Abstract: A steel material and a steel pipe made by using the same are provided which are to be used in severe oil well environments. Such a highly tough oil well steel pipe can be produced by rolling the base material, quenching the rolling product from the austenite region and tempering the same so that the relationship between the content of Mo [Mo] in the carbides precipitated at austenite grain boundaries and the austenite grain size (according to ASTM E 112) can be defined by the formula (a) given below. In this manner, steel pipes suited for use even under oil well environments becoming more and more severe can be produced while satisfying the requirements that the cost should be rationalized, the productivity improved and energy saved.

Abstract: A method for the dimensionally accurate application of an elastoplastic spacer strip onto a glass pane intended for producing an insulating glass unit is that the spacer strip is not withdrawn from the storage drum but instead it is unwound in a manner free from any tensile stress and that the same is kept free from tensile and shearing stresses on the further route up to the pressing onto the glass pane, this being despite the fact that the application speed will inevitably fluctuate several times between zero, and a maximum value while edges of the glass pane are covered mechanically. The apparatus for performing the method therefore comprises a compensating or tailback section (3) between a first adjustably driven pair of rollers (1) and a second adjustably driven pair of rollers (9) as well as a sensor for recognizing the position of the strip in the compensating section.

The high-frequency current detector outputs the detected high-frequency current to a computer. The computer compares the high-frequency current received from the high-frequency current detector with a reference high-frequency current. When the received high-frequency current matches the reference high-frequency current, the computer determines that the process performance is normal. Otherwise, the computer determines that the process performance is abnormal. Abstract: A method and apparatus for seating the bead of a tubeless tire onto a rim of a wheel. Also included is a cartridge and a bead seater kit. The bead seater apparatus includes a barrel with a nozzle. The apparatus is further provided with a tab which is associated with the barrel. The tab forms part of a rim safety mechanism, which places the apparatus in a ready to fire position when the tab is pressed against the rim of a tire thus placing the nozzle in the proper orientation between the rim of the wheel and the bead of the tire. With the safety released, the trigger is free to be pulled, which causes a firing pin to hit the primer of the cartridge chambered in the firing chamber of the apparatus. The propellant is then ignited wherein the resulting gas is substantially instantaneously released through the barrel and out of the nozzle between the rim and the tire.

Abstract: A security bar assembly has a plurality of bars that extend across an opening and have ends joined to drive chains. The bars may extend between two channels positioned on opposite faces of the opening, and may be slidable within the channels. The ends of the bars may be retained in the channels and the ends may have connections to chain links in opposing drive chains which are spaced apart a predetermined number of links to keep the bars a predetermined distance apart. A drive mechanism may be provided for moving the drive chains to slide the bars in the channels and a storage area adjacent the opening associated with the channels to retain the bars when they are not in place over the opening. Transfer mechanisms are provided for moving the security bars between a stored position and a position in which the bars engage the bar drive chain.

Abstract: A blind system includes a first blind vane having an edge portion and a second blind vane having an edge portion. The system includes a cover that forms a unshaped fold that extends between the first vane and the second vane. A first reattachable fastener detachably couples the cover to the first vane at the edge portion of the first vane. The first fastener is constructed and arranged to allow the cover to be detached and reattached to the first vane. A second reattachable fastener detachably couples the cover to the second vane at the edge portion of the second vane. The second fastener is constructed and arranged to allow the cover to be detached and reattached to the second vane.

Abstract: A hurricane resistant window/screen system comprises a structural frame sized to fit substantially within a building window frame, at least one window pane received by the structural frame, at least one screen corresponding to each window pane located at a predetermined distance from the pane, and a retainer and locking means that, in combination, secure the screen to the frame, wherein each screen has a tensile strength that, in combination with the predetermined distance, is sufficient to substantially slow or stop a wooden object that strikes the screen at a speed of approximately 50 feet per second, and is also sufficient to prevent shattering of its corresponding pane when the combination is installed.

Abstract: The invention includes apparatus for controlling the lift and tilt of a horizontal window blind. A tilting drum, conic cord-gathering shaft, torsion spring and support cradle may be combined to provide lift and tilt adjustment with a single rotational control. An angular surface near one end of the cord-gathering shaft deflects winding coils of a lifting cord down the length of the cone. The torsion spring and spring stops in the device allow tilt adjustment to take place in conjunction with the rotation of the cord-gathering shaft. The preferred embodiment includes a cord cover to guide the coils as the diameter of the cord-gathering shaft decreases.

Abstract: A tape drum for venetian type blinds has a pair of spaced apart generally elliptical ends with each end having a hole sized and positioned to receive a tilt axle. A front wall and a rear wall extend between the spaced apart ends. A rib is attached to the front wall and to the inside surfaces of the spaced apart ends. A second rib is attached to the rear wall and the inside surfaces of the spaced apart ends, the second rib being spaced apart from the first rib and defining a gap between the first rib and the second rib. A mounting is attached to each rib that is sized and configured so that a rail of a cord ladder can be attached to it. Two pairs of collinear spaced apart rods are attached to the inside surfaces of the spaced apart ends to provide a mounting for the rails of a tape type ladder. The generally elliptical shape of the tape drum causes the rails of the ladder to move together when the tilt axle is turned from an open position to a closed position.

Abstract: The present invention is a door drop stop system designed to require a minimal amount of time and modification to install in an existing door system. It is effective with all overhead doors which employ a central axle; such overhead doors are in widespread use in residential, commercial, and vehicular applications. In addition, other configurations of the door drop stop system are effective with slab doors, bifold doors, and rollup doors. The present invention will reduce or eliminate property damage and personal injury resulting from a failure of a component of the door or its counterbalance system.

Abstract: A cable tensioner for an industrial door helps keep a cable neatly wrapped on its take-up drum. In some embodiments, the tensioner functions in a first mode during normal door operation, and operates in a second mode when the tension in the cable decreases to a predetermined low level. When operating in the second mode, the tensioner is able to take up slack in a cable that supports a door member, such as a door panel or a deadweight that counteracts the door panel's weight. The tensioner includes a shock absorber that resists a reaction force pulling on the tensioner when the tensioner is in the second mode. The tensioner may be adapted for use on various doors including, but not limited to, sectional doors, roll-up doors, high-lift doors, horizontally storing doors, vertically storing doors, and various combinations thereof.

Abstract: Disclosed is a healing enhancement apparatus formed from a hospital bed cubicle curtain bearing a patient calming image such as an outdoor scene or other image of nature. The healing enhancement apparatus, an alternative to the sterile environment found in most hospitals, has therapeutic benefits. In particular, the patient calming scene, occupying all or most of the cubicle curtain assists in calming the patient, reducing blood pressure, reducing required medications, and assists in quicker recoveries. The image is preferably applied to first and second panels of cloth that are stitched together, in registration, at a seam. The image may extend from edge-to-edge, or may occupy a framed portion of the curtain.
