  • Publication number: 20050227262
Abstract: Cholesterol inhibitor produced by Monascus, monacolin k, is a secondary metabolite of polyketides. The invention provides probes specific to monacolin k biosynthesis gene cluster. BAC clones having putative monacolin k gene cluster were screened from BAC (bacterial artificial chromosome) library, and sequencing and annotation were performed on these clones. The results show that 2 polyketide synthase (PKS) genes and 7 regulatory genes related to monacolin k synthesis were obtained. Full-length cDNAs of these genes were then obtained by RT-PCR and cloned to expression vectors for the expression of these genes.

  • Patent number: 6932272
Abstract: A micro bar code and a recognition system and method thereof are provided. The micro bar code is provided with a plurality of nanounits disposed in a predetermined arrangement. The nanounits are provided with nanomolecules having different sizes respectively. In the recognition system and method, a sensing module senses the arrangement of the nanounits and the sizes of the nanomolecules on the micro bar code. The sensing result from the sensing module is transmitted to an operating module and then inputted to a bar code database that stores information corresponding to arrangement of each set of nanounits and sizes of each set of nanomolecules, so as to recognize the information on the micro bar code to be recognized. Finally, the recognition result is transmitted back to the operating module for recording. The micro bar code has advantages of small size and large data storage capacity.

  • Patent number: 6250804
Abstract: A self-lubricating linear guide apparatus in which a lubricant storage chamber is formed within the slider so that no additional space is required. A fibrous member is employed which is inserted into the lubricant storage chamber to directly lubricate unloaded rolling elements such that loss of lubricant oil due to leakage is minimized and contamination to the working site is prevented. In addition, metallic powder or dust produced during manufacturing process can not ingress into the slider to choke up the fibrous member. An oil infusing aperture is reserved on the slider for replenishing the lubricant oil into the lubricant storage chamber in the case that lubricant oil stored therein is used up without the need of detaching the linear guide apparatus. The self-lubricating linear guide apparatus completely eliminates the disadvantage of too frequent lubricant oil replenishment as that is necessary for conventional techniques.
