A packaging and display system and method thereof is disclosed. The packaging and display system includes a container having a base, at least one sidewall, and at least one openable section. An interior volume is positioned interior of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section. At least one bonding element is positioned on an exterior surface of at least one of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section, wherein the at least one bonding element is sized to retain the container in a substantially stationary position to a display surface.

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims benefit of U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 61/532,361 entitled, “Food Packaging Container with Bonding Element” filed on Sep. 8, 2011, the entire disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.

FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE

The present disclosure is generally related to containers and more particularly is related to a packaging and display system and method thereof.

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE

Advertising and promoting items for sale in retail settings is a highly competitive arena. Companies aim to place their products in highly visible locations such that a consumer can easily see the product and purchase it. Many products that are sold on shelves or in refrigerators are harder for consumers to select and eventually purchase because they may tend to blend in with competing products. Although variations for displaying products are available, many drawbacks exist, including problems with convenient removal of the product from the display, and adequate visibility of product labeling information. Additionally, in residential settings, purchased items may be lost within cabinets and cupboards and go unused and unnoticed for long periods of time. This may result in expired items, especially food-based items, which wastes resources and consumers' money.

In work, office or institutional settings, limited space for product storage, and inconsistent product storage conditions limits access to products and may degrade the consumable condition or safety of items, particularly food-based items. Additionally, in certain work or public settings, products that are not easily contained within the package until consumed could be exposed to contamination risks that can limit the safe use of the food product. Furthermore, when providing a single serving of food or single dose of a solid medication that is generally accompanied by a liquid (typically water), a cup is usually required and must be obtained separately.

Thus, a heretofore unaddressed need exists in the industry to address the aforementioned deficiencies and inadequacies.

SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a packaging and display system. Briefly described, in architecture, one embodiment of the system, among others, can be implemented as follows. A container has a base, at least one sidewall, and at least one openable section. An interior volume is positioned interior of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section. At least one bonding element is positioned on an exterior surface of at least one of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section, wherein the at least one bonding element is sized to retain the container in a substantially stationary position to a display surface.

The present disclosure can also be viewed as providing a food packaging and display container apparatus. Briefly described, in architecture, one embodiment of the apparatus, among others, can be implemented as follows. A container has a truncated cone shape, wherein a base of the container is substantially parallel to a cover of the container, and wherein the base is connected to the cover with a sidewall. A seal is positioned between the cover and a rim of the sidewall, wherein the seal is broken upon removal of the cover from the container. An interior volume is positioned interior of the base, cover, and sidewall, wherein a quantity of food product positioned within the interior volume, and wherein the seal separates the interior volume from an atmosphere external to the container. At least a first and a second bonding element are positioned on an exterior surface of the base, wherein the first bonding element has a different bonding material than a bonding material of the second bonding element, and wherein a bonding surface of both the first and second bonding elements are substantially positioned within a single plane, and wherein only one of the first and second bonding elements is used to retain the container in a substantially stationary position to a substantially vertical display surface in a single point in time.

The present disclosure can also be viewed as providing a method of packaging and displaying a quantity of food product. In this regard, one embodiment of such a method, among others, can be broadly summarized by the following steps: providing a container having a base, at least one sidewall, and at least one openable section; placing the quantity of food product within an interior volume positioned interior of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section; sealing the at least one openable section to enclose the interior volume, thereby separating the quantity of food product within the interior volume from an atmosphere external to the container; and securing the container to a display surface with at least one bonding element positioned on an exterior surface of at least one of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section, thereby securing the container in a substantially stationary position on the display surface.

It is intended that all such additional systems, methods, features, and advantages be included within this description, be within the scope of the present disclosure, and be protected by the accompanying claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional illustration of a packaging and display system 10, in accordance with a first exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. The packaging and display system 10, which may be referred to simply as ‘system 10,’ includes a container 20 having a base 22, at least one sidewall 24, and at least one openable section 26. An interior volume 28 is positioned interior of the base 22, the at least one sidewall 24, and the at least one openable section 26. At least one bonding element 40 is positioned on an exterior surface of at least one of the base 22, the at least one sidewall 24, and the at least one openable section 26, wherein the at least one bonding 40 element is sized to retain the container 20 in a substantially stationary position to a display surface.

