  • Patent number: 9263637
Abstract: A light emitting diode (100 or 150) includes a diode structure containing a quantum well (120), an enhancement layer (142), and a barrier layer (144 or 148) between the enhancement layer (142) and the quantum well (120). The enhancement layer (142) supports plasmon oscillations at a frequency that couples to photons produced by combination of electrons and holes in the quantum well (120). The barrier layer serves to block diffusion between the enhancement layer (142) and the diode structure.

  • Patent number: 9251056
Abstract: A method for memory management is provided for a memory including a plurality of pages. The method comprises assigning in-use pages to in-use buckets according to use counts. The in-use buckets include a low in-use bucket for a lowest range of use counts, and a high in-use bucket for a highest range of use counts. The method comprises assigning free pages to free buckets according to use counts. The free buckets include a low free bucket for a lowest range of use counts, and a high free bucket for a highest range of use counts. The method maintains use counts for in-use pages. On a triggering event for a current in-use page, the method determines whether the use count of the current in-use page exceeds a hot swap threshold, and if so moves data in the current in-use page to a lead page in the low free bucket.

  • Publication number: 20160024597
Abstract: Methods for modulating expression of a component of a cell, comprising contacting the cell with a nucleic acid comprising an miR-140 nucleic acid sequence in an amount sufficient to modulate the cellular component are provided. Overexpression of miR-140 inhibits cell proliferation in both U-2 OS (wt-p53) and HCT 116 (wt-p53) cell lines. Cells transfected with miR-140 are more resistant to chemotherapeutic agent methotrexate. mi-140 expression is related to HDAC4 protein expression. The claimed methods reduce the protein expression level of HDAC4 without degrading the target mRNA.

  • Publication number: 20160013684
Abstract: A DC converter includes a non-isolated conversion module and an isolated conversion module. The non-isolated conversion module is implemented based on a redundant structure and has a first power conversion loop, a second power conversion loop, and an energy storage element. The first and second power conversion loops are connected and share the energy storage element. The energy storage element is further connected to an input terminal of the isolated conversion module. The first and second conversion loops of the non-isolated conversion module convert DC power outputted from two battery sets and output the converted power to the isolated conversion module. The isolated conversion module further supplies DC power to a load. Accordingly, power supply systems using the foregoing DC converter can reduce the number of transformer therein and thus size reduction of the power supply system can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20150378849
Abstract: A method for backing up or restoring a virtual machine is provided. The backup method includes creating a virtual machine having a first and a second union file system directory. The first directory read only stores a virtual machine base operating system file. The second directory is readable and writable and stores modifications to the base operating system file, and new files generated during running of the virtual machine. The virtual machine preferentially reads and writes the second directory. When a request to back up the virtual machine is received, the data in the second directory is backed up. The restore method includes preparing a virtual machine for restoring data. When a request to restore the virtual machine is received, the backup data of the second directory is obtained and restored to the second directory of the prepared virtual machine.

  • Patent number: 9223853
Abstract: In various embodiments, systems and methods are provided for query expansion using add-on terms with classifications. A query is received. An add-on term is identified for the query. A classification is determined for the add-on term. The classification is a designation associated with the add-on term that is used to distinguish the add-on term from the query. An appended query is generated based on the add-on term. The appended query is generated by concatenating the query with the add-on term. The appended query is executed on a resource stack as a single reformulated query to identify one or more resources. Upon execution, the classification of the add-on term distinguishes the one or more resources identified for the add-on term based on tagging the one or more resources with the classification of the add-on term. The appended query is used to generate content items.
