Abstract: A semicrystalline copolyester resin composition formed by twin screw extrusion of various ingredients includes copolyester resins, antiblock, slip and antifog additives. This semicrystalline copolyester resin can be extruded on to PET film or coextruded with PET resin to form clear PET films with antifog properties. These films with antifog properties are produced in a single step without the use of solvent and does not involve any secondary step for coating a separate antifog layer. This minimizes the cost and time required by a converter to make such clear antifog films. These films containing the heat seal copolyester resin can be heat sealed to clear APET trays. Contents within the trays, such as food, can be seen without fogging on the inside of the film that is used to seal the tray. The seals are strong and the peels are smooth giving a very good packaging performance.
Abstract: A sustainable sealed package includes a biofoam molded tray and a paperboard substrate. The biofoam molded tray includes a circumferential flange defining an opening to an interior cavity of the biofoam molded tray. In addition, the invention provides methods of making pseudo-loaf food compositions and also provides blended food compositions comprising one or more pseudo-loaf compositions and one or more comestible ingredients compatible with the pseudo-loaf food compositions.

Abstract: A substantially oil- and fat-free single phase, homogenous antioxidant formulation that is readily dispersible in lipid matrices at ambient temperature by gentle stirring. The formulation includes a phenolic antioxidant compound, a liquid carrier, preferably a metal chelator, an emulsifier, and a polarity modifier. In preferred embodiment, a combination of lipid-soluble and water-soluble antioxidant compounds is included to provide an improved antioxidant effect.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system, method and capsule for preparing a predetermined quantity of beverage suitable for consumption using an extractable product. The system comprises an exchangeable capsule, and an apparatus comprising a receptacle for holding the exchangeable capsule, and a fluid dispensing device for supplying a fluid to the exchangeable capsule. Abstract: In an assembly of a balloon mounted on a catheter and a stent mounted over the deflated balloon, the balloon is provided with a fugitive plasticizer before the stent is crimped over the balloon. The fugitive plasticizer can soften the balloon surface so that molding of the balloon surface to conform to the crimped stent occurs. The fugitive plasticizer is removed before the assembly is used.

Abstract: A non-cytotoxic polyether polyurethane elastomer is made by reacting a polyether triol, polyether diol, and polyether prepolymer terminated with toluene diisocyanate. The reaction is catalyzed with a zinc based catalyst, such as zinc neodecanoate. Silicone oil is also added to the reactants. The polyurethane elastomer is a solid, soft elastomer having a hardness of from 15 Shore 00 to 50 Shore A. The elastomer is particularly suited for use as padding in sleeves, splints and braces where it is in contact with human skin.

Abstract: A smokeless tobacco system includes a container including a plurality of preformed smokeless tobacco products configured to generally retain their shape and integrity. One or more of the preformed smokeless tobacco products are compressed between a lid and a base of the container to hinder movement of the one or more preformed smokeless tobacco products within the container. Each preformed smokeless tobacco product can include a moist smokeless tobacco in combination with a selected binder such that the final product is configured to have material properties providing improved handling, an improved mouth feel, and a satisfying flavor profile. A method of forming and packaging the preformed smokeless tobacco products includes depositing shaped smokeless tobacco bodies into the container and closing the container prior to a relaxation of the shaped smokeless tobacco bodies into preformed smokeless tobacco products.

Abstract: A food container (2) includes a rigid thermoformed plastics carton (4) which holds a dry food 6 and is closed by a removable film closure (8). The film (8) incorporates a hydride which is arranged to generate hydrogen on contact with moisture. Additionally, the film (8) is arranged to have relatively high water vapour permeability and relatively low hydrogen gas permeability. In use, water vapour from air surrounding the container (2) passes into the film (8) and reacts with the hydride to generate hydrogen. Due to the relatively low hydrogen permeability of the film (8), the hydrogen is restricted from escaping from the container. Instead, the hydrogen then reacts with any oxygen within the container in a reaction catalysed by a catalyst also associated with the film closure (8), thereby to scavenge oxygen within the container (2) and protect the food (6) from oxidation.
