Abstract: Apparatus and method for controlling current input to an electrical resistance element such as a seal blade. A heating sensing element such as a thermocouple monitors the temperature of a component of the sealing jaw, such as a conductive mounting member supporting the seal element. In the flexible wired circuit board for temperature measurement, a conductor layer formed from a metal foil, such as a stainless foil, having a proportional relation between temperature and specific electric resistance is formed on a base insulating layer. Also, a single thin sensor wiring in a sensor portion exposed from a cover insulating layer is formed into a certain pattern by folding back the sensor wiring in a continuous S-shaped form, such that adjacent parts of the wiring extending in parallel are spaced apart from each other at a predetermined interval in a widthwise direction of the conductor layer.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed to aid a transceiver chip, in a serial data communications system, in recovering from a system-side, out-bound data clocking problem. If a problem with a primary clock signal, used to clock data from a system-side of a transceiver chip through at least a part of an out-bound data path of the transceiver chip, is detected, then a more reliable secondary clock signal is substituted for the primary clock signal. Once it is determined that the primary clock signal has recovered, the primary clock signal is switched back to and certain discrete circuits of the out-bound data path of the transceiver chip are automatically reset in hardware without the need for system level intervention to avoid any problems due to clock glitches on the primary clock signal during the switching.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product is disclosed for determining the optimal power of the downstream data signal transmitted by a digital server and designing a constellation based on this determination. Digital and analog loss is compensated for by calculating the constellation power, taking into consideration the client modem ADC's dynamic range, the total loss across the network (both digital and analog losses), and the constrained maximum power of the digital network, so that the power of the transmitted signal at the input of the decoder's (client modem's) ADC is less than but as close as possible, and preferably equal to, the ADC's maximum average power, PADC. The total loss LT across the entire network is determined from the handshake information exchanged during the modem start-up sequence. Using this information and the known dynamic range of the client modem's ADC, the power of the downstream data signal can be optimized.

The voltage dividers each include first and second junctions, respectively, coupled to the first and second AC-coupled capacitors, respectively. The differential amplifier has first and second inputs coupled to the first and second junctions, respectively, and an output providing an output clock signal that is aligned with an input clock signal provided through the AC-coupled capacitors. The multiple mode clock receiver is a single circuit that aligns the output clock signal to any one of multiple forms of input clock signals, including a sole single-ended clock signal, a single-ended clock signal with a corresponding reference signal, and a differential clock signal.

Abstract: A complementary code decoder technique is provided where the encoded input data is first parallelized. From the parallelized data, correlation values are generated by a correlator circuit that is capable of changing its correlation characteristics depending on at least one control signal. Different control signals are sequentially provided to the correlator circuit thereby driving the correlator circuit to sequentially generate multiple correlation values from the parallelized data, based on different correlation characteristics. From the multiple correlation values, the correlation value that represents the optimum correlation is identified. This technique significantly reduces the gate count of the decoder structure, thus saving chip area and manufacturing costs.

Abstract: A method to provide cross-talk cancellation in a multiple input multiple output system that comprises a plurality of outputs is described. The method comprises a step determining during a first phase and according to a heuristic model, for a first signal to be transmitted to a first output of the plurality of outputs at least one dominant interfering tone of at least one second signal to be transmitted to a second output of the plurality of outputs. The at least one dominant interfering tone is in fact a tone of at least one second signal that would generate cross-talk upon the first signal when it would be transmitted to the first output. The method further comprises a step of executing a step of partial cross-talk cancellation for the first signal during a second phase for the one or more determined dominant interfering tones associated to one or another second signal.

Abstract: A mobile communication system is designed with an input circuit coupled to receive a first plurality of signals (rj(i+&tgr;j), i=0−N−1) during a first time (T0-T1) from an external source and coupled to receive a second plurality of signals (rj(i+&tgr;j), i=N−2N−1) during a second time (T1-T2) from the external source. The input circuit receives each of the first and second plurality of signals along respective first and second paths (j). The input circuit produces a first input signal (Rj1) and a second input signal (Rj2) from the respective first and second plurality of signals. A correction circuit is coupled to receive a first estimate signal (&agr;j1), a second estimate signal (&agr;j2) and the first and second input signals. The correction circuit produces a first symbol estimate ({tilde over (S)}1) in response to the first and second estimate signals and the first and second input signals.

Abstract: A bit timing signal is regenerated from an encoded digital signal in a receiver using a predetermined sample rate Fs. An input pulse signal is generated in response to predetermined transitions of the encoded digital signal. A clock count signal is generated having a variable clock period according to cyclical counting of the clock count signal up to a count value S at the predetermined sample rate, the count value alternating between an upper value Su and a lower value Sl so that the variable clock period has an average length substantially equal to a data bit period of the encoded digital signal. The clock count signal is synchronized with the encoded digital signal by 1) counting the input pulse signals to generate a pulse count, 2) counting sampling periods between successive input pulse signals to generate a sample count, and 3) generating a sync signal if the pulse count is greater than a pulse threshold and the sample count is greater than a sample threshold.

Abstract: An X-ray CT system is equipped with a gantry, couch and control cabinet and configured to scan a cone-beam X-ray toward an object along a given orbit to acquire cone-beam data in which a three-dimensional distribution of an X-ray absorption coefficient within the object is reflected. The control cabinet decides a degree of reliability for the cone-beam data according to an acquisition time of the cone-beam data, and then decides a weight for three-dimensional Radon data from the cone-beam data on the basis of the degree of reliability. Using this weight, the control cabinet reconstructs the three-dimensional Radon data based on a three-dimensional reconstruction algorithm. Thus, when the three-dimensional reconstruction algorithm for cone-beam CT is applied to medical CT, artifacts attributable to object's motion can be suppressed and temporal resolution can be improved.
