Publication number: 20070177795Abstract: The field of the invention is that of graphical libraries providing graphical functions used for the drawing of symbologic images. One of the fields of favored application is the generation of symbologic images for the piloting of aircraft. The object of the invention is to propose a method of graphical generation of a colored vector surrounded by a dark contour (H) on a background likewise colored as a single drawing, making it possible to preserve the function of antialiasing. The method uses two different mixing laws dependent on the position of the pixel of the vector with respect to the central axis of the vector. This method presents the following advantages: The calculations are optimized and successive writes to the buffer-memory are avoided; The dark contour is drawn at the same time as the vector of which it forms an integral part and thus becomes a functional state of the vector; The method takes into account the relative priority of the vectors with a single ordering logic.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2005Publication date: August 2, 2007Inventors: David Arneau, Eric Filliatre

Publication number: 20070177799Abstract: Images with closely spaced objects can be processed using a deblending procedure that includes the calculation of some moments and centroids of intensity data. Methods and apparatus for performing this processing are well-suited for use in DNA sequencing, where the locations of fluorescing nucleotides appearing in images must be compared across several images and can be very close to one another in any single image. The increased accuracy and resolution provided by embodiments of the invention reveals previously undetected or misdetected fluorescing nucleotides, thereby facilitating the sequencing process. Embodiments of the invention can be used in other applications where, for example, defects in testing apparatus and/or limitations on image resolution frustrate subsequent analyses.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: Helicos BioSciences CorporationInventor: Anastasia Tyurina

Publication number: 20070177800Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for maintaining a background image model in a background subtraction system using accumulated motion. A background image model is maintained by obtaining a map of accumulated motion; and adjusting the background image model based on the map of accumulated motion. The map of accumulated motion may be obtained, for example, based on one or more of motion field images; stability maps; frame differences; or information from a background subtraction system. Objects can be added to or removed from the background model or the background model can be otherwise updated. One or more pixels from an image are added to the background image model if a stability measure for the one or more pixels satisfies a predefined criteria. A portion of the background image model can be invalidated in regions where the map of accumulated motion exceeds a predefined threshold.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Jonathan Connell

Publication number: 20070177801Abstract: A game apparatus displays a game screen of 9×9 grid, for example, of a Sudoku puzzle on one LCD and an empty cell (cell to be answered) is large-displayed on the other LCD. A touch panel is provided on the LCD to allow a player to handwrite a numeral to fill in the cell with a stick, etc. on the touch panel. When a handwritten region is larger at a certain degree or more with respect to the cell, it is considered that an answer numeral is input, and the answer numeral is large-displayed. If the handwritten region is not so large as to the cell, it is considered that a note numeral is input, and the note numeral is displayed in a smaller region in the cell. However, if the notes numeral is settled as an answer numeral, a game determination is performed according to the answer numeral.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: Nintendo Co., Ltd.Inventors: Koichi Kawamoto, Jun Ito

Publication number: 20070177802Abstract: A renderer allows for a flexible and temporally coherent ordering of strokes in the context of stroke-based animation. The relative order of the strokes is specified by the artist or inferred from geometric properties of the scene, such as occlusion, for each frame of a sequence, as a set of stroke pair-wise constraints. Using the received constraints, the strokes are partially ordered for each of the frames. Based on these partial orderings, for each frame, a permutation of the strokes is selected amongst the ones consistent with the frame's partial order, so as to globally improve the perceived temporal coherence of the animation. The sequence of frames can then, for instance, be rendered by ordering the strokes according to the selected set of permutations for the sequence of frames.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2007Publication date: August 2, 2007Inventors: Stephane Grabli, Robert Kalnins, Nathan LeZotte, Amitabh Agrawal

Publication number: 20070177837Abstract: A radial bearing (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d), especially a roller bearing (9) comprising an outer part (3) opposite an inner part (6), which rotate relative to each other about a common longitudinal axis (5) is provided, wherein the radial bearing (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d) includes a bearing seat (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d), which is formed in the outer part (3) or on the inner part (6) and which is generally stationary relative to a radial load (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d) acting on the bearing seat (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d) in a load zone (12a, 12b, 12c, 12d). The bearing seat (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d) features a variable width over its extent in a direction of the longitudinal axis (5), such that, starting from the load zone (12a, 12b, 12c, 12d), the bearing seat (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d) is significantly narrowed outside of the load zone (12a, 12b, 12c, 12d).Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: SCHAEFFLER KGInventors: Siegfried Tisch, Peter Solfrank

Publication number: 20070177841Abstract: A LADAR system includes a detector optical arrangement defining a current optical field of view. An illumination subsystem without moving parts transmits pulsed illumination at different times to each of a number of illumination sub-regions of the current optical field of view, and a detection subsystem, including one or more detectors, detects reflected illumination from a corresponding one or more detection sub-region of the current optical field of view. Each of the detection sub-regions overlaps illumination sub-regions so that an overlap of each of the illumination sub-regions with the detection sub-region defines a LADAR image pixel of resolution finer than the detection sub-region.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2007Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: RAFAEL - ARMAMENT DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY LTD.Inventor: Yochay Danziger
