  • Publication number: 20160381673
Abstract: A base station or user equipment (UE) may manage scheduling of code blocks to be transmitted and manage memory interface usage to enhance memory read and write operations and provide for enhanced efficiency for decoding of retransmissions of code blocks. In some aspects, a base station or UE may identify an available throughput, or budget, for performing read and write operations to a memory. The base station or UE may then estimate an amount of read and write operations to be performed during a particular time period. In the event that the amount of read and write operations exceed the budget, scheduling of code blocks to be transmitted may be adjusted, one or more read or write operations may be skipped, or combinations thereof may be employed to achieve the memory read and write budget.

  • Publication number: 20160380724
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for soft hybrid automatic repeat request operation in wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may fail to decode a received signal, for example. The UE may store a portion of the signal in a buffer if the signal size is greater than the buffer size; otherwise, the UE may store the entire signal in the buffer. The UE may then receive a second signal and combine the second signal with the stored portion of the first signal; the combined signal may be larger than the buffer size. This combined signal may, for example, have a code rate less than the first signal. The UE may perform a second decoding attempt on the combined signal. The UE may determine that the second decoding attempt failed and may store a portion of the combined signal in the buffer.

  • Patent number: 9531512
Abstract: Techniques are described for downlink coordinated multi-point (CoMP) procedures for access to a contention-based radio frequency spectrum band. A base station performs a contention procedure, such as a clear channel assessment (CCA) procedure, for access to the radio frequency spectrum band. The base station determines whether contention has been won for a time period, and communicates whether or not contention has been won to other base stations in a CoMP cooperating set. Based on the information exchanged between base stations in the CoMP cooperating set, coordinated communications is initiated to a UE with two or more of the base stations in the CoMP cooperating set.

  • Patent number: 9531494
Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method may include transmitting a reference signal from an access point over a shared spectrum to a user equipment (UE), and receiving a measurement of the reference signal from the UE. A second method may include receiving at a UE over a shared spectrum a reference signal from an access point, and transmitting a measurement of the reference signal to the access point. In each of the first and second methods, the measurement may indicate interference with the shared spectrum from outside of a clear channel assessment (CCA) range of the access point.

  • Publication number: 20160373943
Abstract: A wireless device may determine a coverage enhancement (CE) level (or coverage extension) by attempting to decode a received broadcast signal. The wireless device may attempt to decode a portion of the broadcast signal using a CE level that is less than the CE level of the broadcast. If the decoding attempt is successfully, the CE level may be declared as an operating CE level. If decoding is unsuccessful, the CE level may be increased decoding retried. The wireless device may continue to test-decode the broadcast signal at new (e.g., increasing) CE levels until a CE level is sufficient for a decode and is declared the operating CE level of the wireless device. In some cases, the wireless device test-decodes a broadcast channel after selecting a CE level based on a path loss measurement of a downlink signal (e.g., reference signal).

  • Publication number: 20160374035
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a set of non-overlapping periodic intervals for monitoring a synchronization signal, which may be composed of or may include a repeated sequence; and the UE may identify possible timing structure (e.g., subframe, slot, etc.) boundaries using the intervals. The UE may then determine that one of the possible boundaries is a boundary using a second synchronization signal. For instance, the UE may perform a cumulative correlation during each of a series of correlation periods corresponding to the periodic intervals. Each of the cumulative correlations may contain multiple coherent correlations associated with the sequence repetitions. From the cumulative correlations, the UE may identify possible boundaries. The UE may perform a secondary correlation based on a second synchronization signal for each possible boundary in order to determine the system timing.

  • Patent number: 9521602
Abstract: Wireless communication systems and methods are described where communication is established with a user device at a low frequency. Coarse channel information, such as pathloss, power delay profile, and multipath direction information, regarding the communication between a wireless network device and the user device at the low frequency may then be used to establish communication with the user device at a high frequency.

  • Patent number: 9521646
Abstract: A method of wireless communication includes generating a unique position reference signal (PRS) for a remote radio head having a same physical cell identity (PCI) as a macro eNodeB. The unique PRS is based on a virtual cell ID and/or unique cell global identification (CGI) of the remote radio head such that the unique PRS is different from a PRS of the macro eNodeB. The PRS of the macro eNodeB is based on the PCI. The method also includes transmitting the unique PRS.

  • Publication number: 20160360550
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may operate in a system that supports operation with transmission time intervals (TTIs) of different durations. The UE may monitor for a grant during a first TTI and may determine the communication direction of a second TTI based on a received grant. The UE may re-determine the communication direction of the second TTI based, for example, on an explicit indication. In some examples, the UE may adapt uplink scheduling timing based on the indicator. In some examples, a UE may communicate in one direction during a TTI of a first duration and may communicate in a different direction during a TTI of the second duration that is within the TTI of the first duration.

  • Patent number: 9515808
Abstract: Techniques for sending control information to support operation on multiple component carriers (CCs) are disclosed. A user equipment (UE) may be configured with multiple CCs for carrier aggregation. The multiple CCs may be associated with different uplink-downlink configurations and may have different downlink subframes and uplink subframes. In one aspect, uplink control information (UCI) for a secondary CC (SCC) may be sent on a primary CC (PCC) based on a UCI transmission timeline for the PCC (and not based on a UCI transmission timeline for the SCC). For example, a downlink grant for the SCC may be sent based on a downlink grant transmission timeline for the PCC. In another aspect, uplink grants for an SCC may be sent on the PCC based on an uplink grant transmission timeline for the PCC (and not based on an uplink grant transmission timeline for the SCC).

  • Patent number: 9509483
Abstract: Signaling and procedural considerations are disclosed for uplink multiflow operations in user equipment configured for carrier aggregation. Advanced wireless networks may take advantage of unused capacity of neighboring cells by configuring network nodes and UEs to both receive on the downlink and transmit on the uplink to multiple cells or network nodes. Implementing multiflow on UE for the uplink transmission process may cause issues in various channels, signaling, and procedural operations that may be addressed through data and control signaling the techniques disclosed herein.

  • Publication number: 20160345249
Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method for wireless communication at a base station includes contending for access to a shared channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band, and multiplexing first component carrier (CC) communication windows and second CC communication windows in the shared channel. A duration of orthogonal frequency domain multiplexed (OFDM) symbols of the first CC communication windows may be different from a duration of OFDM symbols of the second CC communication windows, and the multiplexing may occur on the shared channel upon winning contention for access to the shared channel. One method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes monitoring a shared channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band for a first CC Listen Before Talk (LBT) frame, and receiving, in a second CC preamble, an indication of the first CC LBT frame.
