  • Publication number: 20120256402
Abstract: A curtain airbag of a curtain airbag system includes a main chamber stored in a folded condition in a roof side portion that extends rearward from a front pillar, and a front auxiliary chamber formed integrally with the main chamber and stored in a folded condition in a roof header portion. The main chamber is inflated with gas supplied thereto in the event of a side impact of a vehicle and rollover of the vehicle, to be deployed like a curtain downwardly of the vehicle. The front auxiliary chamber is inflated with gas supplied thereto at least in the event of rollover of the vehicle, to be deployed in front of the main chamber such that a lower portion of the front auxiliary chamber as seen in a side view of the vehicle overlaps a front side door.

  • Publication number: 20120248751
Abstract: A curtain air bag system includes a curtain air bag that is housed folded up in an upper edge portion of a door opening, and that includes a first deployment portion that deploys when a vehicle is collided with in a side collision as well as when the vehicle rolls over, and a second deployment portion that deploys at least when the vehicle rolls over, by receiving a supply of gas. The first deployment portion deploys in a cylindrical shape extending in a vehicle longitudinal direction, above a belt line such that a rear end side of the first deployment portion overlaps with a center pillar when viewed from a side of the vehicle, and the second deployment portion deploys such that a lower end extends below the belt line, in a position not overlapping with the first deployment portion when viewed from the side.

  • Patent number: 8276936
Abstract: An automotive airbag apparatus is able to reduce the shock caused by early deployment of airbag against a passenger not in a position for safe airbag restraint, and further able to deploy quickly and effectively when a passenger is in a position for safe restraint. The airbag apparatus includes an airbag housing in which a folded airbag resides until deployed by the gas from an inflator, an airbag door that opens on a hinge from the pressure applied by the deploying airbag, and a restrictor member extending over the folded airbag beneath the airbag door with a direction from front to rear of the vehicle. The restrictor member has a fixed end at forward part thereof attached to the airbag housing, and a releasable fixed or free end at rearward part thereof, the free end coming into frictional contact with the airbag door in the vicinity of the hinge as the airbag door is pushed out by the early phase of the airbag deployment.

  • Publication number: 20120200069
Abstract: A curtain airbag apparatus is provided with a curtain airbag that is embedded, in a folded or rolled state, in an upper edge portion of at least one door opening and deploys into a form of a curtain, the curtain airbag having: a first deployment portion deploying downward by inflating with gas supplied from upon a side collision and rollover of the vehicle; a second deployment portion deploying downward by inflating with gas supplied at least upon a rollover of the vehicle, such that the second deployment portion is located in an area that does not overlap, as viewed laterally, an area in which the first deployment portion is located; and an internal pressure difference creator that makes an internal pressure of the second deployment portion higher than an internal pressure of the first deployment portion at least upon a rollover of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8238770
Abstract: A fixing device includes a fixing roller, a pressure roller and a soaking roller. Temperature of the soaking roller, which contacts with the pressure roller, is measured by a temperature measurement section. This makes it possible to precisely estimate the temperature distribution of the fixing roller and the pressure roller including a non-paper feed area of paper sheets. Based on the temperature of the soaking roller, fixing operation is controlled by a fixing operation control section. Thereby, optimal control can be implemented to suppress the temperature rise in the non-paper feed area according to the estimated temperature distribution of the fixing roller and the pressure roller.

  • Publication number: 20120126517
Abstract: A curtain air bag system includes a main deployment portion for an occupant seated in a front seat, that is housed folded up in an upper edge portion of an opening in a vehicle body, and inflates by receiving a supply of gas when the vehicle is in a side collision and when the vehicle rolls over, and deploys in a curtain shape downward with respect to the vehicle; an auxiliary deployment portion that inflates by receiving a supply of gas via a gas passage that is communicated with a portion of the auxiliary deployment portion in a vertical direction of the vehicle, and that deploys such that a lower end side, when viewed from a side, overlaps with a side door forward of the main deployment portion; and a connecting portion that connects a portion on an upper end side of the auxiliary deployment portion to a front pillar.

  • Publication number: 20120098240
Abstract: A vehicle air bag system includes a side air bag that is housed folded up in a vehicle seat and that deploys between an occupant seated in the vehicle seat and a front side door by receiving a supply of gas when a side collision occurs, and a curtain air bag that is housed folded up in an upper edge portion of a door opening and that deploys in a curtain shape downward by receiving a supply of gas when a side collision and a rollover occur. The curtain air bag has a delay chamber that deploys later than a main chamber by receiving a supply of gas from the main chamber via a narrowed passage. The delay chamber deploys with a lower end side below a beltline and in an area that overlaps with a deployment area of a side air bag.