The system 10 may be used as a disposable container for holding food products and food items, that allows for convenient storage, access, and use to a consumer. For example, the system 10 may be used to store any number of food products with suitable shelf life. In accordance with this disclosure, food products may include any type of edible food item, such as cereals, chips, nuts, pretzels, candies, mints, gum, vitamins, nutritional supplements, powdered beverage mixes and medicines. Commonly, this may include convenience products such as snacks or food sold for on-the-go use, such as at convenience stores, vending machines, grocery stores, cafeterias. The system 10 may be used in any other setting, such as commercial, retail and/or residential settings where users can conveniently store and access food products. In some instances, the system 10 may be used to hold non-food items, such as stain removers and sewing kits.

The system 10 may include any size or shape of the container 20. Commonly, the container 20 may be cylindrical in shape where a single sidewall 24 surrounds an interior volume 28 of the system 10, or have a truncated cone shape where a single sidewall 24 surrounds an interior volume 28 of the system 10. For example, as is shown in FIG. 1, the system 10 includes a sidewall 24 that is connected to a base 22 on one side of the sidewall 24 thereby creating a truncated cone shape (tapered cylindrical shape). Other shapes may also be used, including any variation of cylindrical, triangular, square, rectangular or other shapes. Any of the variations of the shape(s) used with the system 10 may include at least one sidewall 24. This may include a single, integral sidewall 24 or any number of integral or non-integral sidewalls 24 connected together by any number of methods. Similarly, the base 22 may be integral or non-integral with the sidewall 24. For clarity in explanation, FIGS. 1-4 illustrate the system 10 as a truncated cone shape, however all other variations not explicitly discussed herein are considered within the scope of the present disclosure.

The system 10 may be sized depending on the food product that is housed therein. For example, the system 10 may be sized to hold a single serving of a food product, or a plurality of servings. The overall size of the system 10 may be measured by the space of the interior volume 28, the dimensions of the container 20, and/or the weight of the system 10 with food product therein. For example, the system 10 may be sized to hold a single serving of cereal or a single dosage of medicine. The dimension of the container 20 may also be based on a use for the container 20 beyond packaging and displaying a product. For example, when the container 20 is used to hold a quantity of medicine, such as a single tablet or pill, the container 20 may be sized large enough to allow the user of the container 20 to use the container 20 as a drinking cup, such that the user has a vessel to hold a quantity of liquid which may be needed when the user ingests the tablet or pill.

The system 10 may have an openable section 26 to the interior volume 28 of any size. Commonly, the openable section 26 may be positioned opposite the base 22, such that the system 10 can stand on the base 22 and the openable section 26 is easily accessible to a user. The openable section 26 may be considered the top of the container 20 in this configuration. In other configurations, the openable section 26 may be within the sidewall 24 or the base 22. Removably positioned over the openable section 26 may be a cover 30. The cover 30 allows access to the interior volume 28 of the container 20 when a user desires to access the contents therein. Commonly, the cover 30 may be constructed from a material that is different from the sidewall 24 and base 22. For example, the sidewall 24 and base 22 may be constructed from BPA free plastics, whereas the cover 30 may be constructed from a metallic foil or an organic material, such as a coated paper. However, it is noted that the container 20 may be provided such that a cover 30 is not needed, i.e., where the openable section 26 functions as a cover 30. For example, flexible packaging using a single sheet of packaging material, as is discussed further with respect to FIG. 11, may have an openable section 26 without a cover 30.

The system 10 also includes at least one bonding element 40 that is applied to the container 20. The at least one bonding element 40 may be positioned on a number of locations on the container, including on the base 22, on the at least one sidewall 24, on the openable section 26, or on a cover 30, if present. The at least one bonding element 40 may be used to retain the container 20 to a variety of display surfaces, notably a substantially vertical display surface and/or an inverted horizontal display surface. For example, the at least on bonding element 40 may be a magnetic strip that is adhesively applied to the base 22, wherein the magnetic strip can to be contacted with a magnetic retaining surface, i.e., any surface that interacts with magnetic forces, to retain the container 20 to the surface. The at least one bonding material 40 may also include a magnetic material that is coated on, or otherwise infused within one or more portions of the container 20. In another example, the at least one bonding element 40 may be an adhesive element that adhesively retains the container 20 to the display surface. The at least one bonding element may also include any other type of bonding material, such as a hook and loop fastener.

