Publication number: 20070013144Abstract: Novel means for sealing reactors used in reaction processes are disclosed. A catalyst impregnated carrier material is provided in the gap between the monolith catalyst and the refractory lining of the reactor. The catalytic carriers are the same catalyst materials or have substantially similar catalytic activity as the catalytic monolith. Additionally, the catalytic material is applied as a thin catalytic film deposited on the refractory lining. These methods provide not only pressure drop to minimize reactant flow along the inner wall of refractory lining, but also additional active reaction zone. This sealing method is suitable for any types of reactions on catalytic monoliths, particularly syngas production by partial oxidation of methane to reduce methane and oxygen leakages.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2005Publication date: January 18, 2007Inventors: Seungdoo Park, Weibin Jiang, Mark Tomczak, Divyanshu Acharya

Publication number: 20070013186Abstract: A pretensioning apparatus for seat belt webbing is located in the vicinity of a belt anchor end of a three-point vehicle safety restraint seat belt. The pretensioning apparatus has a fixed member in the form of a tubular member that may be anchored to a vehicle seat at the belt anchor side of the vehicle. A movable member in the form of a piston is connected to the webbing in the region of the belt anchor end. A means is provided for moving the movable member relative to the fixed member in a generally horizontal direction, to move the seat belt webbing in a pretensioning direction in response to a signal from a crash sensor. A webbing guide is fixed to the seat to provide an effective anchorage point spaced from the belt anchor end of the webbing under pretensioning conditions.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2006Publication date: January 18, 2007Inventor: John Bell

Publication number: 20070013187Abstract: A drain fitting has a unitary body with a lower section and an upper section upstanding from the lower section. The lower section encompasses a space and is open to the drain line to be cleaned. The upper section has a side wall and an inner wall which forms a channel. The inner wall encompasses a through passage which is open to the space encompassed within the lower section. A line of a given diameter can thus be received and maintained around the side walls. Another line of different diameter can be received and maintained within the channel and lines of other different diameters can be maintained within the through passage.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 14, 2005Publication date: January 18, 2007Inventors: Robert Petner, Charles Gengler

Publication number: 20070013188Abstract: A metal ring gasket provides a high-pressure temperature tolerant metal-to-metal seal between subcomponents of a threaded union. The metal ring gasket is received in an annular cavity formed between mating surfaces of the subcomponents of the threaded union. The metal ring gasket is capable of maintaining a fluid seal even at very high temperatures resulting from direct exposure to fire. At high fluid pressures the metal ring gasket is energized because hoop stress induced by the fluid pressure forces the metal ring gasket into tighter contact with the subcomponents of the threaded union.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 14, 2005Publication date: January 18, 2007Inventors: L. Publication number: 20070013189Abstract: A fitting assembly for forming a fluid-tight seal with an end of a stainless steel tube is provided with an adapter that is composed of a material that is harder than the material that the stainless steel tube is composed of. The adapter may include an insert that is composed of a material that is harder than the material that the stainless steel tube is composed of. The stainless steel tube may be gripped between a bushing that is connected to a nut and an adapter to create the fluid-tight seal.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2005Publication date: January 18, 2007Inventors: Scott Duquette, Mehdi Golafshani, Brian Kraft

Publication number: 20070013190Abstract: A method of controlling connection of an AC power output to a load (11) and to a power supply grid (8). The AC power output is produced by an AC power generating system which includes an AC/AC convertor (3) and which is independently operable to supply power to the load (11). Operation of the AC/AC convertor (3) for independent operation is controlled in accordance with a reference (Unr) which is generated within the system. In order to connect the AC power output to the power supply grid (8) in addition to supplying the load (11), the reference (Enr) which was derived from the AC power output voltage (Vacc) during independent operation is replaced by another reference (Irp) which is derived from the voltage (Vacg) of the grid (8) so that the AC/AC convertor (3) is controlled by that other reference (Irp) when the AC power output is connected.to the grid (8) as well as supplying the power required by the load (11).Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2004Publication date: January 18, 2007Applicant: NEWAGE INTERNATIONAL LIMITEDInventors: Nazar Al-Khayat, Wlodzimierz Koczara, Emile Ernest

Publication number: 20070013192Abstract: The method for creating energy sources for a vehicle drive system includes burning an air fuel mixture in an internal combustion engine and discharging the burned air fuel mixture through an exhaust system of the vehicle. Steam is created utilizing heat of the exhaust system. The steam is passed through a generator which supplies mechanical or electrical power to an appropriate drive system of the vehicle. Hydrogen can be created utilizing the steam and a catalyst substrate. Wind turbines mounted to the vehicle can also supply electricity to the vehicle as air passes through the turbines due to movement of the vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2006Publication date: January 18, 2007Inventor: Bruce Berkson
