Abstract: A system for centrally controlling and messaging electrically active displays distributed at a single site or at multiple sites. A process for creating an electronically addressable display includes multiple printing operations, similar to a multi-color process in conventional screen printing. In some of the process steps, electrically non-active inks are printed onto areas of the receiving substrate, and in other steps, electrically active inks are printed onto different areas of the substrate. The printed display can be used in a variety of applications. This display can be used as an indicator by changing state of the display after a certain time has elapsed, or when a certain pressure, thermal, radiative, moisture, acoustic, inclination, pH, or other threshold is passed. In one embodiment, the display is incorporated into a battery indicator. A sticker display is described. The sticker is adhesive backed and may then be applied to a surface to create a functional information display unit.

Abstract: A transmitter/receiver obtains scanning data by transmitting ultrasonic waves to a subject to be examined and receiving reflected waves from the subject to be examined. An image processor converts the scanning data into image data represented by a predetermined coordinate system and applies a predetermined smoothing process to the image data. The image processor calculates the vector of each point, based on the image data after the smoothing process. The image processor generates three-dimensional image data by applying a ray-tracing process to the image data to which the smoothing process has not been applied, according to the vector.

Abstract: Splat lights apply environmental lighting effects to objects in a scene. Splat light sources bypass all or a majority of the operations of a shader program. The rendered color of an object due to the splat light is specified directly by the color of the splat light. A splat light includes a color, a direction, and an angular range. The illumination of a point on an object from a splat light is determined by a normal vector at that point. The splat light contributes no illumination to points that have normal vectors outside of the angular range of the splat light. Because splat lights specify the illuminated color and intensity of points directly, splat lights produce predictable and consistent illumination on objects. Splat lights can be specified with a user interface that displays splat light indicators positioned on an environmental lighting framework.

Abstract: A model-based design system couples intelligent 3D model elements with an analytical model that describes fluid flow through the 3D model. The system automatically generates annotation graphics for a 2D view of the elements with respect to a view plane. The system displays a drop symbol when the elements are below the view plane and the system displays a rise symbol when the elements penetrate and rise above the view plane. In addition to the rise/drop indications, the annotation graphics may indicate the type of service provided by the elements and the location and direction of flow. Advantageously, the system generates these annotation graphics automatically from 3D model and the analytical model.

Abstract: A reverse modeling method using mesh data as a feature to allow reverse modeling to be conducted by following a procedure of an original designer includes the steps of detecting optional model data, setting the model data as a feature, and establishing a reference coordinate system of set mesh data; establishing a work plane on which a sketch of the set mesh data can be projected; projecting section data of the mesh data on the work plane; dividing data projected on the work plane into feature segments depending upon curvature distributions, and producing divided segments as sketch data; and producing a three dimensional feature from the sketch data which corresponds to a shape of the mesh data, and storing the produced three dimensional feature as model data, wherein the produced sketch data and three dimensional feature are parametrically connected with each other.

Abstract: A graphics processing architecture employing a single shader is disclosed. The architecture includes a circuit operative to select one of a plurality of inputs in response to a control signal; and a shader, coupled to the arbiter, operative to process the selected one of the plurality of inputs, the shader including means for performing vertex operations and pixel operations, and wherein the shader performs one of the vertex operations or pixel operations based on the selected one of the plurality of inputs. The shader includes a register block which is used to store the plurality of selected inputs, a sequencer which maintains vertex manipulation and pixel manipulations instructions and a processor capable of executing both floating point arithmetic and logical operations on the selected inputs in response to the instructions maintained in the sequencer.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for a display system driving a display device is provided. The display system includes a processor, a primary display controller, a secondary display controller and the display device. The primary display controller receives display data that is sent by the processor. The primary display controller also drives the display device when the processor sends new display frames. When these display frames are sent by the processor continuously, control of the display device is switched to the secondary display controller, which is optimized for a low-power operation.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for distributing an image processing application over a set of processors. Said system comprises reading means for reading an input document, compiling means for detecting inconsistencies in said input document, and building means for building an executable code from said compiled document for programming said set of processors. The input document specifies modules for applying entire or steps of image processing functions to an input image. Such a module comprises input/output ports for receiving or transmitting image strips via input/output links. Said input/output ports are specified by a geometry and a law, said geometry defining a subdivision of said input image into a set of image strips and said law defining a subset of said set of image strips that is to pass through said input/output port. A module is attached to one processor of said set of processors, which runs the specified image processing function.

Abstract: A graphic system includes a pipelined graphic engine for generating image frames for display. The pipelined graphic engine includes a geometric processing stage for performing motion extraction, and a rendering stage for generating full image frames at a first frame rate for display at a second frame rate. The second frame rate is higher than the first frame rate. A motion encoder stage receives motion information from the geometric processing stage, and produces an interpolated frame signal representative of interpolated frames. A motion compensation stage receives the interpolated frame signal from the motion encoder stage, and the full image frames from the rendering stage for generating the interpolated frames. A preferred application is in graphic systems that operate in association with smart displays through a wireless connection, such as in mobile phones.

Abstract: An improved attribute determination process allows the sharpness of a surface attribute function to be adjusted on a per-object, per-surface, per-texture, per-function, or other appropriate basis. A computer-based animator then can selectively adjust the sharpness or other attribute(s) of portions of a to-be-rendered image without significantly increasing the rendering time. For a selected texture, corresponding sampling regions will be shifted about the respective surface points projected in texture space. A multi-dimensional set of sub-regions can be generated for the shifted sampling region. Bounding boxes can be determined for each sub-region, the boxes occupying less area, such as in texture space, than a single bounding box for the original sampling region. The bounding boxes can be used for local attribute determinations (such as texture lookups) for each sub-region, with the local attributes being processed to determine an attribute for the respective surface point.
