to provide a much wider field of view and reduced crosstalk between neighboring scan areas for more accurate imaging.

  • Publication number: 20140374456
Abstract: A portable tennis apparatus comprising a tennis bag, a tennis ball retrieving unit, a stretchable back bar and an extendable bottom stand. The ball retrieving unit retrieves balls on the ground directly to the bag; the stretchable back bar can be pulled up and pushed around with rolling means on the ground easily. The top opening of the bag made it easy to reach the balls for replay. The extendable stand can raise the tennis bag at a desirable level for dispensing balls so that the player does not have to bend down. The stretchable back bar and the stand can be put back to their original position during the transportation of the apparatus, such as between tennis court and player's home. The entire apparatus is light-weighted, easily carried and operated single-handed. This apparatus is truly an “all-in-one” tennis apparatus, and a revolution in the field of tennis equipment.

  • Patent number: 8891916
Abstract: A surface-plasmon-polaritons (SPPs) tunable optical resonant ring filter that includes an SPPs waveguide, an SPPs tunable directional coupler, and an SPPs tunable resonant ring. The tunabilities of the resonant frequency, the resonant depth, and the filtering bandwidth are achieved by tuning the loss and transmission phase of the resonant ring and the coupling ratio of the directional coupler. Since the metal core layer of the SPPs waveguide is capable of multiplexing electro-optical signals, the SPPs tunable optical resonant ring filter can be used not only in an integrated optics system, but also in an integrated electro-optics hybrid system.

  • Patent number: 8861873
Abstract: The disclosure is related to a system and method for learning robust clothing clustering based on a cluster ensemble technique applied to the clothing features of images to improve clustering of images. Different types of clothing features that are complementary to each other are computed to provide extensive description of the clothing in the images. Multiple partitions are computed based on the clothing features to generate a cluster ensemble set. A consensus function is applied to the multiple partitions to generate a final clothing consensus clustering that encompasses the information contained in the multiple partitions. A system and method are disclosed for clustering images based on the clothing of one or more persons in the images.
