Abstract: A collision obstacle discrimination device has a load sensor. The load sensor includes an elongated member which is arranged in a bumper of a vehicle and extends substantially in a width direction of the vehicle, and a plurality of sensor members which are fixed in a space defined by the elongated member and arrayed in the vehicle width direction. The sensor member is disposed to detect a physical property which varies in response to a load applied to the bumper due to a collision of the vehicle. Sensitivities of the plurality of sensor members are respectively set in response to vehicle-width-direction positions of the sensor members to be diversified, so that the plurality of sensor members have a substantially same response property with respect to the load applied to the bumper.

Abstract: An uninterrupted power supply unit is provided with a straightforward switch connected between a power source and a load to supply or interrupt a power to a system. The combination of the outputs from two kinds of single phase inverters enables compensating for a variation in the system voltage in the normal condition and to supply a predetermined voltage to the load after decreasing in the system voltage and opening of a straight forward switch.

Abstract: An improved synchronous tubular electrical machine comprises a radially outer member that has a substantially cylindrical inner surface and radially inner member that is substantially cylindrical and is coaxially disposed within the outer member such that it may move reciprocally relative to the outer member in the axial direction. A plurality of axially spaced circumferential armature coils are electrically insulated from one another and are formed as part of one of the outer member and the inner member. A plurality of axially spaced circumferential superconducting coils are formed as part of the other of the outer member and the inner member. During operation of the tubular machine, each superconducting coil is maintained in a superconducting state and an electrical current is supplied to each superconducting coil in such a manner that the current flowing around each coil is in the opposite direction to the current flowing around the coils adjacent to it.

Abstract: An electromagnetic exciter includes a first suspension having a cylindrical side wall portion coaxial with respect to a cylindrical wall of a yoke of a magnetic circuit assembly, and a spring portion integrally formed at the lower end of the cylindrical side wall portion to support the lower end of the magnetic circuit assembly so that the magnetic circuit assembly is vibratable. An annular support member is secured to the inner peripheral surface of the upper end opening of the cylindrical side wall portion of the first suspension. A printed wiring board that supports a voice coil is supported on the annular support member. A protector has a cylindrical portion installed to cover the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical side wall portion of the first suspension, and a caulking portion that is bent radially inward over the upper end edge of the cylindrical side wall portion of the first suspension to clamp the printed wiring board between itself and the annular support member.

Abstract: The two phase motor of small size is formed by a stator comprising principal magnetic poles (8, 10, 12) arranged in the same general plane and by a rotor provided with a bipolar permanent magnet (6). The first and second principal poles are connected to the third principal pole by two magnetic cores respectively, each carrying one of two windings (20, 22). The third principal pole (12) defines to adjacent secondary poles (26, 28) separated from one another by a region (30) of high magnetic reluctance. The first and second principal poles (8, 10) and the two secondary poles (26, 28) are distributed in four sectors of a circle of around 90° around the stator aperture (40). The invention also concerns a method of making the stator of a motor of the type described above.

Abstract: The main body of a rotary electrical machine is accommodated in a frame (1). A circulatory device (5) is provided that is rotated by a rotor (3) of said rotary electrical machine, in which there is accommodated cooling liquid (7) that cools at least the main body of the rotary electrical machine. The circulatory device (5) circulates said cooling liquid (7) to outside of the frame (1) by pump action. The cooling liquid (7) is accumulated by a reserve tank before being circulated within the frame (1). After the heated cooling liquid (7) is cooled in the reserve tank, this accumulated cooling liquid (7) is then caused to flow back into the frame (1) by the pressure difference.

Abstract: An electric motor including a rotational sensor is provided. Certain examples of the rotational sensor are operative to output a sinusoidal signal that corresponds to the rotational position of the motor armature in response to the potential at a single point or multiple points on the commutator. Certain other examples of the motor and rotational sensor disclosed here are operative to provide multiple pulses per rotation of the armature, which can allow for finer adjustment of devices attached to the motor. The motor and rotational sensor provides a simpler and less costly design requiring fewer parts subject to mechanical failure.