Additionally, it may be common for more than one bonding element 40 to be provided on a single container 20, where all or a portion of the bonding elements 40 are used to retain the container 20 to the display surface, as is discussed further with regards to FIGS. 8-10. Regardless of the type or combination of bonding elements 40, the system 10 may be capable of being retained on a surface with any orientation, including a vertical surface, an angled surface, and on an inverted horizontal surface, i.e., the underside of a surface.

The system 10 may be constructed from any method, including molding lightweight plastics or other plastic or paper-based composite materials. Advertising materials, such as brand graphics and textual material may be included on any part of the system 10. For example, the cover 30 may include origination data about the food product, such as where it was manufactured or when it expires. Including identification information of the food product within the container 20 and positioning the system 10 on a surface that is likely to be easily visible may provide convenient advertising of the food product, appropriate labeling for individual sale such as UPC code, efficient storage of the food product, and easy retrieval of the food product by a consumer in a point-of-sale situation.

FIG. 2 is a plan view illustration of the packaging and display system 10, in accordance with the first exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. As is shown, the container 20 includes a tapered sidewall 24 that forms a truncated cone shape. The cover 30 is applied on one side of the container 20 and the base 22 is integrally affixed to the other side. The cover 30 may be positioned to overlap the sidewall 24 of the container 20, which may allow for convenient removal of the cover 30, as well as ensure that the system 10 is properly sealed. As is shown on the base 22 of the container 20, the bonding element 40 may be applied in a rectangular shape as is shown or any other shape. The bonding element 40 may also be raised from or substantially flush with the surface of the base 22.

FIG. 3 is a bottom view illustration of the packaging and display system 10, in accordance with the first exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. The bottom view illustrates the base 22 of the system 10 with the at least one bonding element 40. The at least one bonding element 40 may include a removable coating 42, which covers the at least one bonding element 40 until it is manually removed. For example, the at least one bonding element 40 may be an adhesive material that is covered with a removable coating 42 such as wax paper or another coated paper. The removable coating 42 may keep the at least one bonding material 40 from drying out or getting dirty. When the user wishes to adhere the system 10 to a surface, the user may remove the removable coating 42 to expose the at least one bonding material 40. The need or type of removable coating 42 may be dependent on the characteristics of the at least one bonding material 40, as some bonding materials 40 may not require a removable coating 42, or may require a different type of removable coating 42 than what is specified in this disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a side view illustration of the packaging and display system 10 retained on a substantially vertical display surface 50, in accordance with the first exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. As is shown, two containers 20 are adhered to the substantially vertical display surface 50 and retained on the substantially vertical display surface 50. The arrow 52 indicates the gravitational force acting on the containers 20, wherein the containers 10 are properly retained on the substantially vertical display surface 50 with the bonding material. The substantially vertical display surface 50 may include the surface of any structure, such as a wall, or an appliance like a refrigerator or a commercial appliance. For example, the system 10 may be used with any metallic or non-metallic surface that may be rigid enough to successfully hold the system 10. This may commonly include the surfaces of refrigerators, stoves, commercial coolers, tables, display cases, lockers, furniture, bulletin boards, automotive structures, or other structures.

FIG. 5 is a side view illustration of packaging and display system 10 retained on a substantially horizontal inverted display surface 54, in accordance with the first exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. As is shown, two containers 20 are adhered to the substantially inverted horizontal display surface 54 and retained on the substantially inverted horizontal display surface 54. The arrow 52 indicates the gravitational force acting on the containers 20, wherein the containers 20 are properly retained on the substantially inverted horizontal display surface 54 with the bonding material. The substantially inverted horizontal display surface 54 may include the underside surface of any structure, such as a ceiling, an appliance, cabinetry, shelving, or other inverted surface. For example, the system 10 may be used with any metallic or non-metallic surface that may be rigid enough to successfully hold the system 10. This may commonly include the surfaces of metallic shelving, wood-based shelving, commercial coolers, display cases, lockers, furniture, automotive structures, or other structures.

FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional illustration of the packaging and display system 10, in accordance with the first exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. The cover 30 may be sufficiently sealed to the sidewall 24 of the container 20 with a removable seal 32 to fully cover the openable section 26 and keep the food product free from contact with air, moisture, or other elements that may be present in an outside atmosphere. As is shown in FIG. 6, the removable seal 32 may be positioned between the cover 30 and the container 20, such that the interior volume 28 of the container 20 is separated from an atmosphere external to the container 20. The removable seal 32 may include a single-use adhesive that allows for only one opening of the cover 30, or it may include an adhesive that provides multiple uses of the cover 30. For example, the cover 30 may be sealed to the sidewall 24 with a heat treatment process which allows only one use of the cover, or a bonded adhesive which allows the cover 30 to be reapplied and resealed multiple times.

FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional illustration of a packaging and display system 110, in accordance with a second exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. The packaging and display system 110, which may be referred to herein as ‘system 110,’ may be substantially similar to the system 10 of the first exemplary embodiment, and may include any of the features and structures discussed with respect to the system 10 of the first exemplary embodiment. As is shown, the system 110 includes a container 120 having a base 122, at least one sidewall 124 and at least one openable section 126. An interior volume 128 is positioned interior of the base 122, the at least one sidewall 124, and the at least one openable section 126. At least one bonding element 140 is positioned on an exterior surface of at least one of the base 122, the at least one sidewall 124, and the at least one openable section 126, wherein the at least one bonding element 140 is sized to retain the container 120 in a substantially stationary position to a display surface.

In comparison to the first exemplary embodiment, the container 110 is configured with the bonding element 140 on the sidewall 124 of the container structure 120, as opposed to the base 122. This may function as described with respect to FIGS. 1-4, but allow for a different orientation of the container structure 120, the opening 126 and the cover 130, which may be desired to display branding or labeling material in a specific direction.

FIG. 8 is a bottom view illustration of the packaging and display system 210, in accordance with a third exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. The packaging and display system 210, which may be referred to herein as ‘system 210,’ may be substantially similar to the system 10 of the first exemplary embodiment, and may include any of the features and structures discussed with respect to any of the embodiments of this disclosure. The system 210 includes a container 220 having a base 222, at least one sidewall 224, and at least one openable section 226 (FIG. 9). An interior volume 228 is positioned interior of the base 222, the at least one sidewall 224, and the at least one openable section 226 (FIG. 9). At least one bonding element 240 is positioned on an exterior surface of at least one of the base 222, the at least one sidewall 224, and the at least one openable section 226 (FIG. 9), wherein the at least a first and a second bonding element 240, 241 are sized to retain the container 220 in a substantially stationary position to a display surface.

As is shown in FIG. 8, the first and second bonding elements 240, 241 are positioned on the container 220. Any additional number of bonding elements may be used in addition to the first and second bonding elements 240, 241. The first and second bonding elements 240, 241 may be formed from the same bonding material, however it may be more common for the first bonding element 240 to be formed from a first bonding material and the second bonding element 241 to be formed from a second bonding material that is different from the first bonding material. In other words, two or more different types of bonding materials may be used with a single container 220. The first and second bonding elements 240, 241 may have an abutting position on the base 222 of the container 220, or any other location of the container 220, such that the base 222 of the container or other location of the container 220 is substantially covered by the first and second bonding elements 240, 241.

FIG. 9 is a side view illustration of packaging and display system 210, in accordance with the third exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. As is shown, the first and second bonding elements 240, 241 may have an abutting position, such that they are positioned relatively close together, if not in contact with one another. Each of the first and second bonding elements 240, 241 may have a bonding surface. In FIG. 9, first bonding element 240 has bonding surface 247 and second bonding element 241 has bonding surface 248. The bonding surfaces 247, 248 may be characterized as the surface of the bonding element that will bond to the display surface. It may be desirable for the bonding surface 247 of the first bonding element 240 and the bonding surface 248 of the second bonding element 241 to be positioned in substantially a single plane, as is shown in FIG. 9. When the bonding surfaces 247, 248 are positioned in substantially a single plane, both bonding surfaces 247, 248 may contact the display surface when the container 220 is affixed to the display surface, even if only one of the first and second bonding elements 240, 241 is actually retaining the container 220 to the display surface.

FIG. 10 is a side view illustration of packaging and display system 210, in accordance with the third exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. In particular, FIG. 10 illustrates the container 220 of FIG. 9 with a removable coating 242 positioned on the second bonding element 241. The second bonding element 241 is an adhesive bonding material, so the removable coating 242 may be necessary to keep the adhesive bonding surface 248 free from debris or air contact. The removable coating 242 may be formed from an extremely thin piece of material, such that the thickness of the removable coating 242 may not greatly hinder the desire for the bonding surfaces 247, 248 to be within a single plane, whether or not a removable coating 242 is employed on one of the bonding elements. Thus, although FIG. 10 may not be drawn to scale, it can be seen that the bonding surface 248 of the second bonding element 241 having the removable coating 242 may be positioned in substantially the same plane as the bonding surface 247 of the first bonding element 240.

