Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus that relates to a gear set. The apparatus includes, a housing, a first gear movable in the housing such that a first axis defined by the first gear is repositionable relative to the housing, a second gear in mesh with the first gear, and a second axis defined by the second gear. The apparatus constrains movement of the first axis to a plane containing both the first axis and a line commonly perpendicular to the first axis and the second axis, and a biasing member that urges the first gear toward the second gear.

Abstract: A device and method used for locking three shafts of an automatic transmission during tightening of a shaft-retaining nut. The device has a housing with a sidewall defining a fluid chamber and a tip at the first end of the housing. A fluid passage extends through the tip from the fluid chamber at one end of the tip and a clutch apply port at a second, opposite end of the tip. A tube, such as a coupling, is mounted to the housing sidewall through which a fluid passage extends in fluid communication with the fluid chamber. A compressed gas conduit is mounted to the coupling and is in fluid communication with the coupling fluid passage. As a park mechanism on the transmission is applied, a predetermined amount of air pressure from the compressed gas conduit is applied through the coupling, housing and tip to the clutch apply port, thereby locking the three shafts of the automatic transmission together. The shaft retaining nuts are tightened and the device can be released, thereby releasing the shaft.

Abstract: A nickel powder with a mean particle size of 0.05 to 1.0 ?m, the nickel powder comprising a thin oxidized layer of nickel on a surface thereof and having an oxygen content of 0.3 to 3.0 wt. % and a carbon content of 100 ppm or less per specific surface area of 1 m2/g of the powder, in a weight proportion of carbon to the nickel powder of unit weight. When the powder is used for a conductive paste for forming inner electrode layers of a multilayer electronic component, it enables the decrease in the residual carbon amount after a binder removal process, thereby making it possible to obtain a multilayer ceramic electronic component with excellent electric characteristics and high reliability in which electrode layers excelling in continuity are formed without decreasing the strength and electric characteristics of the electronic component or creating structural defects.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the separation and recovery of non-ferrous metals from zinc-bearing residues, in particular from residues produced by the zinc manufacturing industry. The process allows for the valorisation of metal values in a Zn-, Fe- and Pb-bearing residue, and comprises the steps of: subjecting the residue to a direct reduction step, thereby producing a metallic Fe-bearing phase and Zn- and Pb-bearing first fumes; extracting the Zn- and Pb-bearing first fumes and valorising Zn and Pb; subjecting the metallic Fe-bearing phase to an oxidising smelting step, thereby producing an Fe-bearing slag and second metals-bearing fumes; extracting the second metals-bearing fumes and valorising at least part of their metallic content. The main advantage of this process is that an environmentally acceptable output for Fe is obtained.

Typically, a water pump returns the water to the water inlet at the top portion of the chamber through at least one conduit leading from the reservoir. An air pump typically drives the room air through the chamber from one air portal to the other and back into the room. The room air is purified as it mixes with the water cascading over the shelves.

Abstract: A method of increasing the nitrogen concentration within a tire of a vehicle includes transporting a mobile nitrogen concentrating apparatus to a position adjacent the vehicle and concentrating a nitrogen content of a compressed first gas to obtain a second gas. The method also includes coupling the nitrogen concentrating apparatus in fluid communication with the tire and programming an inflator to purge the tire to a predetermined pressure and then pressurizing the container to a predetermined pressure. The method also includes purging the container of a portion of the existing gas and introducing a portion of the second gas into the tire to create a first gas mixture. The method additionally includes purging the container of a portion of the first gas mixture, and introducing a portion of the second gas into the tire to create a second gas mixture.

Abstract: A self-contained chromatography system is provided and includes a chromatography column, a carrier gas reservoir containing a carrier gas and an analyte stream processing device, wherein the carrier gas reservoir is disposed upstream from the chromatography column and wherein the analyte stream processing device is disposed downstream from the chromatography column. A method for implementing the self-contained chromatography system is also provided and includes generating a first system pressure upstream from the chromatography column and a second system pressure downstream from the chromatography column to cause the carrier gas to flow between the carrier gas reservoir and the analyte stream processing device. The method further includes combining a sample material with the carrier gas, introducing the combined sample to the chromatography column to generate the analyte stream and processing the analyte stream via the analyte stream processing device.

Abstract: An inlet assembly for introducing a sample into a carrier gas stream for gas chromatography is disclosed including a housing having a bore that receives a liner. A sealing member having a core with a surface layer is positioned within the bore in sealing engagement with the bore and the liner. The surface layer of the sealing member has a lower adhesion to the housing than the core. The surface layer facilitates removal of the sealing member and the liner from the bore. A method of replacing an existing liner in an inlet assembly for chromatography is also disclosed. The method includes providing a liner with a sealing member having a core with a surface layer having a lower adhesion to the housing than the core, removing the existing liner from the bore and inserting a new liner with a new sealing member into the bore.

Abstract: An evaporative emissions control canister for adsorbing fuel vapors from a fuel tank on a marine vessel. The canister comprises a polymeric extruded housing that may be formed to any desired length or cut from extruded stock. Identical end caps having tubing connectors are bonded to opposite ends of the housing, defining an inlet and an outlet. Marine-grade pelletized activated carbon is disposed within the housing between porous slidable plates that are spring loaded against the end caps to pack the carbon tightly against the housing walls. Mounting brackets at each end are rotatably attached to the end caps so that opposite ends of the assembly may be attached to different surfaces of the vessel's hull, thus relieving stress which might be introduced into the assembly. Preferably, the assembly is wrapped in a fire retardant material.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a silencer for an airline hood and a protective hood having the silencer. The present invention reduces the speed of air fed into a space between upper and lower units, using an air distributing means, prior to discharging the air through air outlet holes formed on the lower unit to the outside of the space, thus minimizing noise due to the air. Further, the silencer for an airline hood is installed in the protective hood, thus minimizing noise, therefore increasing work efficiency, when a worker works with the protective hood on.
