Abstract: Techniques and tools for high accuracy position calculation for picture resizing in applications such as spatially-scalable video coding and decoding are described. In one aspect, resampling of a video picture is performed according to a resampling scale factor. The resampling comprises computation of a sample value at a position i,j in a resampled array. The computation includes computing a derived horizontal or vertical sub-sample position x or y in a manner that involves approximating a value in part by multiplying a 2n value by an inverse (approximate or exact) of the upsampling scale factor. The approximating can be a rounding or some other kind of approximating, such as a ceiling or floor function that approximates to a nearby integer. The sample value is interpolated using a filter.

Abstract: Background noise, optionally spectrally matched, is performed directly in a coded domain. A Coded Domain Spectrally Matched Noise Injection (CD-SMNI) system modifies at least one parameter of a first encoded signal, resulting in corresponding modified parameter(s). The CD-SMNI system replaces the parameter(s) of the first encoded signal with the modified parameter(s), resulting in a second encoded signal. In a decoded state, the second encoded signal approximates background noise in the first encoded signal in a decoded state. Thus, the first encoded signal does not have to go through intermediate decode/re-encode processes, which can degrade overall speech quality. Computational resources required for a complete re-encoding are not needed. Overall delay of the system is minimized. The CD-SMNI system can be used in any network in which signals are communicated in a coded domain, such as a Third Generation (3G) wireless network using Enhanced Variable Rate Coders (EVRCs).

The IVR system determines an available at home agent with the proper language skills and forwards the call to be processed by the at home agent. The at home agents can call the call center to set their status. Information associated with the call may be collected and used by associated system(s) such as quality control, status monitoring, financial processing, and the like.

Abstract: A connection apparatus is employed which is connected to a repeating apparatus for providing the PoC for first communication apparatuses having a PoC function. Call connection is established between the connection apparatus and second communication apparatus not having the PoC function. In the connection apparatus, recorded is apparatus information for identifying each second communication apparatus. The connection apparatus has the function of acting as a proxy of the second communication apparatus identified by the apparatus information. This function consists of the function of performing half duplex communication with the repeating apparatus; the function of transmitting output data received from the second communication apparatus, to the repeating apparatus when the second communication apparatus has acquired transmission right; and the function of transmitting received output data to the second communication apparatus when the output data is received from the repeating apparatus.

Abstract: In a secret information management system for managing a secret information of a user, the secret information is divided into a plurality of divided data by using a secret sharing scheme, such that the secret information can be recovered from a prescribed number of the divided data, and a part of the plurality of divided data is stored into a terminal of the user as user's divided data while a rest of the plurality of divided data are stored into one or more of deposit servers. Then, a plurality of re-divided data different from the plurality of divided data are generated, from a combination of the prescribed number of the divided data among the divided data stored in the deposit servers by using the secret sharing scheme, and a part of the plurality of re-divided data is stored into the terminal as newly generated user's divided data while a rest of the plurality of re-divided data are stored into the deposit servers as newly generated divided data.

The secure data parser parses data and then splits the data into multiple portions that are stored or communicated distinctly. Encryption of the original data, the portions of data, or both may be employed for additional security. The secure data parser may be used to protect data in motion by splitting original data into portions of data, that may be communicated using multiple communications paths.

Abstract: A copy control apparatus is provided in one-to-one correspondence with a car navigation system. Connection of the copy control apparatus with an information processing apparatus such as a PC enables to transmit content only from the information processing apparatus to which the copy control apparatus is connected to the car navigation system. With this configuration, the copy control apparatus stores a device key used to encrypt the content, and encrypts the device key with another encryption key to transmit the encrypted device key to the information processing apparatus. The information processing apparatus encrypts a copy of the content by use of the received device key, and then sends the encrypted copy to a content receiving apparatus. The content receiving apparatus decrypts the received copy of the content by use of a stored device key, and then stores the decrypted copy of the content in a storage unit.

Abstract: If the communication partner of a client node (A1a) is an encryption communication target node (C1), a DNS Proxy unit (A12a) in the client node rewrites a response to a name resolution request for the communication partner node of an application from the actual IP address of the communication partner node to a loopback address that changes depending on the communication partner. On the basis of the destination loopback address of a data packet transmitted from the application, a communication encryption module (A13a) in the client node identifies the communication partner and the encryption communication path to be used for communication with the communication partner. Hence, encryption communication can simultaneously be executed directly with a plurality of communication partner nodes by using the communication encryption module that operates as an independent process.

Abstract: The invention provides an establishment of a secret session key shared Between two network elements (NEa, NEb) belonging to different network domains (NDa, NDb). A first network element (NEa) of a first network domain (NDa) requests security parameters from an associated key management center (KMC) (AAAa). Upon reception of the request, the KMC (AAAa) generates a freshness token (FRESH) and calculates the session key (K) based on this token (FRESH) and a master key (KAB) shared with a second network domain (NDb). The security parameters are (securely) provided to the network element (NEa), which extracts the session key (K) and forwards the freshness token (FRESH) to the KMC (AAAb) of the second domain (NDb) through a second network element (NEb). Based on the token (FRESH) and the shared master key (KAB), the KMC (AAAb) generates a copy of the session key (K), which is (securely) provided to the second network element (NEb).
