  • Patent number: 9497645
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided that include selecting reference signal (RS) or other tones to utilize in estimating a channel for decoding one or more channels. Where the RS tones are interfered by other base stations, interference cancelation can be performed over the RS tones. Since interference can vary over the tones, interference cancelation can yield RS tones of varying quality. Thus, a quality of each of the RS tones can be determined, and at least a subset of the RS tones can be selected for estimating a channel. Additionally or alternatively, the RS tones can be weighted or otherwise classified for performing channel estimation using the RS tones.

Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatuses, and devices are described for wireless communications. In one method, an opportunity may be identified for a first operator to perform a clear channel assessment (CCA) for a shared spectrum. The opportunity may be based on a priority of the first operator with respect to at least one other operator associated with the shared spectrum. • Patent number: 9474067
Abstract: Techniques for improving uplink throughput of UE uplink transmissions are disclosed. The UE may communicate with an eNB over an LTE wireless link using a first radio, and with a WLAN access point over a WLAN wireless link using a second radio. The UE may schedule a first portion of uplink data from an aggregating layer of the UE for transmission over the WLAN wireless link during a scheduling window, the scheduling based on an availability of access to the LTE wireless link. The UE may transmit the first portion of the uplink data over the WLAN wireless link during the scheduling window. The aggregation of the LTE wireless link with the WLAN wireless link may allow the UE to transmit uplink data from the aggregating layer of the UE over both the LTE wireless link or the WLAN wireless link.

  • Patent number: 9461736
Abstract: Techniques for efficiently sending and receiving data in a wireless communication system are described herein. The techniques utilize a slot structure that is backward compatible with existing design. The techniques include sending and receiving forward link packets that occupy less than a full slot of the slot structure. An output waveform, which includes at least one slot, is generated at an access point. Each slot is segmented into two half-slots, wherein at least one half-slot includes a data unit of a packet. At a terminal, the output waveform is received and processed to extract the data unit and the data unit is processed to determine whether it is accurate. The terminal also generates ACK/NACK information in response to the results of processing the data unit and transmits channel information including the ACK/NACK information. The access point interprets the ACK/NACK information to determine if the data unit should be resent.

  • Publication number: 20160269154
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for supporting common reference signaling in wireless communications systems. Some configurations introduce a phase discontinuity between common reference signal (CRS) transmissions on different subframes. This may address issues that may arise when a reduced CRS periodicity is utilized. Indicators may also be transmitted from base stations to user equipment (UEs) to indicate whether phase continuity may be assumed or not. Some configurations may support CRS sequence initialization. These tools and techniques may utilize an extended CRS sequence periodicity, which may increase the number of CRS sequences transmitted by a cell.

  • Publication number: 20160255676
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Discontinuous reception (DRX) operation may be configured differently on enhanced component carriers (eCCs) than on other component carriers, including a primary cell (PCell). In some cases, a user equipment (UE) may be configured with several different eCC DRX modes. An eCC DRX configuration may, for example, be coordinated with downlink (DL) transmission time interval (TTI) scheduling so each DRX ON duration may correspond to a DL burst duration of the corresponding eCC. The eCC DRX ON durations may also be scheduled according to hybrid automatic repeat request (HARD) process scheduling. In some examples, eCC DRX ON durations may be based on listen-before-talk (LBT) procedures. In some cases, eCC DRX ON durations may be configured to contain an uplink (UL) burst to enable channel state information (CSI) reporting. The eCC DRX may also be configured to minimize interruption of the PCell.

  • Publication number: 20160248555
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a device. A device may distinguish a preamble sent from a device configured for a first RAT (e.g., WLAN, Wi-Fi, etc.) from a preamble sent from a device configured for a second RAT (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-U, etc.). A wireless device associated with a second RAT may transmit a dual-use preamble over a contention-based frequency channel. The dual-use preamble may function as a valid preamble for a first RAT and may be received and decoded by devices associated with the first RAT in addition to devices associated with the second RAT. The dual-use preamble may also include a signature associated with the second RAT. The signature may be embedded with the preamble such that it minimizes interference with the valid preamble and be detected by devices associated with the second RAT.
