  • Publication number: 20060036905
Abstract: When receiving a verification command for verifying a part of the disk array, each of the disks of the disk array are simultaneously verified such that a part of the disk array practically verified is larger than the part assigned to be verified in the verification command, and verification results are recorded. When receiving the next verification command for verifying another part of the disk array, if the part to be verified is already verified, then the recorded verification result is directly returned in response to the present verification command, thus an efficiency of verifying disk arrays can be raised.

  • Patent number: 6999445
Abstract: A multiple access telecommunication system is provided, which makes use of chaotic signals. Each transmitter has a chaotic system, which has at least one strange attractor in its phase space, and each receiver has chaotic systems, which corresponds to those in the transmitters from which it may receive signals. Each pair of users is assigned a set of periodic unstable orbits from a strange attractor, which that pair of users may use for signalling. At the transmitter side, a multiplexer receives data from plurality of users. These data are multiplexed in time, to produce an asynchronous data stream. The data stream is then mapped to a sequence of chaotic signals, in accordance with the set of trajectories for each transmitter and receiver pair.

  • Publication number: 20060031638
Abstract: While performing data transfer for reading data from a source disk or disks and writing the read data to disks of a disk array, data reading is repeated until accumulated read data can be split into several sub-data with a data size of each sub-data not smaller than a write maximum. Then, these sub-data are written into the disks of the disk array. In this way, the invention can take full advantage of each writing control to write as much data as possible, and the number of writing controls can be reduced to reduce the demands on the computer system.

  • Publication number: 20060026328
Abstract: For error tolerance in a redundant array disks (RAID), a parity data is calculated according to plurality of data respectively accessed in disks of the RAID. A hardware calculation module for parity calculation can be implemented in a RAID controller. With direct memory access (DMA) capability of the RAID controller, the calculation module performs parity calculation by directly accessing a system memory for the plurality of data and the parity data. Thus, memory resources of the parity calculation can be supported by the system memory, and a central processing unit (CPU) can be offloaded during parity calculation.

  • Publication number: 20050044419
Abstract: A RADIUS server is provided with the capability of authenticating a wireless access point whose IP network address has been dynamically allocated. One the wireless access point has received its IP network address on booting a request for authentication is sent to the RADIUS server from a wireless access point. The RADIUS server determines a MAC address, a IP network address, and an authenticator from the request. The MAC address is used to determine a shared secret which is used to verify the message attribute authenticator for the request, which is used for verifying both addresses. The method and apparatus can be applied to other AAA server protocols, for example Diameter protocol.

  • Publication number: 20050009488
Abstract: An OFDM wireless transceiver uses a digital automatic gain control (AGC) module. The digital AGC module is configured for setting a gain to an initial gain value for mapping a received wireless signal to a first power value for an input circuit having a prescribed input range. The initial gain value is set relative to the prescribed input range and a prescribed signal to noise ratio. If the digital AGC module determines that the first power value of the received wireless signal does not exceed the prescribed input range, the digital AGC module calculates an optimum gain for the received wireless signal relative to the initial gain value and the first power value; if the first power value exceeds the prescribed input range, the AGC module determines the optimum gain based on setting the gain to a minimum gain value.

  • Publication number: 20050003798
Abstract: Wireless data services such as wireless email are becoming common, and in particular, “always-on” systems, where new email is automatically forwarded by the service provider to the wireless device. The problem is that there is no effective mechanism for implementing “always-on” systems when the user is moving around a network, or from one network to another. The invention addresses this problem by generating a session key at the service provider's system for a given data session, and returning this session key to the mobile device. Each time the mobile device communicates with the service provider, it enters this session key into a field that will simply pass through the communication network to the service provider. This allows the service provider to manage the data session, preparing proper accounting records and directing the deletion of stale data sessions on network resources.
