    Abstract: A method of handling interworking from 5G system (5GS) to 2/3G for an PDU session with a 3GPP EPS PDN leg is proposed. Upon intersystem change from S1 mode to A/Gb mode or Iu mode, for a PDN connection which was established as a user plane resource of an MA PDU session: if the SM activates a PDP context using parameters from the default EPS bearer context of the PDN connection, then the SMF can initiate a network-requested PDU session release procedure over non-3GPP access or perform a local release of the MA PDU session; the UE can perform a local release of the MA PDU session. Otherwise, the SMF can initiate a network-requested PDU session modification procedure over 5G non-3GPP access to move traffic of the MA PDU session to 5G non-3GPP access, or initiate a network-requested PDU session release procedure over non-3GPP access.

    Abstract: A method of handling multi-access (MA) Protocol data unit (PDU) session establishment procedure for an MA PDU session already established with a 3GPP PDN leg is proposed. In one novel aspect, for a 5GS MA PDU session already established on 3GPP access via an EPS PDN connection, upon receipt of a PDU SESSION ESTABLISHMENT ACCEPT message over non-3GPP access, the UE performs a local release of the MA PDU session if any value of at least one of the critical MA PDU session parameters, including the PDU session type, selected SSC mode, 5GSM cause, PDU address, S-NSSAI, and DNN IEs in the PDU SESSION ESTABLISHMENT ACCEPT message is different-from/un-sync/not-matched/not-compatible-with the corresponding stored value of the MA PDU session mapped from the (default EPS bearer of the) PDN connection. The UE also performs a REGISTRATION procedure over non-3GPP access and a TAU procedure over 3GPP access.

    Abstract: A method for handling a PDU session release command for releasing an MA PDU session with a PDN connection established as user-plane resource on 3GPP access is proposed. For an MA PDU session with both EPS/4G 3GPP leg and 5GS non-3GPP leg, if UE/NW wants to release the MA PDU session, UE/NW needs to initiate two procedures. First/Second, to release the EPS 3GPP leg, UE/NW should initiate a PDN disconnect procedure/deactivate EPS bearer context procedure or a detach procedure. Second/First, to release the 5GS non-3GPP leg, UE/NW should initiate a PDU session release procedure. The UE/NW can also initiate two procedures simultaneously. It is also possible that the UE initiates one procedure and the NW initiates the other procedure.

The UE can be configured with subscription information of the HSP network. The subscription information can include the HSP subscription and a home SP selection list that includes one or more candidate networks each represented by an SNPN identifier. The method can further include responsive to the system information, selecting a network from the home SP selection list according to a priority order of the candidate networks, and accessing the network selected from the home SP selection list using the HSP subscription.

    Abstract: When a UE is registered to the same PLMN or SNPN over 3GPP and non-3GPP access, the UE and the AMF maintain one 5G-GUTI that is common to both 3GPP and non-3GPP access. When the UE is required to re-register to the network, the UE follows the procedures of deregister over both accesses, delete the common shared 5G-GUTI, and re-register over both accesses. The UE needs to perform the above procedures in a graceful sequence. In one novel aspect, the UE triggers the re-registration (either over 3GPP or non-3GPP access) after the completion of deregistration over both 3GPP and non-3GPP access. In addition, the UE deletes the common 5G-GUTI only after the completion of deregistration over both 3GPP and non-3GPP access.

The ME/UE determines whether there is a closed access group (CAG) information list stored in a USIM utilized by the ME. The CAG information list includes an entry that specifying a public land mobile network (PLMN) ID and a CAG ID that in combination uniquely identify a CAG cell. When the CAG information list is detected: the ME/UE maintains the CAG information list for selecting the CAG cell for the ME to access; the ME/UE searches for the CAG cell according to the CAG information list.

    Abstract: A method of handling NAS signaling connection release and rejection of paging under transmission failure for MUSIM UE is proposed. UE has established a NAS signaling connection or has received a paging from the network on the first USIM. However, UE has more important job to be started or ongoing on the second USIM. UE then initiates a service request procedure by transmitting a service request to the network, to release the NAS signaling connection or to reject the paging on the first USIM. Due to poor radio signal quality, a transmission failure occurred. In one novel aspect, UE does not restart the service request procedure. Instead, UE locally releases the NAS signaling connection on the first USIM. As a result, UE is able to start the more important job on the second USIM, or the user experience on the second USIM is improved.

If a UE requests the network to support paging restriction over the first USIM, the UE can send a request message to the network, carrying a UE-preferred paging restriction information. Subsequently, the UE should then receive an accept message from the network that the paging is restricted over the first USIM based on the UE-preferred paging restriction information. As a result, when DL signaling is pending for the UE over the first USIM, the network can determine whether it should page the UE over the first USIM based on the paging restriction type indicated in the paging restriction information.     Abstract: A method of handling NAS signaling connection release under mobility management congestion control for MUSIM UE is proposed. A MUSIM UE has established a NAS signaling connection on a first USIM in connected mode. Later on, the MUSIM UE has more important job to be started on the second USIM. The MUSIM UE wishes to initiate a service request procedure by transmitting a service request to the network, to release the NAS signaling connection on the first USIM. However, under the 5GMM/EMM signaling congestion condition with timer T3346 running, the AMF/MME rejects 5GMM/EMM signaling requests from UE. In one novel aspect, the MUSIM UE requests the network to release the NAS signaling connection while timer T3346 is still running. As a result, the MUSIM UE is able to start the more important job on the second USIM, or to improve user experience on the second USIM.

When an application is executed, the upper layer of a UE sends the application information to URSP entity for matching a URSP rule. The UE selects and evaluates a route selection descriptor (RSD) from a list of RSDs of a selected URSP rule to be matched with a PDU session. If there is a “PDU session pair ID type” or “RSN type” route selection descriptor component in an RSD, and there is also “multi-access preference type” descriptor component, or a “preferred access type” descriptor component set to “non-3GPP access” in the same RSD, UE ignores the RSD since it is invalid for a redundant PDU session.

When an application is executed, the upper layer of a UE sends the application information to URSP entity for matching a URSP rule. The UE finds an RSD of the matching URSP rule, and the UE tries to reuse an existing PDU session, e.g., the association of the application with the existing PDU session have certain exceptions.     Abstract: A method of handling (alternative) IMSI value for MUSIM UEs supporting paging timing collision control in an EPS network is proposed. For a MUSIM UE and EPS supporting paging timing collision control, the MUSIM UE and the network can request and negotiate an IMSI offset for the IMSI value on one of the USIM card through a TAU or ATTACH procedure. When lower layer failure occurs, the network may not successfully receive a TRACKING AREA UPDATE COMPLETE (or ATTACH COMPLETE) message from the UE, and therefore the network may not know which IMSI value UE will use. Accordingly, the network needs to use both possible (alternative) IMSI values when deriving paging timing for the UE until one of the (alternative) IMSI values is considered invalid.

    Abstract: A PDU session status information element (IE) is used to bi-directionally synchronize the state of a multi-access (MA) Protocol data unit (PDU) session between UE and NW. In the downlink, the PDU session status IE is included in a 5GMM message sent from NW to UE over an access type, and it indicates the user plane resources are NOT established at NW side on the access type the 5GMM message is sent over. For MA PDU sessions having user plane resources established in the UE side only on the access type the 5GMM message is sent over, the UE performs a local release of those MA PDU sessions. For MA PDU sessions having user plane resources established in the UE side on both access types, the UE performs a local release on the user plane resources on the access type the 5GMM message is sent over.
