Publication number: 20070177487Abstract: In a user data area, control of recording laser power cannot be performed accurately. In recording data in the user data area, data for the control of recording laser power is also recorded together with user data to be recorded. By reproducing the data for control of recording laser power, the recording laser power can be controlled to be suitable for a user data recording position and user data is recorded with use of the thus-controlled laser power. In this way the recording laser power can be controlled to be suitable for a recording position on an optical disc and hence an optical disc superior in recording quality is realized.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Inventors: Naohito Ikeda, Tatsuya Ishitobi

Publication number: 20070177488Abstract: An optical module has a first light source which emits a first light beam from a first light emission point in a predetermined direction, a second light source which emits a second light beam from a second light emission point in the predetermined direction, and an optical element. The optical element includes a plurality of reflection surfaces for reflecting the first and second light beams, and finally outputting the first and second light beams in the predetermined direction with a separation between the first and second light beams smaller than a distance between the first and second light emission points.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Inventor: Satoru Sugawara

Publication number: 20070177489Abstract: An optical disk has a lead-in region provided at the inner circumference side and a user region provided at the outer circumference side. Pit string 3 of pits of different depths-is-formed-in-the-lead-in-region. Light beam reflected from the pit string is detected by detector and TPP and RF signals are output by differential amplifier and addition amplifier. A ternary signal is restored from pits based on the TPP and RF signals. Information is recorded by pits of the same depth in the user region. Recording information in the depth direction in the lead-in region increases the recording capacity thereof The information recorded in the depth direction in the lead-in region cannot be transferred to a user region of another optical disk.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Junsaku Nakajima, Hitoshi Takeuchi, Masaru Nomura, Kenji Ohta

Publication number: 20070177493Abstract: A carrier recovery circuit of receiving an OFDM data, comprising a demodulator, a domain transformer, an equalizer, a frequency offset detector, and a compensator. The demodulator demodulates the OFDM data with a carrier signal. The domain transformer is coupled to the demodulator, and transforms the OFDM data to frequency domain. The equalizer is coupled to the domain transformer and frequency equalizes the OFDM data. The frequency offset detector is coupled to the equalizer, retrieves a phase reference data from the OFDM data, and determines a frequency offset based on the phase reference data and a predetermined data in the carrier recovery circuit. The compensator is coupled to the frequency offset detector, and compensates the frequency offset signal based on the estimated frequency offset.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Inventors: Chia-Hsin Lin, Po-Chun Huang
