  • Patent number: 6866314
Abstract: A tweezers with a touching pad having a soft and resilient pad on each pincer to provide comfort as well as prevent corns and callouses from forming on the fingers. The touching pad is a pad by itself or a pad supported by a pad holder. The pad may be installed directly to the pincers by squeezing the tail portion of the pad into an opening bored on the pincers. The pad may also be supported by a touching pad holder inserted into each pincer of the tweezers. The pad holder generally have an upper or top band bordering an open space joined to either a lower band or an L-shaped claw. The touching pad holder is held to the pincers by inserting a tail portion of the pad into an opening bored on the pincers through the open space bordered by the upper or top band. The touching pad can also be installed on the pincers by sliding a touching pad holder having a planar pad into each pincers. The touching pad is either stationary or movable.

  • Publication number: 20050019993
Abstract: A method of forming a fin field effect transistor on a semiconductor substrate includes forming a vertical fin protruding from the substrate. A buffer oxide liner is formed on a top surface and on sidewalls of the fin. A trench is then formed on the substrate, where at least a portion of the fin protrudes from a bottom surface of the trench. The trench may be formed by forming a dummy gate on at least a portion of the fin, forming an insulation layer on the fin surrounding the dummy gate, and then removing the dummy gate to expose the at least a portion of the fin, such that the trench is surrounded by the insulation layer. The buffer oxide liner is then removed from the protruding portion of the fin, and a gate is formed in the trench on the protruding portion of the fin.

  • Publication number: 20040262687
Abstract: A method of forming a fin field effect transistor on a semiconductor substrate includes forming an active region in the substrate, forming an epitaxial layer on the active region, and removing a portion of the epitaxial layer to form a vertical fin on the active region. The fin has a width that is narrower than a width of the active region. Removing a portion of the epitaxial layer may include oxidizing a surface of the epitaxial layer and then removing the oxidized surface of the epitaxial layer to decrease the width of the fin. The epitaxial layer may be doped in situ before removing a portion of the epitaxial layer. The method further includes forming a conductive layer on a top surface and on sidewalls of the fin. Related transistors are also discussed.

  • Patent number: 6836265
Abstract: A method of driving a liquid crystal display panel that is adaptive for providing the entire panel with a brightness uniformity. In the method, the scanning direction of the panel is inverted at a desired period, for example, every frame, or within a frame. Accordingly, the average turn-on interval of all of the pixels within the panel becomes equal, so that the brightness of the entire panel can be uniform.

  • Patent number: 6826772
Abstract: A disk clamping apparatus for a disk player includes a turntable for receiving a disk, a disk clamper which clamps the disk placed on the turntable, and first and second magnetic bodies which are mounted in the corresponding turntable and the disk clamper and provide a clamping force to the disk by acting a reciprocal magnetic force on the turntable and the disk clamper. The first and second magnetic bodies are opposite to each other and partially overlap each other. In the disk clamping apparatus having the above structure, the variation in a clamping force caused by the variation in thickness of disks, received by the disk clamping apparatus, is very small. Accordingly, clamping and de-clamping of the disks having different thickness can be smoothly performed.

  • Publication number: 20040200998
Abstract: This invention relates to complex lithium metal oxides, which are cathode active materials of a lithium or lithium ion secondary battery with enhanced cycle life and safety, and a process for preparation thereof. The core particles are complex lithium metal oxides capable of absorbing, storing and emitting lithium ions, and a coating layer comprised of amorphous complex lithium cobalt oxides that are formed on the surface of the core particle, which is structurally stable and inactive with electrolytes. Because the amorphous complex lithium cobalt oxides are inactive with electrolytes, the oxides stabilize the surface structure of the complex lithium metal oxide and improve on high temperature storage properties, as well as safety and cycle life.

  • Patent number: 6791933
Abstract: An optical pickup apparatus having compatibility with a recodable compact disk (CD-R) and a digital video disk (DVD), which uses a wavelength of one of a first light beam and a second light beam according to the recording medium to be used. In the optical pickup apparatus, laser light sources emit a first light beam having a relatively shorter wavelength for the. DVD and a second light beam having a longer wavelength for the CD-R, respectively. An objective lens has a predetermined focal length in accordance with the position of an information recording surface in the DVD. An optical path control unit controls the path of light beams so that the light beam emitted from one of the laser light sources is directed to the objective lens and the light output from the objective lens is directed to the optical detection unit.

  • Patent number: 6788645
Abstract: A disk cartridge includes a case which contains a disk, and a shutter which opens/closes at least one opening formed in the case. The shutter is configured to be foldable around upper and lower surfaces of the case, and slides on the upper and lower surfaces of the case to open/close the opening. Since the shutter opens/closes the opening while being folded around the upper and lower surfaces of the case, a movable distance of the shutter for opening/closing the opening can be fully accommodated even though the size of the disk cartridge is reduced. In addition, applying the configuration of the shutter to a double-sided disk cartridge prevents an inflow of dust from entering into the double-sided disk cartridge since the shutter closes an opening, which is not in use, during a recording/reproducing operation.
