Abstract: The present invention provides the illusion that an elastic apparatus is hooked from within a base unit, wherein actually hooking the elastic apparatus is virtually impossible. An opposite end of a rod is inserted at least partway into a hole of a base unit using the handle end of the rod. The base unit gives the appearance that the elastic device is attached to and extending within the hole thereof. The inserted opposite end of the rod is then pulled partially out of the base unit. But before the opposite end of the rod is exposed in viewable sight, two of a user's fingers are pressed together on substantially opposing sides of the handle end in order to forcibly snap the rod back into the base unit giving the illusion that the rod slipped from the user's fingers due to an opposing force from the elastic apparatus.

Abstract: A water treatment apparatus has a two components with surfaces that face each other wherein one surface has an annular groove therein. A sealing ring is provided for placement in the annular groove to form a water tight seal between the two components. The sealing ring has an annular body with an inner perimeter and an outer perimeter. One or more fins project away from either the inner perimeter or the outer perimeter for engaging a wall of the annular groove and spacing the respective inner perimeter or outer perimeter away from the wall. During assembly of the water treatment apparatus, the fins and not the entire inner perimeter or an outer perimeter engage the groove wall thereby enabling the sealing ring to be easily pressed into the groove which facilitates the assembly.

  • Publication number: 20070001423
Abstract: This invention provides a stabilizing system and method for two-wheeled vehicles (typically small, human-powered bicycles) that affords the rider no restriction on the full range of movements (banks, leans, etc.) common to bicycles, but that provides greater stability during turns and other maneuvers so that an unintentional bank or tilt (potentially causing a fall) is less likely, even at relatively slow speeds and startup. A rotating mass of predetermined mass-value and radial mass-distribution is provided coaxially with the front axle. The mass is supported on bearings so as to freewheel with respect to the rotation of the front wheel. As such it can be induced to spin significantly faster than the front wheel thereby generating a gyroscopic effect at the front wheel about the axle. This gyroscopic effect influences the steering of the wheel by the rider. Due to precession, the wheel tends to follow any excessive bank by the bicycle, ensuring that the rider can “steer-out-of” an unintended tilt or bank.

Abstract: The disclosed seat belt retractor and seat belt device improve the reliability of a belt withdrawn amount sensing unit for detecting the withdrawn amount of a belt with a high accuracy. The seat belt retract may comprise a spool for withdrawably retracting a seat belt and a rotation angle detecting unit for detecting a rotation angle of the spool. The rotation angle detecting unit can be a belt withdrawn amount sensing unit for detecting a predetermined rotation angle of the spool in a belt withdrawn direction. The belt withdrawn amount sensing unit can comprise a Hall switch which includes a magnet for moving according to a predetermined rotation amount of the spool in the seat belt withdrawn direction of the spool and a Hall element which is controlled to be turned on or off by the magnet.

Abstract: A cover assembly for a seat belt guide loop is disclosed having a first, outer cover portion connected by an elongate, thin connector member such as a tether with a second, inner cover portion. The outer cover portion is mounted to the vehicle via a bolt that pivotally mounts and anchors the guide loop. The head of the bolt is left exposed for a torque test or the like; and, then the tethered inner cover is assembled to the outer cover by a snap fit of one to the other. In one form, the tether may be integrally attached to one of the cover members and manually connected by an enlarged free end to the other cover member to tether the cover members together. The tether is hidden from view within the assembly cover portions after cover assembly. In another form, the tether may be a discrete part that is later connected to each of the respective cover portions.

Abstract: A device for repairing automobile, and other vehicle, exhaust pipes that have been broken. The device comprises three major components, four sections of angle steel, four U-bolts, and two thread bolts. The angle steel sections form a trough and a cap. In use, the broken exhaust pipe lies inside the trough formed by the first two sections of angle steel and snugly nestles into the angle. The U-Bolts hold the angle steel in place and each angle steel section can move along the thread bolts. The U-Bolt is tightened where the break in the exhaust pipe exists. The U-Bolt may also be loosened to allow the two exhaust pipe pieces to be pulled apart. The device allows for a clean repair of an exhaust pipe without the need for tape, hangers, welding, or other temporary and/or inefficient measures.

Abstract: A disposable sanitary gauge tee with no dead zone for use in pressure measurement of fluid in disposable tubing including a body having a main fluid passageway in fluid connection with a proximal end of a pressure fluid passageway, the main fluid passageway including a fluid port and a second fluid port, wherein a hose barb is operatively attached to the body at the fluid port and the second fluid port, wherein the disposable tubing can be removably attached to the hose barbs, and the pressure fluid passageway including a distal end for removable attachment of a sanitary pressure gauge and a biocompatible gauge protector for isolation of the fluid from the sanitary pressure gauge. No dead zone is achieved within the gauge tee as the proximal end of the pressure fluid passageway is substantially the same diameter as the distal end of the pressure fluid passageway, therein providing a total transfer of fluid within the pressure fluid passageway during fluid flow.
