Abstract: A method of making a preform assembly includes providing a preform having a closed end, and providing an attachment object having a ring. The attachment object is assembled to the preform by telescoping the ring over the closed end of the preform until the ring is brought into abutting engagement with a portion of the preform in such a way that interference between the ring and the portion of the preform prevents dislodgement or removal of the attachment object during subsequent processing of the preform assembly. The attachment object in the disclosed embodiments of the invention may be a handle, a label or a shroud. Abstract: The impregnation of a composite tape (56) having a porous matrix with HTC particles provides for permeating a fabric substrate layer (51) of the composite tape with HTC particles and impregnating an impregnating resin into the composite tape (51). The HTC particles in the fabric (51) layer are comprised of a meso-micro mixture, which is between 1:4 to 4:1 meso sized particles to micro sized particles. Other smaller particles may also be included at lesser concentrations. The impregnating resin itself may also contain HTC particles.

Abstract: A multi-level optical device includes a substrate having a baseline level. At least one feature is disposed at a level above the baseline level. At least one feature is disposed at a level below the baseline level, or in the feature above the baseline level is located at a distance apart from the feature below the baseline level. The distance has an accuracy inn the range of approximately ±0.05 ?m to less than approximately ±1.0 ?m. A method of fabricating an optical device includes forming at least one feature at a level of above a baseline level of a substrate; and forming at least one feature at a baseline level below the baseline level of the substrate, wherein the feature at a level above the baseline level and the feature at a level below the baseline level are patterned in a single-mask step using a multi-level mask.

Abstract: An organic semiconductor element part formed on a substrate is covered with a planarizing layer, a radiator plate is fixed with an adhesive layer on the planarizing layer, and a shield layer intercepting the adverse effects exerted on the organic semiconductor element part during the curing of the adhesive layer is formed between the adhesive layer and the planarizing layer. When the adhesive layer is a photo-curing adhesive layer, the shield layer prefers to intercept the light used for curing the photo-curing adhesive layer. When the adhesive layer is a thermosetting adhesive layer, the shield layer prefers to intercept the outgassing occurring during the curing of the thermosetting adhesive layer. By adopting this configuration, it is made possible to accomplish infallible interception of oxygen and moisture and effect radiation of heat with high efficiency.
