Patent number: 4187416Abstract: A coaxial switch capable of operating in a vacuum with high RF power in the 1.2 GHz range without "multipactor" breakdown, and without relying on pressurization with an inert gas, which requires a hermetic seal, is achieved by completely surrounding the RF carrying conductors of the switch with a high grade solid dielectric, thus eliminating any gaps in which electrons can accelerate.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1978Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationInventor: Edward R. Patent number: 4187417Abstract: A printed circuit contact of the type for attachment to a control device such as a rotary switch and a method for forming the printed circuit contact, the printed circuit contact comprising an elongated rigid tail resistant to bending and an integrally connected spring clip comprised of a pair of resilient jaws, the jaws being formed from material having a thickness less than the thickness of the tail and wherein the jaws and the tail are formed from a single piece of material. The method of forming the printed circuit contact includes milling a longitudinal groove in one surface of a strip of sheet stock so that a portion of the sheet stock is substantially thinner than the remainder. The sheet stock is then stamped and subjected to bending operations such that the thinner milled portion of the sheet stock is employed to form the jaws of the clip and the thicker portion of the stock forms the tail.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1978Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Assignee: Globe-Union Inc.Inventors: Joseph J. Patent number: 4187418Abstract: An integrated combination pedestrian sign and push button is provided for use particularly with respect to the mounting of pedestrian actuated switches for controlling traffic lights. A saddle is formed with a semi-cylindrical, longitudinally extending, concave rear face conforming to the contour of a cylindrical post to which the unit is normally mounted and a front face formed with raised letters presenting pedestrian information. The upper and lower ends of the saddle are formed wtih arcuate grooves on the front face thereof for engagement by metal banding straps employed to secure the saddle to an appropriate post. A manually operated push button switch for pedestrians is mounted to the lower front face of the saddle for connection with traffic signal control circuits.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1978Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Inventor: Richard C. Patent number: 4187419Abstract: An electrical switch including a fixed contact, a movable contact and means for moving the movable contact into and out of engagement with the fixed contact. A first legend indicative of one of the operative states of the switch is carried by a fixed part of the switch and a second legend indicative of the other operative state of the switch is carried by a part movable relative to the fixed part. The movable part is movable between a position wherein the first legend is revealed and the second legend is obscured and a position wherein the movable part obscures the first legend and the second legend is revealed. A resilient arrangement moves the movable part to one of the positions and there is provided a releasable latch arrangement for retaining the movable part in the other of the positions against the action of the resilient means.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1978Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Assignee: Lucas Industries LimitedInventor: John Warren

Patent number: 4187420Abstract: A latching attachment for rocker switches is disclosed which is manually shiftable to selectively allow depression of only one or the other end of the rocker button. The attachment includes an elongated slider member disposed alongside the rocker button and slidable transversely of the pivotal axis. At the distal ends of the attachment there are extended lower interference ear portions which, upon shifting of the attachment, alternately protrude below, and into the path of motion of, a respective end of the rocker button to prevent depression thereof.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1978Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventor: Earl T. Patent number: 4187421Abstract: A relay for electromagnetic radiation occurring in the optical portion of the electromagnetic spectrum has a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver senses a propagated beam of electromagnetic radiation providing a signal corresponding thereto which is shaped in an electrical circuit and provided as an excitation signal to the transmitter. An audio alignment feature is included providing audio indications for alignment of the receiver with the beam of electromagnetic radiation which is to be relayed. The transmitter is directionally adjustable to provide a relayed beam of electromagnetic radiation in a direction different from the received beam. The method includes aligning the receiver with the beam of electromagnetic radiation and converting the received electromagnetic radiation beam to a corresponding electrical signal in the receiver.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1977Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Assignee: Scientific Technology Inc.Inventors: Paul F.
