    Abstract: A transmitting circuit is disposed in an electronic device, which performs signal transmission with another electronic device through an Ethernet over Coax (EoC) system. The transmitting circuit includes a control circuit, a gain adjusting circuit and an output circuit. The control circuit obtains a tone map from the other electronic device, calculates a signal quality parameter according to the tone map, and determines a gain according to the signal quality parameter. The gain adjusting circuit, coupled to the control circuit, adjusts the strength of a signal according to the gain to generate an adjusted signal. The output circuit, coupled to the gain adjusting circuit, transmits the adjusted signal to the other electronic device.

    Abstract: A method for migrating a virtual machine (VM) includes establishing a first connection to a first cloud computing system executing a first VM, and establishing a second connection to a second cloud computing system managed by a second cloud provider, which is different form the first cloud provider. The method further includes instantiating a second VM designated as a destination VM in the second cloud computing system, and installing a migration agent on each of the first VM and the second VM. The migration agents execute a migration process of the first VM to the second VM by (1) iteratively copying guest data from the first VM to the second VM until a switchover criteria of the migration operation is met, and (2) copying a remainder of guest data from the first VM to the second VM when the switchover criteria is met.

The length of each guide rail is smaller than the length of the sidewall's inner side. The guide rails support at least two protrusions provided at corners at opposite sides of an integrated circuit chip assembly when the assembly is slid into the socket from a side. The guide rails, when the assembly is slid to the end of the guide rail, enable the at least two protrusions to fall into the gaps between the ends of the guide rail and the respective socket end walls to install the assembly in the socket.

    Abstract: A CT scanner and method of operating the CT scanner enables customized automated selection of tube current and peak tube voltage for a CT scan. The CT scanner receives data, each datum of which corresponds to a reference image quality (noise level at a certain tube voltage) for patient water equivalent diameter (“WED”) body size. The CT scanner then stores the noise level and patient WED, and a processor in the CT scanner generates a curve corresponding to acceptable noise levels as a function of water equivalent diameter. The CT scanner stores the curve in a memory associated with the scanner and the CT scanner is subsequently operated with reference to the curve stored in the memory. The tube voltage that can generate the reference CT scan quality (signal-to-noise ratio) with the lowest radiation dose to the patient is selected.
