Abstract: A grommet has a plurality of inner projecting strip portions and a plurality of outer projecting strip portions on inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the tapered portion, respectively. The plurality of inner and outer projecting strip portions respectively extend in an axial direction of the tapered portion and are spaced from each other in a circumferential direction. The outer projecting strip portions are located opposing to the inner projecting strip portions. A projection amount of the outer projecting strip portions is changed at a contact point. At the contact point, when the grommet is inserted into a through hole, the grommet first contacts an inner peripheral surface of the through hole. The projection amount between the contact point and a large diameter side end of the projecting strip portions is smaller than a second projection amount between the contact point and a small diameter side end.

  • Publication number: 20020036100
Abstract: A microbeam interconnection method is provided to connect integrated circuit bond pads to substrate contacts. Conductive leads (microbeams) are releasably formed, by a process such as electroplating or vacuum deposition, over a release layer deposited on a ceramic, glass or similar carrier. The microbeam material adheres only very weakly to the release layer. After the inner ends of the microbeams have been bonded to IC bond pads, such as by flip chip bump bonding, and the integrated circuit has been fully tested, the IC is lifted away from the carrier, causing the microbeams to peel away from the release layer. After straightening the microbeams against a flat surface, the outer ends of the microbeams may then be bonded to contacts on an MCM or other substrate. The method permits full electrical testing at speed and high speed bonding. The method significantly reduces mechanical stresses in interconnect bonds and thereby improves integrated circuit reliability.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for executing a plasma-based sputtering method, such as for example a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) method. In a process chamber (1), a plasma (2) is produced in order to accelerate ionized particles, carried away from a sputter target (21), through the plasma (2) towards a substrate (3), using an electrical field. In the process chamber (1), between the plasma (2) and the substrate (3) a magnetic field component (6) is produced that is situated parallel to a substrate surface (5). Through the magnetic field component (6), the angular distribution of the ionized particles is deflected from its flight path perpendicular to the substrate surface, so that impact angles are produced that have a greater angular scattering.

Abstract: A sputter source has at least two electrically mutually isolated stationar bar-shaped target arrangements mounted one alongside the other and separated by respective slits. Each of the target arrangements includes a respective electric pad so that each target arrangement may be operated electrically independently from the other target arrangement. Each target arrangement also has a controlled magnet arrangement for generating a time-varying magnetron field upon the respective target arrangement. The magnet arrangements may be controlled independently from each others. The source further has an anode arrangement with anodes alongside and between the target arrangements and/or along smaller sides of the target arrangements.

Abstract: A manufacturing method and apparatus of strongly alkaline ionized water exceeding pH 12.0 by electrolysis of water. As an electrolysis solution supplied to a cathode cell of an electrolytic bath, alkaline ionized water produced in the cathode cell is used, and an operation, in which the alkaline ionized water produced in the cathode cell is circulated and supplied to the cathode cell and is subjected to application of electrolytic voltage, is repeated, so that a cation is accumulated to increase the pH value. As a method for circulating and supplying the alkaline ionized water produced in the cathode cell to the cathode cell, a circulation container bath is used, and the circulation container bath and the cathode cell of the electrolytic bath are connected via a circulating line containing a circulating pump. The circulation container bath has a withdrawing system containing a water collecting device for withdrawing alkaline ionized water having a desired pH value to the outside.

Abstract: In a method for controlling sample introduction in microcolumn separation techniques, more particularly in capillary electrophoresis (CE), where a sample is injected as a sample plug into a sampling device which comprises at least a channel for the electrolyte buffer and a supply and drain channel for the sample. The supply and drain channels discharge into the electolyte channel at respective supply and drain ports. The distance between the supply port and the drain port geometrically defines a sample volume. The injection of the sample plug into the electrolyte channel is accomplished electrokinetically by applying an electric field across the supply and drain channels for a time at least long enough that the sample component having the lowest electrophoretic mobility is contained within the geometrically defined volume. The supply and drain channels each are inclined to the electrolyte channel. Means are provided for electrokinetically injecting the sample into the sample volume.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for discriminating matter utilizing dielectrophoresis combined with magnetophoresis. A sample having one or more constituents is injected into an inlet port of a chamber. A carrier medium flow is initiated at the inlet port to establish a flow within the chamber. A dielectrophoretic force is generated to act on the constituents of the sample. A magnetophoretic force is generated to act on the constituents of the sample. The dielectrophoretic force and magnetophoretic forces are balanced to position the constituents within the chamber. The constituents are then collected at one or more outlet ports of the chamber according to the dielectric and magnetic characteristics of the constituents. The constituents may be collected as a function of time-of-exit from the chamber and/or position within the chamber.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods for cell isolation and analysis. Cells are introduced into a dielectrophoretic prefilter including one or more trapping electrodes configured to trap at least a portion of the cells with a dielectrophoretic force. The cells trapped from the prefilter are directed into a dielectrophoretic field-flow fractionation separator coupled to the prefilter. The cells are discriminated by balancing a dielectrophoretic force (and optionally a magnetophoretic force) with a gravitational force to displace the cells to positions within a velocity profile in the separator. At least a portion of the cells are trapped as a function of the cells' time of emergence from the separator with two or more spiral electrode segments coupled to the separator.
