Abstract: Dynamic data path component configuration apparatus and methods are disclosed. A configuration of a data path link that is operatively coupled to a communication equipment data path is determined. A determination as to whether a configurable data path component, which is configurable to exchange data with the data path link and with another data path link, is configured compatibly with the determined configuration, is also made. If the configurable data path component is not configured compatibly with the determined configuration, then an operation to configure the configurable data path component is performed. The configuring operation could dynamically configure the data path component to increase or reduce data path speed, to bond multiple links, and/or to unbond multiple links, as electronic cards are installed or removed, for example. During the configuring operation, the configurable data path component is able to exchange data with other data path links and accordingly is non-service affecting.

Abstract: In order to address the above-mentioned need, a method and apparatus for assigning time-domain resources to a wireless receiver is provided herein. During operation a resource assigned to a particular node will comprise a particular-length subframe having a unique combination of a number of contiguous slots and a slot start time. The subframe will repeat after a predetermined number of slots to form a subframe pattern. For a given frequency resource (group of subchannels), each node to which the base station is transmitting a packet will have a unique subframe length, starting slot, and repetition time period. Because each node will be assigned a subframe pattern having a particular length, and because each node's transmissions will begin at varying slots, the resources may be assigned to multiple nodes without having any transmissions overlap.

Abstract: Techniques to improve searches for wireless networks are described. A terminal uses results of a search for one radio technology to reduce the search space for another search for the same radio technology or a different radio technology. In one scheme, a first search for a first radio technology (e.g., GSM) is initially performed, and search results indicating frequency channels acquired for the first radio technology are obtained. A second search for a second radio technology (e.g., W-CDMA) is performed using the results of the first search to omit frequencies from the second search. In another scheme, acquisition is performed on at least one frequency channel previously acquired for a radio technology (e.g., W-CDMA). Abstract: A method for providing frequency agility in a wireless network with a plurality of RF frequency channels. The nodes are formed into a hierarchical branching tree for communication. The RF environment for each of the plurality of RF channels is sensed as a function of time and the sensed measurements are stored. Based on the stored measurements of RF environment, a channel assignment scheme as a function of time is selected and transmitted to the network nodes. Nodes within the tree can be segmented geographically and assigned channels based on the sensed local RF environment. Nodes can also be segmented to reduce the density of nodes using the same assigned channels. Such frequency agility enhances the communication capability of a wireless sensor network in a harsh RF environment.

Abstract: The method for supporting pilot boost to the uplink dedicated channels in the WCDMA system comprising steps of: transmitting E-TFCI to a Node B by a UE; adjusting an uplink pilot power boosting amplitude by the UE according to the E-TFCI; and performing a uplink inner loop power control by the Node B according to a measured SIR, a target preset by the inner loop power control and a pilot boost amplitude resulted from the E-TFCI. The object of supporting pilot boost is achieved by transmitting E-TFCI in advance by the UE, adjusting the power of pilot according to the E-TFCI properly, and considering the pilot power boosting amplitude when the Node B performs inner loop power control in the invention. Thus, the object of improving the capacity of the wireless communication system can be accomplished through supporting the pilot boost in the invention.

Abstract: A multipath wireless communication is processed to recover a transmitted data signal without performing a direct matrix inversion (DMI). First, the multipath wireless communication is received. Then HHH and HHH values associated with the multipath wireless communication are determined. Weights based on HHH and HHH associated with the received data signal may then be determined and used to recover the transmitted data signal from the received multipath wireless communication.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for reliably distributing network management information in and ad hoc multi-hop wireless network which includes a number of existing nodes. A first node selects a particular timeslot in a dedicated channel based on the network management information received from the neighbor nodes and determines, via a contention channel, if the particular timeslot is being used by any neighbor nodes of the first node. If the particular timeslot is determined to be unused, then it is assigned to the first node for periodically transmitting network management information.

Abstract: In the communication system, a transmission signal based on the first radio access scheme is generated, and in the communication system a transmission signal based on the second radio access scheme different from the first radio access scheme is generated. A usage status of the frequency spectrum of the transmission signal based on the first radio access scheme, as well as the known parameters of the transmission signal based on the second radio access scheme, are determined by the pulse-shaping controller. Then, the pulse-shaping controller performs control so as to pulse-shape the transmission signal based on the first radio access scheme by means of the transmit filter on the basis of the result of the above determination, or performs control so as to pulse-shape the transmission signal based on the second radio access scheme by means of the transmit filter on the basis of the result of the above determination.

Abstract: Knowledge of the computational context of a computer operating environment, for example, awareness of process threads, is used to route IP traffic in the presence of multiple active network connections. An additional protocol may be added to the network layer of an operating system in order to map certain computational contexts to particular network interfaces. Any process with identification parameters associated with a mapped computational context requesting data transfer via a communication network is bound to the network interface previously associated with the computational context rather than an alternate network interface that otherwise might be the default. Further, process threads created by a parent process thread may be caused to inherit the computational context of the parent thread in order to assign traffic to the same network interface. This routing framework may have particular application with respect to multihomed host devices, for example, mobile computing devices.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the transfer of policy control information during handover in a communication system. A session between a terminal and a remote node via a first network node has been established previously. The session comprising media components transmitted via the first gateway using first media component bearers. A handover condition is detected and a signaling connection is established between the terminal and the second gateway. Information on a second network node is obtained by the terminal, which determines if a proxy for the session has changed. If it has, information on media components is sent to a policy decision entity associated with the second network node. The policy decision entity authorizes second media component bearers with the information provided. Finally, the second media component bearers are established between the terminal and the second gateway.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a system and a method for processing a packet domain service signal, which enable a terminal that does not support an access control protocol of an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) to access the IMS and acquire the services in the IMS. An AGCF is added for shielding the differences of the users on the basis of the IMS defined in the 3GPP R5/R6 standard, specifically, a PSTN/ISDN user accesses an AGF first, accesses the IMS through an agent function of the AGCF, and the AGCF also manages and controls the AGF. Control of the PSTN/ISDN services may be implemented in the AGCF, or in an AS added to the IMS, or the control of basic services and supplementary services may be implemented in the AGCF while the control of value-added services may be implemented in the AS.
