Publication number: 20070177544Abstract: A wireless communication network (20) includes a power control technique that includes repeating an erasure indicator bit in a transmission from a mobile station (22) to a base station (24, 30, 36). The repeated erasure indicator bit is transmitted on the uplink to each base station. The base station then uses the majority rule of those repeated erasure indicator bits to adjust its transmit power. It results in a desired power control command corresponding to the quality of a downlink between a base station (24, 30, 36) and the mobile station (22). A disclosed example includes using the repeated error indicator bit for deciding whether a recent frame should be considered an erasure. If so, the base station increases power on the downlink forward channel. If not, the base station decreases the transmit power on the downlink forward channel. A disclosed example includes alternative power control adjustment techniques, depending on the recent history of the quality of the downlink.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Inventors: Dongzhe Cui, Yuan-Rong Shen

Publication number: 20070177565Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for controlling a data rate for a forward data service in a CDMA 2000-1x system. Conventionally, the data rate from a base station to a mobile station is constant regardless of the wireless environment of the mobile station. As such, resources used in the base station for communication with the mobile station may be wasted if the data throughput is low due to the poor wireless environment. The present invention, however, resolves this problem by varying the data rate according to Energy of Carriers/Interference of Others' (Ec/Io) of the data, which indicates the wireless environment of the mobile station. With the present invention, the resources in a base station, which would be wasted for communication with a mobile station in a poor wireless environment, can be used for other mobile stations. Thus, the resources of the overall CDMA 2000-1x system can be used efficiently.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2004Publication date: August 2, 2007Inventor: Jung Lee

This would allow, for example, large attachments (e.g., a video file) to accompany the SOAP message in the body, while still supporting random access to message headers. Accordingly, embodiments provide a SOAP data model that allows a developer to create an object and specify whether or not portions of the message should be buffered or streamed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Michael S. Publication number: 20070177584Abstract: A packet-based, hierarchical communication system, arranged in a spanning tree configuration, is described in which wired and wireless communication networks exhibiting substantially different characteristics are employed in an overall scheme to link portable or mobile computing devices. The network accommodates real time voice transmission both through dedicated, scheduled bandwidth and through a packet-based routing within the confines and constraints of a data network. Conversion and call processing circuitry is also disclosed which enables access devices and personal computers to adapt voice information between analog voice stream and digital voice packet formats as proves necessary. Routing pathways include wireless spanning tree networks, wide area networks, telephone switching networks, internet, etc., in a manner virtually transparent to the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 28, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Inventors: Joseph Kubler, Michael Morris

Publication number: 20070177588Abstract: Provided is a method for transmitting a burst in an optical burst switching system, in which when a burst is generated at an originating node, a burst control packet is transmitted to a destination node by way of a plurality of nodes and then a data burst is transmitted after a pre-allocated offset time. The method includes the steps of obtaining an arrival time of data bursts that survive competition to occupy an output channel among data bursts transmitted to the next node by way of the current node using offset time information in burst control packets for the survived data bursts, checking whether an empty void is present between the survived data bursts by using the obtained arrival time of the survived data bursts, and generating a new data burst originating from the current node, inserting the newly generated data burst into the checked empty void, and transmitting to the next node. This method can improve channel utilization and maximize performance of the optical burst switching system.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: Research and Industrial Cooperation GroupInventors: Seoung Lee, In Hwang, Hong Park

Publication number: 20070177589Abstract: In a star type network which distributes loads by a plurality of multi-point switches MP-SWs, the information on the number of normal ports for each identifier of the logical connection is sent from an MP-SW to a slave SW, and the slave SW selects an MP-SW having a higher number of normal ports as the transfer destination of the data frame for each identifier. This node redundancy method can switch lines easily at high-speed when a link down occurs.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Inventor: Akio Endo

Publication number: 20070177590Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide for a message contract programming model, which is a mechanism for service developers to control the processing, layout, and creation of messages (e.g., SOAP) without losing the benefits of a strongly-typed data contract model. Such programming model is based on attributes, which can be used to define the action or operations, headers, and body parts components of a message. These attributes may be used on a type annotated with message contract or on a service operation to control the manner in which the message (e.g., SOAP) is constructed from a service process, process parameters, and/or return values. The use of the message contract in conjunction with a message formatter as defined herein provides for many advantageous features and embodiments described herein.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Michael S. Publication number: 20070177591Abstract: Data packets transmitted over a wireless network are suppressed by hardware at the transmitting end and expanded on the receiving end. This conserves bandwidth as well as reduces the processing resource requirements in both the subscriber station and the base station. An extended header element is added to a data packet that is to be transmitted over the wireless network. The extended header element contains an index that is used along with an identifier to access a rule. The rule is used to determine which bytes are to be suppressed at the transmitter and expanded at the receiver.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2007Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: Broadcom CorporationInventors: John Horton, Robert Lee, David Pullen

Publication number: 20070177593Abstract: Network devices in a multicast network exchange multicast optimization data to improve efficiency of multicasting in the network. A protocol, e.g., a routing protocol or a multicast protocol, may be extended to allow the network devices to exchange the multicast optimization data. Alternatively, a separate protocol may be established for exchanging MOD. A network device may receive a message from an upstream device located between the device and a source for a multicast group, wherein the message includes multicast optimization data that specifies at least one criterion for selecting an upstream device. The device may use the data to intelligently select an optimal upstream device for receiving multicast using any of a variety of criteria to rank the upstream routers, such as minimization of multicast traffic duplication, load balancing current bandwidth levels, and avoiding paths experiencing communication delays.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: Juniper Networks, Inc.Inventor: Kireeti Kompella
