  • Patent number: 10388573
Abstract: A method for fabricating a Fin-FET device includes providing a base structure and a plurality of fin structures protruding from the base structure. Along a direction perpendicular to the surface of the base structure and from the bottom to the top of each fin structure, the width of the fin structure perpendicular to the length direction of the fin structure decreases. The method further includes forming a gate structure on the base structure across each fin structure and covering a portion of top and sidewall surfaces of the fin structure, and removing a portion of the fin structure on each side of the gate structure to form a trench in the fin structure. Along the length direction of the fin structure, the bottom width of the trench is smaller than the top width of the trench. The method also includes filling each trench with a doped source/drain epitaxial layer.

  • Publication number: 20190236362
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for capturing color images of items for a machine-learning model. In one method, a request, for adding an item to be visually recognized during sales transactions, is detected at a checkout apparatus. Further, the method includes capturing and storing a color image, by each of one or more cameras of the checkout apparatus, of an examination space when the item is present. Further, the capturing and storing of color images of the item is repeated at different poses until at a predetermined number of color images of the item are captured. Further, the method includes generating, by a processor of the checkout apparatus, additional images of the item by modifying the captured color images. A machine-learning model for item recognition is built by training a machine-learning tool with the captured images and the additional images.

  • Publication number: 20190236360
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for providing a feedback loop to improve object image-based recognition based on transaction data. In one method, instructions are received defining items to be visually recognized by a terminal. For each item, a check is made to determine if item image information is in a global database or if it is a new item. The global database includes item images captured during transactions performed at several terminals. For each item in the global database, item image information is downloaded from the global database. For new items, terminal cameras capture pose images for several poses of the new items, each camera taking an image for each pose. A machine-learning program is trained with the downloaded image information and the pose images, where the machine-learning program performs image-based recognition of the items that are presented at the terminal, based on images captured by the cameras.

  • Publication number: 20190230635
Abstract: The present invention is designed so that, when special subframes are allowed to transmit a PUSCH, the transmission of the PUSCH can be controlled adequately. According to the present invention, a user terminal has a receiving section that receives downlink control information (DCI) that schedules an uplink (UL) shared channel, and a control section that controls transmission of the UL shared channel by using a table that associates a subframe, in which the DCI is received, and a timing, at which the UL shared channel is transmitted, per UL/downlink (DL) configuration. The transmission timing in the table is determined based on a special subframe, which is allowed to transmit the UL shared channel, and a predetermined reference value, which is lower than 4 ms.

  • Publication number: 20190229569
Abstract: Systems and methods for constructing permanent magnet electric motors in which rotors have magnetically permeable end rings that are active for torque production. In one embodiment, a rotor section has a set of flat, generally annular laminations stacked on an inner rotor sleeve, with a pair of end rings positioned at opposing ends of the lamination stack to secure the stack. One or both of the end rings is made of a magnetically permeable and highly resistive material such as a soft magnetic composite, so that the end ring(s) actively produce torque during operation of the motor without significant increase in core loss at end rings. A set of permanent magnets are installed in or on the rotor core formed by the laminations. These magnets or other magnets may be positioned to axially overlap with the end rings and aid active torque production by the end rings.

  • Patent number: 10340758
Abstract: A permanent magnet motor has a number of permanent magnets forming permanent magnet poles. Each magnet has an outer surface that is an arc surface with a convex middle. An inner surface of the magnet is a curved surface with a concave middle. The curved surface has an arc surface section and two planar surface sections. The arc surface has a pole arc angle ? of 0.7 to 0.96, and the ratio of an arc angle ? of the arc surface section to the pole arc angle ? is 0.15 to 0.35. The shape of the inner surface of the magnet creates uneven air gaps between the rotor poles and the stator core poles. This reduces cogging torque, increases the motor efficiency, and reduces the motor noise.

  • Publication number: 20190199032
Abstract: A convertible force latching system includes two complementary connector bodies. Each connector body has a first mating face under which two series of magnets oriented alternating directions. A moving portion of the latching system allows the connector bodies and the magnets within to alter their alignment by the interaction of a user along a predetermined motion path. In a first arrangement, the series of magnets are aligned with such that the magnets of one connector body are attracted to the magnets of the other connector body. When the user actuation shifts the moving portion, the second arrangement positions the series of magnets such that they are aligned such that the magnets of one connector body are repelled to the magnets of the other connector body.