In use, the dual bonding elements, the first and second bonding elements 240, 241, may allow for convenience in retaining the container 220 to a display surface. For example, a container 220 may be provided with both a magnetic bonding element and an adhesive bonding element. If the desired display surface is a metallic material, the user may opt to use the magnetic bonding element to retain the container 220. However, if the display surface is non-metallic or non-magnetic reactive, the user may remove the removable container 242 from the adhesive bonding element to expose the bonding surface of the adhesive bonding element, thereby allowing the container 220 to be affixed to the display surface by non-magnetic means. When only one of the magnetic or adhesive bonding elements is used, the other may reside unused on the container 220.

FIG. 11 is a plan view illustration of a packaging and display system 310, in accordance with a fourth exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. The packaging and display system 310, which may be referred to herein as ‘system 310,’ may be substantially similar to the system 10 of the first exemplary embodiment, and may include any of the features and structures discussed with respect to any of the embodiments of this disclosure. The system 310 includes a container having a base 322, at least one sidewall 324, and at least one openable section 326. An interior volume (not shown) is positioned interior of the base 322, the at least one sidewall 324, and the at least one openable section 326. At least one bonding element 340 is positioned on an exterior surface of at least one of the base 322, the at least one sidewall 324, and the at least one openable section 326, wherein the at least one bonding element 340 is sized to retain the container 320 in a substantially stationary position to a display surface.

The system 310 has a flexible packaging design, where the various components of the container 320 are formed from a single piece of container material. For example, as is shown in FIG. 11, the base 322, the at least one sidewall 324, and the at least one openable section 326 are all formed from a single piece of material. To create the container 320 from a single piece of material, the material may be folded or heat sealed, resulting in a self-opening, single or multi-use container 320. Since flexible packaging may be created with only one piece of material, and not various material components, the costs of manufacturing the container 320 may be lower than traditional containers 320. Even when the system 310 includes a container 320 formed from a single piece of material, the general use of the system 310 will remain unaffected, in comparison to a container formed from a non-single piece of material. Namely, the at least one bonding element 340 may be positioned on any portion of the container 320 to retain the container 320 to a display surface.

FIG. 12 is a flowchart 400 illustrating a method of packaging and displaying a quantity of food product, in accordance with a fifth exemplary embodiment of the disclosure. It should be noted that any process descriptions or blocks in flow charts should be understood as representing modules, segments, portions of code, or steps that include one or more instructions for implementing specific logical functions in the process, and alternate implementations are included within the scope of the present disclosure in which functions may be executed out of order from that shown or discussed, including substantially concurrently or in reverse order, depending on the functionality involved, as would be understood by those reasonably skilled in the art of the present disclosure.

As is shown by block 402, a container having a base, at least one sidewall, and at least one openable section is provided. The quantity of food product is placed within an interior volume positioned interior of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section (block 404). The at least one openable section is sealed to enclose the interior volume, thereby separating the quantity of food product within the interior volume from an atmosphere external to the container (block 406). The container is secured to a display surface with at least one bonding element positioned on an exterior surface of at least one of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section, thereby securing the container in a substantially stationary position on the display surface (block 408).

The method may include any additional number of steps, processes, functions, or structures, including any of the steps, processes, functions, or structures disclosed with respect to any embodiment of this disclosure. For example, a first and a second bonding element may both be positioned on the exterior surface of at least one of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section, wherein the first bonding element has a first bonding material and the second bonding element has a second bonding material, wherein the first bonding material is different from the second bonding material. The first and second bonding elements may be positioned in substantially a single plane, where the container is secured to the display surface with only the first bonding element, such that the second bonding element remains in an unbonded position between the display surface and the container. The unbonded position of the second bonding element may include unbonded contact with the display surface. The bonding element or bonding elements will allow the container to be retained in the substantially stationary position on the display surface during a movement of the display surface.

It should be emphasized that the above-described embodiments of the present disclosure, particularly, any “preferred” embodiments, are merely possible examples of implementations, merely set forth for a clear understanding of the principles of the disclosure. Many variations and modifications may be made to the above-described embodiment(s) of the disclosure without departing substantially from the spirit and principles of the disclosure. All such modifications and variations are intended to be included herein within the scope of this disclosure and the present disclosure and protected by the following claims.

