An implementation has an open bin with side walls having top edges and a moveable shelf to receive a pile of goods. A light source and a light receiver are positioned on the top edges of opposing walls of the bin, and the light source generates light to be received by the light receiver. When the pile of goods is reduced so that the pile no longer obstructs the light from being received by the light receiver a signal indicates a need to raise the general level of the remaining pile contained in the bin. A controller receives the signal and controls operation of a motor to raise the height of the shelf until the remaining pile of the shelf again blocks the light, or the shelf is at a position of maximum height.

The baffle is attached to the rear wall of an economizer outlet flue back pass and is placed just below the economizer gas outlet. The baffle is designed to be uniquely shaped in three dimensions to redirect the large popcorn ash particles towards the deepest parts of the hoppers, which increases the fraction of the ash particles that are captured in the hoppers and decreases the potential for plugging in downstream equipment. The baffle is comprised of several triangular plates, usually three plates for every hopper. Each group of three plates is placed such that they appear to be three sides of an inverted pyramid. The open, fourth side of each of these pyramid shapes is on the side of the baffle closest to the front wall.

Abstract: High pressure synthesis of various crystals such as diamond, cBN and the like can be carried out using reaction assemblies suitable for use in methods such as temperature gradient methods. The reaction assembly can be oriented substantially perpendicular to gravity during application of high pressure. Orienting the reaction assembly in this manner can avoid detrimental effects of gravity on the molten catalyst, e.g., convection, hence increasing available volumes for growing high quality crystals. Multiple reaction assemblies can be oriented in series or parallel, each reaction assembly having one or more growth cells suitable for growth of high quality crystals. Additionally, various high pressure apparatuses can be used. A split die design allows for particularly effective results and control of temperature and growth conditions for individual crystals.

Abstract: A drinking trough having a drinking valve assigned to a water-supply line, the drinking valve having a valve pin that moves in order to discharge water; a water-collecting bowl assigned to the respective drinking valve; an actuating means or elongated actuating end of the valve pin extending from the valve pin to a water-accommodating hollow of the water-collecting bowl, the actuating means being movable between an actuated position to an unactuated position; and a starter body assigned to the respective water-collecting bowl, in which the starter body actuates the actuating means by moving the actuating means to the actuated position when water in the water-collecting bowl reaches a certain lower level, whereby the moving of the actuating means to the actuated position actuates the valve pin so as to allow water to flow from the drinking valve into the water-collecting bowl, and when the water in the water-collecting bowl reaches a certain higher level, the actuating means moves to the unactuated position, w

Abstract: An article for grooming an animal includes a housing that has an outer gripping surface and a longitudinally extending grooming tool that is at least partially mounted within the housing for longitudinal sliding movement with respect to the housing. The longitudinally extending grooming tool, which in the preferred embodiment is a comb, may thus be adjusted to a desired position with respect to be gripping surface to make grooming the animal as convenient as possible. In a first position, the article is configured as a standard comb wherein the gripping surface is substantially centered with respect to the tines of the comb. In a second position, the tines of the comb are extended remotely away from the gripping surface, giving a user the advantage of leverage when using the comb.

Abstract: A styptic powder applicator and file for use with pets. The applicator is designed to be integrated with the container and have a funnel-like shape in order to handle a styptic powder in an easier fashion. The container further has a file attached to a side of the container for the removal of burrs left after clipping a pet's nails. This invention provides a more efficient structure for grooming a pet by incorporating a file for removing burrs with the styptic applicator for staunching the flow of blood from a “quicked” nail.

Abstract: The present invention provides a high voltage pulse generator used for deterring animals where the high voltage pulses are delivered to the animal through an electrical conductor that lays directly on the ground and is not insulated from the underlying ground system. The invention's high voltage pulse generator has a predetermined output impedance that is significantly lower than the impedance of an animal that may contact either the device's output or a conductor laying on the ground that is connected to the devices output. The invention's high voltage pulse generator also has a predetermined output impedance that is lower than the impedance of the conductor in contact with the underlying ground system. This significantly low output impedance allows the device to deliver maximum output energy to the conductor in contact with the underlying ground system while maintaining high voltage and adequate energy levels to deliver an effective shock for deterring animals.

Abstract: An oil cooling system to provide enhanced thermal control for internal combustion engines wherein the oil cooling system of the present invention works in conjunction with the standard oil lubrication circuit and typical liquid coolant system of an engine to maintain the engine temperature in a constant range even when operated in an environment with extreme thermal conditions for a prolonged period of time. The present invention detects when the oil temperature has exceeded a pre-determined range and sends the oil to a radiator with heat sinks and a fan for extracting the heat therefrom and dissipating it before recycling it back to the oil sump where it serves to lubricate and cool the heat-generating components it comes in contact with.

There is also an actuator coupled to the one-way valve for biasing the one-way valve in a closed position. During operation, the one-way air intake valve is opened via an air induction force created by operation of an internal combustion engine positioned downstream from the actuator. This one-way air intake valve is closed after the internal combustion engine has stopped operating to prevent emissions of evaporated hydrocarbons from the engine through the air induction system. The valve can also be moved into a fail-safe position if the actuator fails but the engine is operating.
