    Abstract: A non-volatile memory (NVM) apparatus and an empty page detection method thereof are provided. The NVM apparatus includes a NVM and a controller. The controller reads the content of a memory page of the NVM. The controller performs Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) decoding for at least one codeword of the memory page to obtain a decoded codeword and a check-result vector. The controller determines that the memory page is not an empty page when the LDPC decoding for the codeword is successful. The controller counts an amount of the bits being 1 (or 0) in the check-result vector when the LDPC decoding for the codeword is fail. Based on the amount of the bits being 1 (or 0) in the check-result vector, the controller determines whether the memory page is an empty page.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a cerium oxide based composite polishing powder and a preparation method thereof. The polishing powder contains the element magnesium in an amount of 0.005 wt %-5 wt % to magnesium oxide meter. The preparation method includes: (1) uniformly mixing a salt solution containing cerium serving as the main component of the polishing powder; (2) uniformly mixing a precipitating agent of an aqueous magnesium bicarbonate solution with the mixed solution prepared in step (1) to obtain a slurry; (3) aging the slurry prepared in step (2) for 0-48 h while the temperature of the slurry is kept at 30-90 degrees centigrade, and filtering the aged slurry to obtain the precursor powder of the polishing powder; (4) calcinating the precursor powder at 600-1000 degrees centigrade, then dispersing and separating the calcinated precursor powder to obtain the polishing powder. The present invention improves the polishing performance and the suspension performance of polishing powder.

    Abstract: A tunable optical filter utilizes a pair of diffraction gratings and a rotating mirror to achieve a broad filter passband or wavelength bandwidth. By adjusting a small angle between the two diffraction gratings, such as less than approximately 15 degrees, the wavelength bandwidth of the tunable optical filter's passband may be arbitrarily adjusted or set. The two-grating system results in a narrower angular dispersion coefficient than could be achieved through the use of a single grating with similar properties. The narrower angular dispersion in turn results in a broader filter passband or wavelength bandwidth.

When a decoding iteration on the codeword fails to satisfy predetermined decoding criteria, the method includes, for the two or more codeword portions of the codeword: determining a bit-flip count between raw read data for a respective codeword portion and a decoding result for the respective codeword portion after the decoding iteration; determining a soft information offset for the respective codeword portion based on the bit-flip count for the respective codeword portion relative to bit-flips counts for other codeword portions; and adjusting soft information for the respective codeword portion based on the soft information offset.
