Publication number: 20070285182Abstract: A robust phase-lock detector for a phase-locked loop examines both the sum frequency and baseband components of an error signal from the phase-locked loop to determine that both a reference signal and an output signal for the phase-locked loop are present and that the reference and output signals have a desired phase relationship. An IF detector selects the sum frequency component, which is the sum of the reference frequency and a subdivided frequency from the output signal, and detects its presence. A baseband detector selects the baseband component and detects whether the baseband component is approximately zero volts. The outputs from the IF detector and the baseband detector are combined to produce a lock signal, indicating that the phase-locked loop is locked, i.e., the reference and output signals are present and have the desired phase relationship with respect to each other.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2006Publication date: December 13, 2007Inventor: Donald J. Publication number: 20070285189Abstract: The present invention provides a microwave and millimeter-wave balun. This balun is different from the conventional planar Marchand balun by using three edge-coupled lines instead of two edge-coupled lines and adding a pair of broadside coupled-lines. The broadside couple-lines are achieved by stacking two lines fully overlapped; the upper line is implemented using air-bridges to cross over the bottom line. By combining three edge-coupled-lines and broadside coupled-line, it will make the Marchand balun have a higher coupling coefficient and increase the operation bandwidth. The microwave monolithic integrated circuit (MMIC) mixer based on this invention can provide compact size compared to conventional ones.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2006Publication date: December 13, 2007Inventors: Pei-Si Wu, Tian_wei Huang, Huei Wang

Further, even when using a portable measurement instrument, people have to manage data by themselves, thus health data cannot be managed rapidly. According to the invention, a modulating circuit, a demodulating circuit, a logic circuit, a sensor circuit, and an antenna circuit are provided over an insulating substrate, thereby data sensed by the sensor circuit is transmitted wirelessly. According to the invention, health data on the living body (for example a human body) is sensed and can be rapidly detected.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2005Publication date: December 13, 2007Applicant: SEMICONDUCTOR ENERGY LABORATORY CO., LTD.Inventors: Jun Koyama, Shunpei Yamazaki

Publication number: 20070285228Abstract: A self-enclosed sensing unit may be coupled to an existing mechanism to determine functional characteristics, faults, and other conditions. The unit may contain a wireless communications capability enabling sensed information to be communicated to a remote location for analysis, storage, readout or other purposes, including the control of other devices. The sensed information may be transmitted wirelessly to a receiver interfaced to a vehicle network or other subsystem, thereby facilitating easy integration, including the integration of sensors that move during operation. The unit may be attached in different ways, including magnetism or by way of a threaded interconnect. For example, a bolt-on embodiment may be applied to oil, lubricant or pneumatic ports on vehicles without any mechanical alteration.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2007Publication date: December 13, 2007Inventor: Frederick O. Fortson

Publication number: 20070285231Abstract: A security device for use with a textile article is used to detect an open or closed state of a pocket or other enclosure in the article and to provide a warning to the user/wearer of the article. When a moveable closure of the article is moved from a closed configuration to an open configuration (or vice-versa, as the case may be) an electrical circuit is broken (or made) which is detected by an electronic processor. An alarm, such as an audible or visual indication, is then given electronically by the processor in response to the change in configuration.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 27, 2007Publication date: December 13, 2007Applicant: Sentrix Technology LimitedInventors: Steven Leftly, Dianne Jones