Claims

1. A packaging and display system comprising:

a container having a base, at least one sidewall, and at least one openable section;
an interior volume positioned interior of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section; and
at least one bonding element positioned on an exterior surface of at least one of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section, wherein the at least one bonding element is sized to retain the container in a substantially stationary position to a display surface.

2. The packaging and display system of claim 1, wherein the display surface is at least one of a substantially vertical display surface and an inverted horizontal surface.

3. The packaging and display system of claim 1, further comprising a quantity of food product positioned within the interior volume.

4. The packaging and display system of claim 1, wherein the openable section further comprises a cover having a removable seal, wherein the removable seal is positioned between the cover and the container, and wherein the cover and removable seal separates the interior volume from an atmosphere external to the container.

5. The packaging and display system of claim 1, wherein the at least one bonding element further comprises at least one of a magnetic bonding material and an adhesive bonding material.

6. The packaging and display system of claim 5, wherein the at least one bonding element further comprises an adhesive bonding material, wherein a removable coating is positioned on the adhesive bonding material.

7. The packaging and display system of claim 1, wherein the at least one bonding element further comprises a first and a second bonding element, wherein the first bonding element has a first bonding material and the second bonding element has a second bonding material, wherein the first bonding material is different from the second bonding material.

8. The packaging and display system of claim 7, wherein the first and second bonding elements are positioned abutting, wherein a bonding surface of the first bonding element and a bonding surface of the second bonding element are substantially positioned in a single plane.

9. The packaging and display system of claim 8, wherein the first and second bonding elements are in an abutting position on the base of the container, wherein the base of the container is substantially covered by the first and second bonding elements.

10. The packaging and display system of claim 8, wherein the first bonding element is an adhesive bonding material having a removable coating positioned on the bonding surface, wherein an exterior side of the removable coating on the bonding surface of the first bonding element and the bonding surface of the second bonding element are substantially positioned in a single plane.

11. The packaging and display system of claim 1, wherein the at least one bonding element further comprises a hook and loop fastener.

12. The packaging and display system of claim 1, wherein the display surface further comprises a magnetic reactive material.

13. The packaging and display system of claim 1, wherein the at least one bonding element is sized to retain the container in a substantially stationary position to the display surface without contact to any portion of the container except a location of the container where the at least one bonding element contacts the container.

14. The packaging and display system of claim 1, wherein the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section are formed from a single piece of container material.

15. A method of packaging and displaying a quantity of food product comprising the steps of:

providing a container having a base, at least one sidewall, and at least one openable section;
placing the quantity of food product within an interior volume positioned interior of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section;
sealing the at least one openable section to enclose the interior volume, thereby separating the quantity of food product within the interior volume from an atmosphere external to the container; and
securing the container to a display surface with at least one bonding element positioned on an exterior surface of at least one of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section, thereby securing the container in a substantially stationary position on the display surface.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising the step of providing a first and a second bonding element positioned on the exterior surface of at least one of the base, the at least one sidewall, and the at least one openable section, wherein the first bonding element has a first bonding material and the second bonding element has a second bonding material, wherein the first bonding material is different from the second bonding material.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the first and second bonding elements are substantially positioned in a single plane, further comprising the step of securing the container to the display surface with only the first bonding element, wherein the second bonding element remains in an unbonded position between the display surface and the container.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein the second bonding element has unbonded contact with the display surface.

19. The method of claim 15, further comprising the step of retaining the container in the substantially stationary position on the display surface during a movement of the display surface.

20. A food packaging and display container comprising:

a container having a truncated cone shape, wherein a base of the container is substantially parallel to a cover of the container, and wherein the base is connected to the cover with a sidewall;
a seal positioned between the cover and a rim of the sidewall, wherein the seal is broken upon removal of the cover from the container;
an interior volume positioned interior of the base, cover, and sidewall, wherein a quantity of food product positioned within the interior volume, and wherein the seal separates the interior volume from an atmosphere external to the container; and
at least a first and a second bonding element positioned on an exterior surface of the base, wherein the first bonding element has a different bonding material than a bonding material of the second bonding element, and wherein a bonding surface of both the first and second bonding elements are substantially positioned within a single plane, and wherein only one of the first and second bonding elements is used to retain the container in a substantially stationary position to a substantially vertical display surface in a single point in time.
