Abstract: A compact or thin lighting system is provided. Light fluxes emitted from an arc tube 22 are made to enter from a light reception face c1 of an optical member 24 from a reflector 24 and to emit from a light emission face c3 orthogonal to the light reception face c1. Light fluxes entering the light emission face c3 at a small angle are reflected and turned to a main reflection face c2, and then emitted from the light emission face c3. By using total internal reflection of the light emission face, the size and thickness can be decreased.

Abstract: The invention relates to an LED lighting device, in particular for motor vehicle headlamps, which comprises an LED element (3), a collimator (1) which emits the light emitted by the LED element (3) through a collimator opening (5) in a collimated manner, and a reflector (7) which has a semiparabolic concave reflective surface (8), an irradiated plane (9), a focal point (F) in the irradiated face (9) and an emission plane (10) which emits light in an emission direction of the reflector (7) and encloses an angle with the irradiated face (9). According to the invention, the collimator (1) is designed and/or arranged in such a way that the collimated light coming from the collimator (1), as seen in the emission direction, is irradiated into the irradiated face (9) either completely in front of or completely behind the focal point (F).

Abstract: A luminaire with improved lateral illuminance control comprising a light pipe with a longitudinal center is disclosed. A light-extraction means applied to a radial swath of the light pipe has a longitudinal portion having dimension along its length, centered about a slice on the light pipe longitudinally; said slice being orthogonal to the longitudinal center and located in a propagation plane through which light propagates to a virtual target area intersecting the propagation plane. The light pipe intervenes between the radial swath and the target area. A first average efficiency point of the light-extraction means corresponds to the minimum distance to the target area being at least approximately 20% less than a respective, second average efficiency point corresponding to a respective maximum distance to such area. The light-extraction means efficiency varies from the first average efficiency point to the second average efficiency point though more than one non-zero value.

Abstract: A light-emitting diode backlight module of a display, including a mother circuit board, multiple light-emitting diode units arranged on the mother circuit board and a cover board formed with multiple receiving cavities on a first face. The receiving cavities are respectively aligned with the light-emitting diode units arranged on the mother circuit board, whereby the light-emitting diode units are accommodated in the receiving cavities. The first face of the cover board is attached to the mother circuit board to form a plane flat light-emitting diode backlight module. The cover board is a light guide board or a board body made from a heat-radiating material.

Abstract: A light guide plate (LGP) with auxiliary light guide structures is presented, wherein the top or bottom surface has a plurality of auxiliary light guide structures and light guide patterns, and wherein the dihedral angle between the tangent plane of the auxiliary light guide structure and the reference plane is less than 40 degrees. And the surfaces of the light guide pattern are rough surfaces. Together with the functions of the auxiliary light guide structures and the light guide patterns, the light is guided and emitted out of the LGP, and then the probability of the light emitted out of the LGP is increased after the light is scattered or reflected by the light guide patterns.
